Title | : | An Appraisal of the Influence of Dividend Policy on Share Pricing of Quoted Companies in Nigeria |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Dada, Olusegun David || Awoyemi, Samuel Olausi |
Abstract: The General Objective Of This Study Was To Appraise The Impact Of Dividend Policy On Shares Pricing Of Quoted Companies In Nigeria. The Role Of Dividend Policy Cannot Therefore Be Undermined Because, To Pay An Excessive Dividend Would Mean Having A Higher Share Price And A Low Percentage Of Retained Earnings And Consequently Exposing The Company To The Danger Of Debt Financing, While On The Other Hand, Reserving A Higher Percentage Of Profit For Retained Earnings Will Threaten The Share Prices Of The Company's Stock And Could Perhaps Scare Shareholders And Potential Investors. It Is Therefore Imperative For The Stakeholders To Strike A Balance By Embarking On A Reliable Dividend Policy. The Study Used Primary And Secondary Data And Praetor Rating Analysis. This Study Also Employed Chi –Square To Analyze The Hypothesis. It Was Found Out That A Balance Between Dividend Payout And Retained Earnings Would Enhance The Share Price Of A Firm.

Title | : | The Indian e-Commerce Euphoria- A bubble about to burst? |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Priya Chaudhary || Ritika Sharma |
Abstract: The Indian e-commerce is making news every day- from festive season sales, deep discounts to another round of VC funding. The sector is gaining momentum more than ever. Even the government is supportive of the increased pace of startups. Prime Minister NarendraModi announced a new campaign "Start-up India, Stand up India" to promote bank financing for start-ups and offer incentives to boost entrepreneurship and job creation. The big techies of the world such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Qualcomm have offered support to India in its transformation into a digitally empowered society, knowledge economy & a very high penetration of internet. This paper deals with the pattern of VC funding in Indian e-commerce sphere& brings to light the problems in operational areas in e-commerce companies. The mad rush in VC funding, mounting losses & increased valuations of e commerce giants raises possibilities of an e-commerce bubble in India, similar to the dot-com bubble abroad.

[3] Investment data from the PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Private Equity Reports might not match with that of the funds committed data from Venture Economics as we feel that many investments might have been made outside of a formal VCPE fund structure. In addition, several funds locally set up in India might not have been captured in the Venture Economics database. However, both the reports indicate the strong growth in funds committed to various VCPE funds and actual investments made in companies.

Title | : | Volatility in Indian Stock Market: A study to assess volatility, persistence and GARCH effects. |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Pankunni.V |
Abstract: This paper examines stock market volatility in India choosing S&P BSE Sensex as the market. Daily closing prices of S&P Sensex for 3740 days over the period 2000-14 were used in the study. The study finds that using absolute change in the Sensex or stock price to measure volatility is deceptive. Only large percentage change in price need be taken as the stock volatility. Though standard deviation is generally used as a measure of volatility it fails in circumstances of time-varying scedasticity. Time-adjusted standard deviation as a measure of volatility resembles with the standard deviation without time-adjustment. Both measures indicates only a moderate volatility in India lower than the volatility prevailed upon during the Great Depression of 1929 and the Great market Crash of 1987. The study found a strong relationship between volatility and summed daily returns. The empirical analysis also results in the finding of evidences of volatility clustering and moderate volatility persistence when GARCH (1,1) Model is applied.

Title | : | A study of the existence of glass ceiling in the telecommunication sector of Bangladesh. |
Country | : | Bangladesh |
Authors | : | Laila Habib |
Abstract: The purpose of the study is to examine the existence of the glass ceiling in the corporate telecommunication sector in Bangladesh. It has been noticeable that the career progression of women is significantly lower than that of men especially in the telecom industry. The study also aims to contribute to identifying the factors which create the existence of the glass ceiling. The analysis of the data gathered through the course of the research will help to determine the contributory factors which have impact on the career advancement of female employees in the organization itself. The study will also concentrate on issues about why the female employees are being stereotyped about a specific category of jobs, the different conflicts that may exist and how these can be tackled. The perception and mind set of the management towards every female colleague will also be highlighted in the report. Despite the sense of continued progress toward gender equality in the workplace, it is noticeable that the ration of male to female employees is significantly less than expected in terms of advancement, compensation and benefits.

Title | : | Use of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card in Dhaka City: A Survey to Reveal the Problems and Prospects |
Country | : | Bangladesh |
Authors | : | Md. Abdulla-Al-Mamun |
Abstract: Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card is one of the prominent card services which offers
customers 24- hours banking access, such as cash withdrawal, purchasing of goods and services, etc.
However, sometimes customers are to face many problems i.e. non-availability of Taka, network problem,
lack of desired value denominated notes and so on. This paper investigates the customer satisfaction in this
regard. From the study, it was found that although people of our country were reluctant to use technology,
people seem to get more comfortable to technology now. For the blessing of ATM card, users really don't need
to stand on queue in the bank for transaction.. By using ATM card consumers can perform secure & quick
transactions in their accounts but sometimes they get serious trouble on their account like ID theft, account
hacking, mistransaction etc. For these reasons, consumers have mixed opinion on satisfaction. By improving
network service, providing receipt after transactions and solving of problems promptly, banks can make
their ATM card users fully satisfied.
