Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Ms. Sarita Thakur |
Abstract:Sustainable development can be achieved through growth of entrepreneurial initiatives amongst the underprivileged socio-economic groups to the bottom of the pyramid. Creating self employment opportunities is one way of attacking poverty and solving the problems of unemployment. Microfinance is basically very small loans (micro-loans) to below poverty and small entrepreneurial segment. The Scheme of Micro-finance has been found as an effective instrument for lifting the poor above the level of poverty by providing them increased self-employment opportunities and making them credit worthy.

Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Sani Adamu Muhammad || Ram Al Jaffri Saad, PhD |
Abstract: Zakat is among the pillars of Islam which aims at poverty reduction among Muslim Ummah. Zakat is vital for improvement of Asnaf purchasing power. However, the payment of zakat in Kano Nigeria is still low. Despite numerous factors that influence intention to pay zakat recommended in the literature, research model that address this issue is still not enough to solve the problem of low level of zakat payment in developing nations. The core objective of this paper is to suggest a research model for examining the moderating effect of subjective norm on the relationship between peer influence and intention to pay zakat among businessmen in Kano Nigeria.

Title | : | Improving Academic Events and Conference Participation by Zimbabwean Lecturers: Learning From RIO-SET 2012 Experiences. |
Country | : | Zimbabwe |
Authors | : | Clever Vutete || Christopher Vutete |
Abstract: While research outcomes might be important in both public and private sector in Zimbabwe, the tertiary education sector seemed to be lagging behind. Lower attendance at RIE Expo 2012(now RIO-SET) by lecturers, conference audiences and other key research stakeholders made it imperative to carry out this research. Researchers felt that a minimum of 50 participants should attend each parallel session, but the RIE 2012(RIO-SET) had an average of 15 people in each session. The methodology used a sample size of 100 lecturers chosen from 10 universities and 15 colleges across Zimbabwe using judgmental and quota sampling. Issues covered included attitudes, institutional challenges, communication challenges and financial constraints facing lecturers and their institutions.

Title | : | Conquering the Market through Guerrilla Strategies: The Success Story of Small Paint Manufacturers in Zimbabwe. |
Country | : | Zimbabwe |
Authors | : | Clever Vutete || Christopher Vutete |
Abstract: The pre-2009 period was dominated by some large paint manufacturers that fiercely defended their market shares and positions. Such players who used to enjoy an uncontested market space include Astra, Chroma, Chemical Enterprises and Dulux. Though it seemed impossible for small paint manufacturers to enter that market, the 2010-to-2015 period witnessed some significant entrance and influence of small firms in the paint manufacturing and marketing business. Given the thin resources by these small firms and their tendency of applying the attack military tactics to conquer the paint manufacturing market, this study aimed at analysing the common guerrilla strategies that were employed in attacking the large established firms.

Title | : | The Usefulness of Deffered Tax Expense in Detecting Earnings Management |
Country | : | Indonesia |
Authors | : | Dewi Utari || Ni Putu Eka Widiastuti |
Abstract: The aim of this research is to examine the usefulness of deferred tax expense as compared to various accrual measures employed in prior research in detecting earnings management in two settings where earnings management likely occurs: to avoid loss and to avoid earnings decline. Manufacturing companies are listed at Indonesia Stock Exchange as sample in period 2010-2012 by purposive method. Our results provide evidence that deferred tax expense, total accruals, and discretionary accrual of the Jones Model have no significant influence to detecting earnings management to avoid loss.

Title | : | Perception of Maggi Noodles Amongst Delhi Residents: Before and After Controversy |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Narander Kumar Nigam || Saumya Jain || Dr. PurushottamArya |
Abstract: The instant noddles market in India went through an unprecedented crisis with the banning of the country's favourite 2 minute snack:Nestle's Maggi in June 2015. The reports of food regulators confirmed the presence of lead and MSG in excess in Maggi. Maggi enjoys a fan following like no other branded noodes and with the company claiming the noodles safe for consumption, there is a need to know whether decades old association with any brand changes consumers' perception after discovery of health risk and has the perception of Maggi brand changed significantly after the controversy.
