Abstract: Diclofenac bioaccumulation has been a cause for concern as reported by various Environment and Health agencies. Five environmental samples screened for diclofenac degraders, yielded 34 isolates, of which two bacterial isolates belonging to the Alcaligenes and Brevudimonas genera and two fungal isolates, were used to form a consortium. The consortia was used for degradation studies, where 75.90% of Diclofenac degradation occurred in 12 hrs, This is in contrast to the individual isolates which could initiate degradation only after 24 hrs of incubation . Degradation profile by MS analysis after 120 hrs showed peak with retention time of 15.27 mins which could be identified as ,2-[(2,6-dichlo1-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-2-indolinon..

Abstract: The quality and suitability of surface water in parts of Andoni Local Government Area were assessed for potability and irrigation purposes by analyzing the water for physicochemical parameters, Heavy metals (Mg, Mn, Fe and Pb), microbial contents and irrigation indices using standard methods. The results obtained were compared with permissible limits for drinking water provided by World Health Organization, Standard Organization of Nigeria and National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control. The results were 233.3mg/l Mg2+, 0.041 – 0.213mg/l Fe+, <0.001mg/l Pb, 0.022 – 0.73mg/l Mn2+, 7.6 – 7.8 pH, 18400 – 22700μS/cm EC, 2.54 – 23.0NTU Turbidity, 11.0 – 13.8‰ Salinity, 22.2 – 30.2°C Temperature, 12880 – 15890mg/l TDS, 7.3 – 11.4mg/l............

Abstract: Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by microfungi that are capable of causing disease and death in humans and other animals. Fungal pathogens of the genera Aspergillus, Fusarium and Penicillium are a major threat to food and feed crops due to production of mycotoxins such as aflatoxins, 4-deoxynivalenol,ergot, patulin, and numerous other toxic secondary metabolites that substantially reduce the value of the crop and subsequent feed meant foranimals.To mitigate against the impacts, it requires immediate necessary control measures. Abstract: The increasing number of malfunctioning automobiles withsubsequent increase in emission levels and waste handling is an environmental concern in Nigeria. Abstract: Mapping land use/land cover changes at regional scales has wide range of applications, including land planning, global warming mitigation, biodiversity conservation etc. The Mt Cameroon landscape is a coastal area with it natural resources and topography undergoing tremendous change due to residential growth and associated development. Abstract: Hair beauty salon is one of the most common endeavors embarked upon by women in the bid to making a living. The proliferation of hair beauty salon generates wastewater with constituents that are harmful if allowed to percolate to ground water untreated. To examine the constituent of salon waste water and its extent of contamination of ground water, samples of salon waste water and ground water was collected within 50 meters of salon location from 30 beauty hair salons and borehole using sterile 250ml bottles.
