As estimated in the census figure, poverty and the incidence of child labour are very high in the state of Odisha. Therefore, to focus on the nature and magnitude of the problem and for finding out the main reason of their participation in the workforce at an early age, a micro level study has been made in Cuttack City. Abstract: Nonmarket works (NMWs)are always undermined by the usual market evaluation process. Considering the basic idea of value generationthe NMWs produce significant (384.79 billionlabor hours, studied by author)value in Bangladesh. The economically inactive peopleare the main source of labor force of the NMWs. The problem of conventional measure fails to recognize the value of the NMWs. This paperconsidered to the contributions of the females (from sex issue) and the graduates (from qualification issue) to produce NMWs.
