Abstract: Cancer cervix is the commonest malignancy in developing countries and is second most common cancer in women worldwide. The best way to detect cervical cancer is by regular Papanicolaou smear (Pap). This study was carried out in 380 cases in the department of pathology in collaboration with department of obstetric and gynaecology. All the cases above 18 years of age were included in the study. Pregnant women, Menstruating women, Women with obvious invasive cancer at the time of clinical examination were excluded from the study .Detailed clinical history and pelvic examination of the patients was done. Cervical scrape smears were taken and stained by Papanicolaou stain. The smears were classified according to Bethesda system, 2014.Out of 380 cases, 52 cases were found to be unsatisfactory. 328 cases were found to be satisfactory which were further evaluated. Age group varied from 18 to 70 years, with maximum number in the age group 30-39 years.Maximum smears were inflammatory........

Abstract: Introduction: Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are mostly asymptomatic but have a very high chances of mortality in case they rupture. Ultrasonography is nearly 100% sensitive and specific in detecting abdominal aortic aneurysms. Material & Methods: The present hospital based observational study was conducted in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Government General Hospital, Guntur Medical College, Guntur. Study period was from November 2017 to June 2018. Abdominal ultrasonography and axial non contrast computerized tomography (CT) were done in all the patients. All the patients underwent open abdominal aortic aneurysm resection and.......

Title | : | Role of Percutaneous Sclerotherapy in Venous Malformations |
Country | : | India |

Abstract: Venous malformations are one of the commonest anomalies of the vascular tree and their management has always remained a major challenge. Surgery and other treatment modalities are not always satisfactory and have a higher morbidity, recurrence and complication rate. The author retrospectively analyzed 40 patients of venous malformations who underwent sclerotherapy with sodium tetradecyl sulfate solely or as an adjunct to surgery. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sodium tetradecyl sulfate sclerotherapy in the treatment of venous malformations.

Abstract: Escherichia coli has been the principal causative agent of urinary tract infections (UTI), forming about eighty percent (80%) of such cases. E. coli must attach itself to the host tissue with its pili in order to initiate infection. This study was an attempt to investigate the effect of inhibition of assemblage and inactivation of the pili of E coli in UTI infection. Inhibition of assemblage of pili was attempted by culturing an infected mid-steam urine (MSU) on MacConkey agar containing 10mg/L inhibitor N.......

Abstract: Background: Cancer is big burden among children and adolescents are largely unknown in Bangladesh. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview on childhood and adolescent cancers and to contribute to the future strategies to deal with these diseases in Bangladesh.Childhood Cancer is the leading cause of disease related death among children and adolescents. Literature Review:The prognosis of malignancy in children depends primarily on two type extent of disease at diagnosis and rapidly on response to treatment. Childhood Cancer is the leading cause of disease related death among children and adolescents. Leukemias, which are cancers of the bone marrow and blood, are the most common childhood cancers. They account for about 31% of all cancers in children. The most common........

Abstract: Dental amalgam restoration represents 150 years of successful history while serving the dental profession. With the advent and increased clinical use of direct aesthetic restorative materials, the popularity of amalgam has decreased over the years. Concerns were raised against amalgam restorations in terms of poor esthetics, need of excessive tooth preparation for restoration, recurrent caries, and lack of adhesion to tooth, mercury toxicity and its disposal from the dental office. Serious clinical and environmental concerns regarding the use of amalgam as a restorative...........

Abstract: Complete denture therapy for the patients with edentulous arches is an age old form of dental treatment modality. Residual ridge resorption poses a clinical challenge for the fabrication of an effective and successful prosthesis. Severely resorbed maxillary edentulous ridges are usually narrow and constricted. There is increased inter ridge space causing reduction in retention, support and stability. The ensuing weight of the processed complete denture compromises them further. This article describes the case report with step by step procedure for a patient having atrophic ridges using a hollow maxillary complete denture

Abstract: Aim: In this study our aim is to perform Turkish reliability study of LAWTON Instrumental Daily Living Activities Scale. Material and Method: A total of 94 patients, aged 65 years and over, who applied to the Internal Diseases Clinic of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Health Application and Research Hospital were included in the study. Cronbach Alpha coefficient was used to determine reliability. Results: A total of 94 patients (54 females, 40 males) were included in the study and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be 0.873. Conclusion: The Turkish text of the LAWTON Instrumental Daily Living Activities Scale was found to be reliable. Physicians can use this scale to quickly and practically evaluate elderly patients
