Title | : | Prospective Study of Patients Presenting With Small Bowel Perforations and Outcome in A Rural Hospital In South India |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Raja Gopala Rao Akireddy || Dr. K.Sudheer Kumar || Dr.G.J.Paul Daivavaram |
Abstract: Introduction: The wide spectrum of etiologies resulting in small intestinal perforation with nonspecific clinical picture poses a challenge for the diagnosis to the general surgeon. The delayed diagnosis thereby delays the management leading to high morbidity and mortality. This study was an attempt to find out the common causes of small bowel perforation and outcome. The prevalence of small bowel perforation in the selected population remains unknown. Hence considering the frequency of small bowel perforation the sample size was estimated based on formula Sample size (n) = 4 p q /d2..............

Title | : | A Prospective Study Comparing The Functional Outcome, Radiological Outcome and Gait Analysis between Lateral Surgical Approach and Posterior Surgical Approach in The Total Hip Replacement |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr.P.Sivakumar || Prof. E.S.Arivazhagan |
Abstract: Total hip replacement refers to replacement of a diseased hip joint with an artificial acetabulum and head of femur. It is indicated for arthritis of the hip joint and fracture neck of femur. The extraordinary success of total hip replacements has led to a progressive increase in the number of replacement surgeries done. The clinical research towards various components of hip replacement has led to rapid development but the choice of approach remains surgeon dictated.

Abstract: Background: The incidence of thyroid cancer has been increasing several-fold over the decades while other head and neck cancers are decreasing. Whether the increasing incidence of thyroid cancer is a true disease occurrence or due to detection by increased diagnostic scrutiny remains a subject of debate. Hence, we prospectively evaluated the trends in the thyroid cancer incidence, their clinicopathological features and histology...............

Authors | : | Dr. K.Deepa, Md(Path.) || Dr. P.Karkhuzhali, Md(Path.) |
Abstract: GISTs, the most common mesenchymal neoplasms of the GIT are generally characterized by activating KIT/PDGFR-α mutations; a small subset also shown to harbor molecular abnormalities like BRAF and SDHB mutations. Immunohistochemically though GISTs are often CD117 positive, CD117 is significantly less expressed in PDGFR-αmutant GISTs and a minority of PDGFR-α mutant GISTs are CD117 negative. Aim: To analyse the clinicopathological features of 36 cases of GISTs and evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of the markers - CD117, PDGFR-α, CD34, SMA and S100..........

Title | : | Congenitally Missing Bilateral Incisors with Single-Tooth Implants: Clinical Case |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Nezar Watted || Abdulgani Azzaldeen || Ghannam Nidal || Ali Watted || Abu-Hussein Muhamad |
Abstract: Agenesis, the absence of permanent teeth, is a common occurrence among dental patients. The total incidence of tooth agenesis is about 4.2% among patients that are seeking orthodontic treatment and with the exception of third molars, the maxillary lateral incisors are the most common congenitally missing teeth with about a 2% incidence. Esthetically correcting congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors is a common challenge that every orthodontist and dental team will face, and dentists must consider the treatment options that are most appropriate for each patient...........

Title | : | Ventricular Tachycardia in a Patient Undergoing Proximal Right Coronary Artery Stenting-Importance of Lesion Pre Dilatation. |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr Venkatesh Krishnamurthy Tekur |
Abstract: Ventricular tachycardia due to occlusive engagement of right coronary artery by different types of coronary catheters have been known. The authors describe here a case of ventricular tachycardia occurring when a stent was being positioned in the proximal right coronary artery after uneventful engagement of a right coronary ostium by a Judkins 6F Guide. It is presumed that direct stent placement across the lesion without predilating the lesion could have caused occlusion of the right coronary artery lumen with consequent myocardial hypoxia and ventricular arrhythmia..........

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Manish K. Singh || Dr. Alok Kumar |
Abstract: Nowadays laparoscopic cholecystectomy ( LC ) is the gold standard treatment for chronic cholecystitis with cholelithiasis.. General anesthesia with positive pressure ventilation is the preferred mode of anesthesia in this technique. There are limited data about LC under spinal anesthesia. This study was designed to evaluate LC under spinal anesthesia for uncomplicated chronic cholecystitis with cholelithiasis . In this prospective study, 335consecutive patients of ASA grade I or II, with a mean age of 32.5 years and mean BMI of 21.35 kg/m2 , suffering from chronic cholecystitis with cholelithiasis, were included. All patients were informed about spinal anesthesia in detail...........

Title | : | Progress in Red Blood Cell Distribution width And Cardiovascular Diseases |
Country | : | China |
Authors | : | Mohamed Abdirahman Abdinur || Xie Yong |
Abstract: The red blood cell (RBC) distribution width (RDW) is a term used to describe the heterogeneity of the peripheral blood erythrocyte (i.e., Anysocytosis) volume hematology indexes of anemia in the etiology diagnosis, especially the thalassemia anemia and has important value in the differential diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia. Recently accumulated studies have found that RDW plays an important role in the diagnosis, risk stratification and prognosis of cardiovascular diseases. This review article explains the relationships between red blood cell distribution width and heart failure, acute myocardial infarction and acute coronary syndrome.

Title | : | Levosulpiride Use in Chronic Kidney Disease Patients – Do We Need to Be Cautious? |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Srinivasaprasad || Chandramohan || Brinda Srinivasagopalane || Edwin Fernando M |
Abstract: Background: A challenging scenario for today's clinician is to treat dyspeptic symptoms among the chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. Levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide which is most commonly used as a prokinetic drug. At present there is enough evidence to say that levosulpiride causes movement disorders (LIM) when used in elderly patients. This study attracts attention as there was high occurrence of extra pyramidal symptoms (EPS) in CKD patients even with recommended doses for dyspeptic symptoms...........
