Abstract: This study compared the evaluation of heavy metal in semi-pristine and heavy metal-polluted environments. Samples of soil contaminated with heavy metals was obtained from Challawa industrial dump site Kano while semi-pristine soil samples were obtained from Bayero University Kano's Botanical and Ecological Gardens, and Jardin Botanique Geneva in Switzerland. Microbiological methods were used to isolate and identify the bacteria in the samples. The isolates were further screened for their ability to tolerate Lead (Pb) and Chromium (Cr) salts separately at various concentrations of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, and 400 mg/l of each heavy metal after.....
