Abstract: This study explores the applicability of the resistivity method in estimatinggeotechnical index properties in parts of Bayelsa State. Representative soil samples were obtained from twelve boreholes, while geoelectrical soundings were conducted with array centres positionedat the location of each borehole in order to generate data for the analysis. The recovered soil samples were subjected to laboratory testing to determinetheir geotechnical properties. Relationship between the engineering properties and the processed geoelectric parameters was examined by plotting resistivity values against the moisture content and plasticity index of each soil layer and sample across the study area. From the results, a non-linear, inverse relationship was observed between soil moisture content and electrical resistivity values which implies that higher water content enhances higher electrical conductivity.......

Abstract: The TuronianEze-Aku Formation of the Middle Cretaceous which outcrops at the eastern flank of the Abakaliki Anticlinorium, Southern Benue Trough Nigeria represents a potential reservoir rock for hydrocarbons. Representative outcrop samples of the sandstone unit of the Eze-Aku Formation were collected and analyzed in order to determine its reservoir characteristics. In order to achieve this aim, a comprehensive description of the sedimentological, geotechnical and petrographical characteristics of the sandstone unit of the TuronianEze-Aku Formation was carried out. Petrographic analysis shows quartz grains are the most abundant detrital components in the samples (both polycrystalline and monocrystalline), followed by feldspars. Quartz constitutes about 92-93% and feldspar.....

Abstract: Geophysical method is a major tool in groundwater exploration. Integrated geophysical investigations were carried out within the premises of the OlabisiOnabanjo University hostel to delineate the aquifer characteristics of the area. For this study, Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) configuration was used to unravel the subsurface litho-stratigraphic information of the area. The overburden thickness vis-a-vis the direction of fractured and weathered rock formations was obtained through the acquisition of magnetic data. Five geophysical traverses were established with sevenVES points within the study area. The apparent resistivity data acquired from the Electrical Resistivitymethod was processed, inverted, and iterated using "WinResist". The ground magnetic data were processed using SignProc and Euler deconvolution for the estimation of the depth to bedrock and direction of the fractured lineament.....

Abstract: The lower member of the Um Bogma Formation at Wadi El Seih area composed mainly of ferruginous siltstones. Most of uranium occurrences located in the ferruginous siltstones. The field observation reveal that the factors affected the localization of U at the study area are topography, structure and lithology. The ferruginous siltstones show high enrichment of Y, Zn, V, Sr, U and Ba. Also, the rare earth elements (REE) analyses reveal that the studied siltstones have high concentrations of Dy, Ce, Nd, Er and Gd.SEM and EDX investigations reveal that iron oxides play an important role in the adsorption and precipitation of trace and rare earth elements. The high radioactivity of the studied siltstones is related to the presence of uranium minerals like uranophane, meta-autunite , sklodowskite and other associated uranium bearing minerals like xenotime and zircon. Gold is detected in the studied ferruginous siltstones of the lower member of Um Bogma Formation (reach up to 1.04 ppm). The presences of iron minerals are playing an important factor in capturing uranium and other elements

Abstract: :Suppose that in this year's CBA league, there are 14 teams in the regular season and playoffs, in which each game must have a victory and defeat, and each team number is fixed. The comprehensive scoring data of each team's on-the-spot performance in each ball game is calculated from the actual participating teams, and each team has about 100 historical scoring data. This article discusses the CBA league title competition based on the comprehensive score data of each team's on-the-spot performance in each ball game. For each team's probability of winning, establish an appropriate mathematical model to analyze and solve. First of all, we adopted the analytic hierarchy process to establish the model, and established three levels, namely the target level, the criterion level and the plan level. According to the data provided by the title, we preprocessed the data and simplified the complex data using the normalization method. Then, for each level of specific analysis of the.....

Abstract: Cohesive geophysical medium, namely; magnetic and electrical resistivity methods, were applied along with a geochemical method – atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), to investigate the effect of solid (domestic) wastes dumpsite by means of groundwater contamination on Nassarawo-Demsa Area. The aeromagnetic data used in the present study were extracted from sheet 196 (Numan) which was obtained as part of Nigeria nationwide aeromagnetic survey conducted by the National Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), Abuja. The data were acquired on an average flight elevation of about 80 m in a series of NE – SE flight lines, with a spacing of 500 m. The tie lines occurred at about 2 km. Surfer Version 7.02, a contouring and 2D surface mapping software program was used in processing the aeromagnetic data, basically to investigate fault zones across the study area.Nine hundred and eight (908) datum points, each for the three (3) profiles (stations) of electrical resistivity imaging....

Abstract: Urban transformation initiatives are a multi-faceted and fast-paced process carried out in a country that can be unpleasant at times and glaring at others. This process alters not just the physical appearance and infrastructure of cities, but also the networks, lifestyles, living cultures, and social tissues of their residents. The fundamental basis of this study is that women are influenced differently by such processes than men as a social group, and that they are involved with various parameters. The study focuses on how and why urban transformation has added to the increase in crimes against women in the region. It attempts to identify the growth pattern of the Ajmer city with.....
