Abstract: Cyperus esculentus contains phytochemicals such as alkaloids, sterols, resins, tannins etc which could serve as potential sources of vegetable drugs in herbal medicine. This study was aimed at evaluating the effect of aqueous extract of Cyperus esculentus tuberson the adrenal gland of adult male wistar rats. A total of sixteen healthy male rats were used for the experiment. They were housed in four big iron mesh cages making them four groups of four animals each of random weights and were provided with feed and water daily. Administration of extract was for a period of twenty-eight days. Group A served as the control group while group B, C and D served as the test groups. Abstract: Fishes are regarded as an important high grade protein containing food staple of Indian people. Ever increasing water pollution level, especially sodium fluoride (NaF), in natural and inland freshwater reservoir condition has made significant biochemical changes in the fishes. In view of this, the investigations on effects of acute and chronic sodium fluoride toxicity to fish Cirrhinus mrigalahave been carried out. The changes in glycogen, protein and lipid content of selected tissues like muscle, liver, gill and kidney were examined. The study revealed a highest loss of glycogen, protein and lipid percentage in all tissues as compared to control.

Abstract: Background:Domestic solid waste management (DSWM) is a serious challenge in both urban and rural areas because by nature every activity done by human generates a certain amount of solid waste. Its effective management can be achieved through involving various stakeholders'- including media and local people; Media has a powerful role of raising public awareness and influencing positive perception and attitude towards DSWM as one of the fundamental factors that encourage effective participation. Abstract: Radioactive environmental hazard assessment was done for the location of the gold mine in El-Fawakhir area, eastern desert of Egypt by using the airborne gamma ray spectrometric data in order to evaluate the radioactive pollution and recommend certain precautions to safe life of the people who are working in the gold mine and living in the nearby sites. The obtained results of theabsorbed dose rate, effective dose rate, excess lifetime cancer risk, annual gonadal equivalent dose, internal and external hazard indices at El-Fawakhir gold mine and some other surrounding sites indicate that the values of these radioactive factorsexceed the recommendedinternational levels of radiation. Radioactive risk map is prepared for the study area, where the site of the gold mine lies.......

Abstract: Phytosociological studies are an important parameter to understand the population structure and to estimate the species richness existing in the study area. The Jakhu hill exhibits a wide range of plant diversity, the North Eastern aspect of the hill portrays dense cover of Cedrusdeodara, and Cupressustorulosa and as we elevate higher to the hill dense cover of Quercus leucotrichophora and Rhododendron arboretum is observed. The North western aspect of the hill shows dense forest of Quercus Leucotrichophora,IIex dipyrena, Rhododendron arboreum, cedrus deodara and a few tree of Aesculus indica.The South Eastern region along with South Western aspect of the jakhu hill exhibited different tree species like Cedrus deodara, Quercus leucotrichophora, Rhododendron Arboreum and Cupressus torulosa, and Pinus wallicinana. On the basis of importance Value index (IVI), the major tree species that dominated the area is Cedurs deodara, along with Quercus leucotrichophora and Rhododendron arboretum
