Abstract: Geoelectric resistivity survey and hydrochemical studies were conducted at and around the area of the Qena sewage treatment plant at wadi El-Shuweina, Eastern Desert, Egypt to understand the groundwater conditions as the determination of aquifer parameters, directions of groundwater flow, and the horizontal extension of the contamination with the sewage water. To achieve this aim, fourteen vertical electrical soundings were carried out and twenty-six samples of groundwater were collected from the wells tapping the Quaternary aquifer of the study area. Abstract: Lead is one of the priority heavy metal due to its high degree of toxicity. It has many severe health implications on human as well as on the environment. In this research, potential of wastes leaves of Averrhoa carambolaas an adsorbent was experimented for the removal of Pb (II) ions from the synthetic water. Under various experimental conditions like contact time, pH, dose of adsorbent, initial metal ion concentration batch experiments were carried out. The maximum removal percentage was found to be 96%. The experimental data were fitted into Langmuir and Freundlich models. The results of the experiment reveal that the Pb (II) give best fit to Langmuir isotherm with r2 value of .99. The optimum pH for the experiment was found to be 5 at 10mg/L metal ion concentration with dose of 2g and the equilibrium reached at 60 mins.The maximum capacity of the adsorbent was calculated from the isotherm models. The adsorbent was characterized usingBET (Brunauer–Emmett–Teller),pH.

Abstract: Effect of Giving of Several Doses of NPK Fertilizer and Various Growing Media on Growth and Yield of Celery (Apium graveolens L.). The research location was carried out in Tapis Village, Tanah Grogot District, Paser Regency with a study period of 6 months from January 02 to Juny 06. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of giving Several Doses of NPK and various Growing Media using a two-factorial randomized block design which was repeated three times. The first factor is the effeck of giving several doses of NPK, namely m1 = (without 5 grams/plant), m2 = (10 grams/plant), p3 = (15 grams/plant). Abstract: To investigate the effect of organic components in substrate on the performance of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) production, four vegetable wastes (carrot, potato peel, celery and Chinese cabbage) were mixed in different proportions and used as substrates for anaerobic fermentation. The result showed that the total VFA yield of the substrate with 50% potato peels was the highest (17888.24 mg COD/L). The high proportion of carrot and Chinese cabbage in the substrate led to the inhibition of hydrolysis and low VFA production. The decomposition of proteins in potato peels had a buffer effect on the reduction of pH and was conducive to VFA production. The metabolic pathway with carrot and Chinese cabbage as the main substrate was ethanol-acetic acid type, while that with potato peels and celery as the main substrate was butyric acid type. Lactobacillus, Psedumonas and Clostridium_sensu_stricto were the main functional microbes in the reactor with potato peels as the main substrate..
