Abstract: There is a gradual shift from the traditional high residue, unprocessed or minimally processed 'African' diet to low residue highly processed diets which appear usually delicious and attractive. High-fat diet alters lipid metabolism thereby predisposing to cardio-metabolic disorders including hypertension, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidaemia and atherosclerosis. The present study investigated the effect of Justicia carnea (JC) leaf extract on the liver enzymes in high-fat diet fed wistar rats.
