Abstract: Color is the main feature of any food item as it enhances the appeal and acceptability of food. In the recent years, coloring of food with pigments produced from natural sources is of worldwide interest and is gaining importance. Several types of dyes are available in the market as colouring agents to food commodities but biocolorants are now gaining popularity and considerable significance due to consumer awareness because synthetic dyes cause severe health problems. Abstract: The concentration of elements in cement factory dust and kiln feed dust were determined using Instrumental neutron activation analysis at the Nigerian Research reactor -1 (NIRR-1). The kiln feed and cement dusts showed the presence of 31 and 29 elements respectively and the order in which they occur in both dusts were Ca > Al > Fe > K > Mg > Ti > Mn > Na > Ba > Rb > Rb > Cr > La > Nd > V > Zn > Th > Co > Sm > Sc > Hf > As > Dy > Cs > U > Yb > Eu > Br > Ho > Lu > Hg = Sb. ..........

Abstract: Pasta is a popular food and its quality can also measured by appearance of flavour and texture. Present study was undertaken to evaluate the quality of pasta supplemented with different quantities of ginger powder. In the present study four samples (C, C1, C2, and C3) of pasta were prepared by using refined wheat flour and different proportion of ginger powder. Sample C was prepared as control containing only refined wheat flour (100%) while sample C1 (refined wheat flour 99% ginger powder 1% ), C2 (refined wheat flour 97% ginger powder 3%) and C3 (refined wheat flour 95% ginger powder 5%) were prepared by changing the concentration of refined wheat flour and ginger powder...........

Abstract: Samples of the popular chicken shawarma sandwiches from ten reputed restaurants in the Hamra region of Ras Beirut, were tested for contamination with Salmonella. The sandwiches tested were those regularly offered to customers, but were of two categories, with and without a garlic spread that is usually added to this type of Sandwiches. Salmonellawas isolated from sandwiches taken from 3 different restaurants (30%). Two of the three were isolated from part not containing garlic while the third was isolated from a sample that contained the garlic spread..........

Abstract: The incidence and levels of heavy metals; lead, cadmium and iron were estimated in water of shallow & deep wells as well as milk of cows reared on those wells in the New Valley Governorate, Egypt. All the samples were contaminated with such elements. The average levels in water were 0.19, 0.03 and 1.44, while in milk were 0.215, 0.05 and 0.73 for Pb, Cd and Fe respectively. Abstract: The purpose of this research is to present the current status of solid wastes flow in Chennai and optimize the cost of handling solid wastes. The city limits was extended form 175 km2 to 426 km2 in 2011, leading to sub optimum levels in solid waste management of 4840 tons per day. There is also pressure on city managers to reduce the cost of transport of solid wastes, due to shrinking budgetary allocations. Abstract: The nutrient and antinutrient compositions of the leaves and seeds of uziza (Piper guineense) were investigated to compare the differences in the nutrient properties determined. The result of the proximate analysis shows uziza leaves had significantly higher crude protein and fibre content values of 11.32% and 18.19% while those of the seeds had protein and fibre values of 7.82% and 2.88% respectively. The carbohydrate content of the seeds (70.51%) were significantly higher than the leaves (42.23%). The result of the nine mineral analysis performed also shows that iron, zinc, lead, calcium and potassium contents of the uziza leaves were higher than those of the seeds with values 3.12mg/100g, 0.39 mg/100g, 0.06 mg/100g 466.39 mg/100g and 116.52 mg/100g respectively. Copper, magnesium, sodium and phosphorus content values were higher in the seeds than in the uziza leaves...........

Abstract: Pyroclastics of ultramafic to intermediate compositions (38.83-65.58% silica) were emplaced in the Asu River Group of Afikpo basins. Petrographic analysis show that the mineral compositions in the rocks are plagioclase, olivine, pyroxene, biotite, and quartz in some of the samples.The pyroclastics plot in the fields of basanite-tephrite, hawaiite and dacite on the total alkaline silica diagram (TAS). The pyroclastics range from silica under saturated to silica saturated and over saturated. These rocks show alkaline to subalkaline affinities. The similarities in pyroclastics of the Afikpo basin are based on their occurrences in the province. The pyroclastics show some transitional features..........

Abstract: Solanum nigrum belongs to family Solanaceae. Blacknightshade & Makoi are the common name for it. Abstract: A study was undertaken to determine the concentrations of heavy metals in the ground water from landfill leachiest in Abokobi, a suburb of Accra. Nine wells were excavated from the landfill site and the concentrations for heavy metal such as cadmium, arsenic, lead, zinc, copper, chromium, nickel and iron were monitored using wet digestion technique. Abstract: Zoning is the main part of planning principles, which is now considered as the most important tool in preserved areas management. This study has been carried out in the preserved area of Shahoo/Kosalan, located in Kurdistan Province (Iran). Abstract: Tuban is one area that has agricultural commodities make a significant contribution to the economy.
