Abstract: The powdered seeds of Adenanthera pavonina are used to study the biosorption of Cu(II) from aqueous solution. The batch experiments are conducted at at different initial concentrations (10-70 mg/L) of Cu(II) over a contact period of 5-60 minutes. The biosorption equilibrium is established by 40 minutes. The pseudo-first order, the pseudo-second order, Elovich and intra-particle diffusion models have been analyzed to understand the kinetics of the biosorption process.

Abstract: Radon 222 is a colorless, odorless, with a half-life of 3.825 days radioactive element which can endanger human health. Using water containing Radon 222 can cause lung and stomach cancer in the long term. In this cross-sectional study, 24 samples from 8 areas in Jask city were collected during June 2013. The concentration Radon 222 was measured by portable Radon detector model RTM1688-2. Range and mean of Radon 222 concentrations in tap drinking water is 105-304 Bqm3 and 198.8±61.9 Bq/m3, respectively.

Abstract: Massive global deforestation is not only caused by deforestation of tropical forests in developing countries, but also deforestation of natural forests in developed countries. Pulp and paper industry is one of the main players of deforestation. Globally, paper consumption increases by 3% per year. Currently, global paper consumption is around 350 million tons. The paper industry itself consumes 35% of all trees to produce paper. We have to cut one tree to produce 16.7 reams of paper (equal to 8,333.3 sheets). Annually, more than 900 million trees are cut for paper industries in the world. On average, individual consumption of paper is currently around 4,873.1 sheets per year, per student (or equal to 0.6 trees per year, per student). The papermaking process simultaneously contributes significantly to the pollution of water and air.

Abstract: Simulated product development is the new innovation in the field of Food science and Food technology. It is an armchair science that accurately estimates the pulse of consumer preferences. The product is developed in reference to an imaginary framework based on fixed attributes. The simulated attributes are usually product attributes, which are of prime importance to both the manufacturer and the consumer. In this technique, acceptability of a product conceived virtually in space via detailed analysis of the data obtained from a well-formulated questionnaire. The questionnaire developed focuses on consumer awareness, recipe development and product value for money (VFM).

Abstract: Swimming pools have been found to be a reservoir of different types of microorganisms and through this, many contagious infections can be contacted from these pools. Aim: the aim of this study is to determine the microbial quality of selected swimming pools and also the antimicrobial resistant pattern of the isolated microorganisms. Water samples were collected from six different outdoor swimming pools and microbiological analyses using different culturing media were carried out on these samples. Standard antibiotics discs were also used to determine the antibiotic resistant pattern of the isolated microorganisms.

Abstract: The current work is aimed to evaluate the degradation of Reactive Red 35 (RR35) by Pseudomonas aeruginosa ARSKS20 that decolorized 100 mg/L dye at 8.27 mg/L/h rate under optimum conditions. Induction of laccase, lignin peroxidase, tyrosinase, Veratryl alcohol oxidase, NADH-DCIP reductase, azoreductase enzymes during dye decolorization suggested their active participation in dye degradation. Metabolites obtained after decolorization were analyzed with HPTLC and FTIR studies confirmed the biodegradation of dye. Metabolites produced after biodegradation of RR35 were identified by GC-MS analysis. Predicted pathway of biodegradation of RR35 by bacteria elucidated for first time. The results showed efficient biodegradation of RR35 to low molecular weight compounds, namely, 1-Amino-2-hydroxy-5-(2-sulfooxy ethyl) benzene , 1-amino-2-methoxy benzene and naphthalene.

Abstract: Water scarcity is one of the most important concern of present day geographers as water is the central subject of all kinds of developmental activities. Water is essential for all socio-economic development and for maintaining a healthy ecosystem in the world. At present reduction of water scarcity is prime goal of many countries and governments. Purulia is one of the most backward district of West Bengal in terms of economic and human development and also it has the second largest schedule tribe population. Water scarcity is a regular threat for the people of Purulia district which has a great negative impacts on development of Purulia. So it is very crucial to free the people of Purulia from this curse of water scarcity.

Abstract: The tribal population of Dhenkanal district has traditionally depended on folk medicinal healers for treatment of their ailments. These tribal healers use medicinal plants as their primary source of medicinal formulations. Various tribal rich forest pockets of the district were identified and field trips were conducted at regular intervals in different seasons. Tribal uses of plants were studied in situ by establishing close intimacy with the tribal healers. During the survey 315 plant species belonging to 295 genera and 75 families have been collected, critically studied, identified and incorporated in the Herbarium. But UTIs-related ethno-medicinal data when analyzed was found to be from 26 species.

Abstract: The olive tree (Olea europaea L.) is an iconic symbol of the Mediterranean region since ancient times and products derived from its fruit and leaves have been used both as a food and as traditional medicine. Phytochemical studies have demonstrated olive oil, olives and processed olives as a rich source of phenolic compounds which are the most important components of the polar fraction of olive fruit, oil leaves and bark, owing to their health properties as natural antioxidants. The role of high content of antioxidative compounds is related to human health.

Abstract: This research examines socio-economic and cultural characteristics of issues defining begging in Akure metropolis, a medium-sized city in southern Nigeria. The study focused on Akure city where an extensive field survey was conducted on the incidence of street begging. It made use of both primary and secondary data. Using multistage sampling technique, a total of two hundred and forty (240) street beggars were sampled, constituting 12.5% of total 1,908 beggars. Data obtained from the questionnaires were processed and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16. The research findings were presented in form of tables, percentages, maps and charts as appropriate. The findings of this research reveal; (i) that 60.8% of the beggars were males as against 39.2% for females.

Abstract: The Karnaphuli, a major river of Bangladesh, is polluted in several ways particularly through industrial and sewage disposal. Increased anthropogenic activities have increased the potential pollution of the river, especially, the heavy metal pollutants which may be toxic to humans and aquatic fauna. Presence of heavy metals in the river water causes perilous impact on the aquatic organisms. Hence, regular monitoring of pollution levels in the river is indispensable. The present study dealt with the heavy metals distribution viz. Cadmium (Pb),Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb) and Nickel (Ni) in water of Karnaphuli River during rainy and winter seasons. Four stations were selected for collection of water samples in different locations.

Abstract: Agricultural soil quality deterioration resulting from increase in the level of heavy metals is becoming more and more pronounced, thus raising the question on safety status of human health and environment. Determination of concentration, calculation of contamination factor and pollution load index of heavy metal in agricultural soil including top (0-5cm) and sub (15-20cm) soils at Paspanga, Burkina Faso were undertaken. The soil samples were analysed for trace metals employing flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The pollution was characterized using the quality indices as contamination factor (CF) and pollution load index (PLI).

Abstract: Occupational Safety and Health is the concept with the main aim of protecting the employee of any industry or workplace when he/she is engaged in work or employment. It is reported in the World Health Report of World Health Organization (WHO) that occupational risk factors account globally for a number of morbid conditions such as back pain, hearing loss, chronic obstructive lung disease, asthma, injuries, cancer and leukemia. Abstract: The study was carried out to investigate the termiticidal effects of Moringaoleifera seed oil extract on Gmelinaarborea wood. The wood samples of Gmelinaarborea was converted into 60 x 20 x 20mm3 billets, oven dried and treated with Moringa seed oil extract at 60ml, 70ml, 80ml and 90ml concentration levels. The treated wood sample was exposed to termite attack at the grave yard for a period of 12weeks. The Moringa seed oil extract retention into the wood and percentage weight loss of the wood after termite attack were assessed.

Abstract: A research about paddy growth in contaminated soil by coal acid mine drainage has been carried out, This research aims to find out the effect of organic matter in recovering soil chemical properties, growth and yield of paddy which were planted in paddy fields contaminated by coal acid mine drainage.The experimental research is statistically designed using a nested design with two factors and an environmental design using of completely randomized block design with three replications.
