ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to establish the effects of the inclusion of rumen protected methionine, RP-Met (Mepron®), in Holstein Friesian dairy cow rations on milk production, mastitis resistance, and cost effectiveness.Twelve Holstein Friesian dairy cows in early lactation and between first to third parity were randomly assigned into three dietary treatments in a completely randomized design, with four replications. The experiment was conducted over a period of 7 weeks. All animals were fed on corn silage and lucerne hay as basal diets. The treatment diets included a dairy meal balanced for amino acids using Mepron® (DMM), commercial dairy meal formulated based on crude protein (CMD), and farm formulated dairy meal based on crude protein (FDM...........

ABSTRACT: Background: Red onion (Allium ascalonicum L) is a horticultural commodity that has the potential to be developed in almost parts of the world. Besides being used as a cooking spice, it also contains several substances that are beneficial to health. Liquid organic fertilizer and potassium fertilizers are often used to increase the growth and production of red onion plants. Materials and Methods: This research used a randomized block design (RBD) with 2 factors. The first factor is liquid organic fertilizer consisting of 3 levels, namely: P1 = 210 ml of solution/plot (5cc/1 liter of water), P2= 420 ml of solution/plot (5cc/1 liter of water), P3= 630 ml of solution/plot (5cc/ 1 liter of water). The second factor is potassium fertilizer consisting of 3 levels, namely......

ABSTRACT: Biologically, rice is the seed of monocot plant Oryza sativa of the grass family Gramineae. (Kuldeep, 2006). Millions of households around the globe take rice cultivation as the principal activity and source of income. Rice remains the source of foreign exchange earnings and government revenue for several countries of Africa and Asia. Rice is the second largest produced cereal in the world after wheat it cuts across regional, religious, cultural, national and international boundaries with very high demand (Rice Trade, 2011).......

ABSTRACT: Background: Harderian gland in avian is different from other vertebrates due to the presence of unexpected number of plasma cells in interstitium. In this study, the relation between the increase in the number of plasma in the Harderian gland of chukar Partridge (Alectoris chukar) and bursa of Fabricius development and involution periods was investigated histologically. Materials and Methods: In this study, Harderian glands and bursa of Fabricius of 20 3 month old (10 male, 10 female), 20 6 month old (10 male, 10 female) brown partridges purchased from a commercial farm (Turkey / Antalya) were used.Harderian gland......

ABSTRACT: Phenolic composition of different extracts of Aloe vera seedlings from smart farm and their antioxidant activity was determined for the first time. Phenolic compounds were identified using a reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) method. Results showed the identification of five phenolic compounds in water extract namely aloesin and its derivative, hydroxyl anthracene and aloeresin derivatives, and aloin. There were nine phenolic compounds identified in methanol–water extract, which are aloin, two emodinderivatives, anthranols, isobarbaloin, derivatives of aloetic acid and cinnamicacid. The amounts of aloesin, aloinand aloeresinwere higher among all phenolic compounds. Total phenolic compounds and radical scavenging activity......

ABSTRACT: Niger's agriculture remains dependent on very random agro-climatic, phytosanitary and, above all, rainfall conditions, resulting in recurrent shocks linked to the frequency of droughts, floods and attacks by crop pests. Indeed, the installation of millet crops only becomes effective after one or more sowing failures. This results in enormous losses of seed and financial resources for farmers, who are already suffering from poverty and scarce sources of income. This study, conducted in.....
