Abstract: This study was intended to investigate the relationship between self-concept and participation in NCC among college students. The present study was conducted on a sample of 400 NCC cadets studying in different arts & science Colleges in Palakkad, Thrissur and Malappuram District by giving due representation to gender (Boys / Girls), locale (Rural / Urban) and type of management of institutions (Government / Aided).Normative survey method was used for collecting the data for the study. The obtained data were analyzed with the help of Pearson's product moment correlation technique. Findings indicate that there exist the chances of those students participating in NCC to have a good self concept are fairly large. The investigator found positive and significant relationship between self concept and participation in NCC for the total sample and for all the subsamples.

Abstract: Gender inequality has been one of the major forces that threatens the security and economic development of many societies world ever. Nigeria is not an exception in these social vices, where women are not avail with the opportunity to render their services for the general growth of the nation. This paper attempts to advance a curriculum option, that will provide women with the potentials to give their contributions in social and economic developments, that will translate into a positive security atmosphere in Nigeria.

Abstract: The present investigation was undertaken to study the Environmental Awareness of secondary school students who had gone through SEED Project. The sample of the study comprised 193 boys, 207 girls, 196 rural, 204 urban, 204 aided and 196 government (total- 400) secondary school students. For the selection of sample, stratified random sampling technique was employed. The data were analysed by using Mean, Standard Deviation and't' test techniques.

Abstract: Kiswahili is an official and a national language in Kenya, It plays a major communicative role in Kenya but there have been complaints about the poor academic performance both at primary and secondary school levels. This paper is a report of a study that was carried out in 2012 in Kapseret Division of Uasin Gishu County . It established the effects of language policy in schools on the learning of Kiswahili. It was guided by sociocultural theory (SCT) and was descriptive in nature.

Abstract: This study was designed to identify the constraints to effective utilization of Information and Communication Technology Facilities in the teaching and learning of Motor Vehicle Mechanic trades in the Technical Colleges of Niger state. Four research questions were formulated to guide the study. A descriptive survey research design was employed for the study. The study was carried out in all the Technical Colleges of Niger State. A total of 498 respondents comprising 464 TCIII Motor Vehicle Mechanic students and 34 Motor Vehicle Mechanic teachers in all the technical colleges of Niger state were used as population for the study. A structured questionnaire developed by the researcher was used to collect data for the study. The instrument was validated by 3 lecturers in the Department of Industrial and Technology Education. Also a test-re-test method was used in determining the reliability of the instrument and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to compute the reliability coefficient. The instrument has a reliability of 0.72.Mean statistic was used to analyze the data for answering research questions. The findings of the study among others revealed that: ICT facilities are not available in all the technical colleges for effective teaching and learning of motor vehicle mechanic trades, the teachers are not well trained on hoe to effectively utilized ICT facilities for teaching and learning of motor vehicle mechanic trades and that irregular power supply is affecting the effective utilization of ICT facilities in all the technical colleges of Niger State. Based on the findings it was recommended that government should ensure adequate provision of ICT facilities to all the technical colleges, teachers should be trained on how to effectively utilized ICT facilities in the teaching and learning of motor vehicle mechanic trades and there should be provision of electricity supply through an alternative other than public power supply so as to ensure effective utilization of ICT facilities in the teaching and learning of motor vehicle mechanic trade in all the technical colleges of Niger State.

Abstract: This study on the level of community participation in the conservation of natural resources in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Southern Cross River State, Nigeria is aimed at establishing the extent of community participation in natural resources conservation in the study area. The Ex-post facto research design was adopted. To achieve the purpose of this study, two null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The simple random sampling technique was adopted in selecting six communities while the multi-stage stratified random sampling technique and accidental sampling technique was used to select the two hundred and fifty (250) community members used for the study. A fifteen (15) items four points likert scale questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. To test the hypotheses, Dependent t-test statistical analysis technique was used for data analysis. The results obtained from analysis of data revealed that, the level of participation significantly influences forest resources conservation. In the second hypothesis, the result also shows that community involvement has a significant influence on wildlife conservation. Based on these findings, it was recommended that awareness creation on environmental conservation should become integral part of community organizations.

Abstract: English grammar is an interesting field of study because of its variety. It is a universal field as its applicability cuts across all human endeavours especially in countries like Nigeria where English is used as the official language. Grammar is to the English language as the heart is to a human being. The user's mastery of it determines his competence and performance in every sphere of life. Thus a grammar-deficient person will only be postponing the evil days to say he/she is not a grammarian and so the study of grammar does not appeal to him. This paper used the descriptive research design to discuss the meaning, importance of English grammar in general and made grammatical structures meaningful not only to grammarians but also to people in other professions. This would help the latter to remedy any deficiencies in the use of these aspects of grammar and enhance or facilitate their daily interactions and effective communication in their chosen professions and the society at large.

Abstract: This study used ex-post facto and correlation survey to investigate the influence of home environment on academic performance of senior secondary students in Adamawa State. The population of the study consisted of 8,548 students in class 2 in 2012/13 to 2013/14 academic sessions. A total sample of 900 students was drawn from the population using multi-stage random sampling technique to respond to the instrument for data collection for the study. The instrument was a 40 item researcher designed questionnaire titled Home Environment Factors and Students' Academic Achievement Test in Agricultural Science (HEFSAATAS) consisting of two sections A and B. Inferential statistics z-test and Correlation analysis were used to analyse and interpret the data. The results showed that parental educational qualification (r = 0.73), occupation (r = 0.71) and home location (r = 0.73) were highly correlated with students' academic performance while parental economic status (income and affluence) have moderate correlation (r – 0.60) but all the independent variables have significant influence on students' performances in Agricultural Science at the secondary school. It was recommended that parents and other significant persons should make students' homes conducive and stimulatory to learning not only the school subjects but education in general.
