Abstract:To report a case of de Novo Histoid Leprosy with unique microscopic features in an individual who presented with asymptomatic raised nodules.

Abstract:The role of an anatomist is to make understand the human anatomy by medical and allied students. It should help the practitioners in their professional life. Role of anatomy in medical education is changing as the health care management is evolving. Nomenclature and method of evaluation of heart & its vessels according to clinicians is uniform. But the Anatomists differ. A uniform terminology should be accepted to take part in multidiscpline discussion.Ultimately teachers of anatomy failed because we did not present new anatomy dictated by the new technology i.e CT scan, MRI, USG, 2D echo. Main left coronary artery system is the commonly affected vessel. Usually it is the first vessel to show blockages. An attempt is made in this study to determine the variations shown by main left coronary artery and its branches on angiographic study.

Abstract:Background: Occupational low back pain is most common symptom among dentists.Working for long hours has its hazards involving working in a standing position and prolonged stooping over a reclined or supine patient. Also, dentist must use a variety of hand tools in a delicate manner. Objectives: 1) To find out the prevalence of low back pain (LBP) among dentists 2) To study occupational factors associated with low back pain. Materials and Methods: This was a cross sectional study carried out among dentists in pune city during the February 2010 to April 2010. Total 245dentists were selected by simple random sampling. Information was gathered with predesigned and pretested questionnaire. Prevalence LBP is defined as rate of study subjects who experienced LBP in the past one week. Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) score was used to assess physical disability due to low back pain. Study variables included were physique of dentists, demographic features (age, gender and marital status), working conditions (working hours, dental chair used, posture during the procedures), health conditions, the presence of low back pain, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) score. Results & Conclusion: Prevalence of LBP was found to be 62.10%. Among study subjects with LBP, RMDQ score averaged 5.1, Sleeplessness, duration of working>48hrs/wk, and body mass index (BMI) = 25 kg/m2.

Abstract:We are reporting a case of 60 yr old female from non endemic, resident of Pahur Tq. Jamner, Dist. Aurangabad. She complained of abnormal sensation of some moving in right eye intermittently. The size of the eye was gradually becoming small. Also the patient had redness and watering of eye. But there was no pain. These symptoms were present since 3 years. She was treated with antibiotic and analgesic eye drops, with no relief. on opthalmic examination there was subconjuctival worm which was removed surgically. The worm was identified as W. bancrofti & properly treated. Live adult worm in subconjuctiva of eye is uncommon in India. However, ophthalmologists should be aware of this clinical manifestation and go for a proper examination and identification of the worm.

Abstract:To determine the incidence of hepatitis in pregnancy and its association with various social, personal and environmental risk factors, a study was conducted at a Tertiary Maternity Care Hospital, Srinagar. During the one year study period patient selection was based on presence of clinical features suggestive of liver disease. The suspected patients were subjected to liver function tests and hepatitis serology (hepatitis A, hepatitis E, hepatitis B, hepatitis C) for diagnosis.

Abstract:Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an important cause of hospital-acquired infections in many countries. Mainly healthcare workers (HCWs) are at risk for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) carriage. A total of 120 healthcare workers (HCWs) were screened for carriage of MRSA. Swabs of both anterior nares and web spaces of the hands and palms were taken, transported and incubated in Tween 80 at 35°C overnight aerobically before inoculation onto Mannitol Salt Agar (MSA). Inoculated MSA were incubated aerobically at 35°C for 18-24 hrs. Staphylococcus aureus was identified as Gram positive cocci with positive catalase, coagulase and DNAse test. MRSA were identified at different sites using oxacillin and cefoxitin discs diffusion methods. Overall carriage rate was 15.8%., with the highest rate in nurses (7.5%) while the lowest in Doctors (2.5%). All the MRSA isolates were sensitive to all antibiotics. Vancomycin resistant strain was not identified. The commonest site of colonization was the anterior nares. Prolonged hospital stay and improper hand washing were found to be the major risk factors for MRSA colonization, although it would require screening of larger numbers before arriving at any definite conclusions. There is need for MRSA control policies in hospitals.

Abstract: To analyse the results of total resection of middle turbinate and partial resection of middle turbinate on nasal headache Design: Prospective study of chronic rhinogenic headache in 40 patients between January 2011 and December 2011, 25females and 15males,their age range was 18-55years,with a mean age of 32.4 years and their range of duration of headache was 1-20 years, with a mean duration of headache 6.125 years.The operation of total resection of middle turbinate has been performed in 40 ethmoidectomies & a control group of partial resection of middle turbinate has been performed by the same author in 40 ethmoidectomies. All the patients underwent pre-operative & post-operative assessment with a questionnaire of headache, using the visual analogue scale (VAS).
Key Words: Total resection of nasal middle turbinate in ESS is a good choice in chronic rhinogenic headache, not responding to usual medical anti-headache treatment & not septic.

Abstract: Background:During inflammation there is increase in plasma concentrations of C Reactive Protein(CRP) along with appearance of toxic granulation neutrophils(TGNs) in the peripheral blood. The granularity of TGNs are graded according to their intensity by manual microscopy. Granularity index(GI) of neutrophils calculated by SEIMENS ADVIA 2120 measures the intensity of neutrophilic granules.
