Abstract: Drinking water, also known as potable water, is water that is safe to drink or to use for food preparation, without risk of health problems. Water helps us to maintain the balance of body fluids, control calories, energize muscles, keep skin looking good, keep our kidneys good condition, maintain normal bowel function. Water should be free from all types of pathogens. Otherwise it may be harmful for our body. Our objective of this study was to assess the "Heterotrophic Plate Counts" of local bottled water samples obtained from different areas of Dhaka, Bangladesh. We took 12 different brands of bottled water. Nutrient agar method was used to count HPC bacteria at 37 oC for 24-48hours and maintained pH was 7.3±0.2. We found that W1, W2, W3, W5, W6, W7, W8, W9, W10, W11 and W12 samples HPC count were <500 cfu/ml but W4 sample's count was >500cfu/ml.

Abstract: Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health, food security, and development today. Antibiotic resistance can affect anyone, of any age, in any country. Antibiotic resistance occurs naturally, but misuse of antibiotics in humans and animals is accelerating the process. A growing number of infections are becoming harder to treat as the antibiotics used to treat them become less effective. Antibiotic resistance leads to longer hospital stays, higher medical costs and increased mortality. Our aim was to assess the susceptible pattern of Ceftriaxone of 3rd generation cephalosporin antibiotic against uropathogens. A total of 12943 urine samples were collected in 2016 (Jan-Dec) and out of which 1236 (9.55%) were bacteriologically positive. Among the isolated uropathogens, 95.1% were gram negative and 4.9% gram positive organism. Male were found more prone to get UTI under 10 years...........

Abstract: This present paper deals with the pH and Total Dissolved solids (TDS) of the bottled drinking water
Due to rapid industrialization and over exploitation of ground water resources, there is a drastic change taking place in environment. Now a day's water pollution is a major problem. TDS correlates positively with conductivity and affects pH. The higher the TDS, the higher the conductivity and the lower the pH, towards the acidity. 14 domestic bottled water brands of Dhaka city, Bangladesh were analyzed for pH and TDS as water quality parameters. These parameters indicate the quality of drinking water. From the study of above parameters and observed that all the samples are in.........

Abstract: An evaluatory approach with one group pre-test, post-test design was used for study and the study
was conducted at Divisional Railway Hospital, Kota. The sample consisted of 50 patients with diabetes. The
sample was selected using convenient sampling technique. Tool and Self Instructional Module (SIM) were
validated by experts. SIM was administered on the same day after the pre-test and the post-test was conducted
on 7th day using the same tool.
The mean post-test knowledge score (x2 = 48.98) was higher than the mean pre-test knowledge score (x1 =
35.78). The computed't' value (t49 = 12.6, p<0.05) showed a significant difference suggesting that selfinstructional
module was effective in increasing the knowledge on home care for patients with diabetes. Chisquare
was computed to find out the association between post-test knowledge with selected variables.
Association was found between educational status, occupation & exposure to mass media with post-test
knowledge scores.

Abstract: It is estimated that nearly 300,000 women die from pregnancy related complications and childbirth.
Globally 34% of deliveries take place without skilled birth attendant. In Kenya more than 50% of deliveries are
conducted by unskilled persons. These high indices of maternal mortality are reason for launching incentive use
and digital programme in Kakamega County commonly known as "Oparanya care services". Despite the
commitment provided by the county government in resource allocation and free maternity care from the
national government, pregnant women still deliver under watch of unskilled attendants, which endangers the
outcome of the delivery.........

Abstract: This study assessed the different geriatric nursing home facilities in the Philippines in terms of their organizational management, health services, financial management and human resource management. Out of twenty-two (22) institutions in Region 4a and NCR that were sent letters for the conduct, only three institutions ultimately agreed. These are: 1) SinagKalinga Foundation Inc. in Lucban, Quezon; 2) Kiwanis Foundation Home for the Indigent Aged in Lucena City, Quezon and; 3) Nazareth 'BahayPag-ibig' Foundation in San Pablo City, Laguna. Descriptive analysis was employed in order to analyze scores from the survey. Measures of central tendencies were used in order to provide a picture of an average patient, employee and management personnel. Based on the data collected from thirty-four (34) patients and employees residing/working in three different geriatric institutions, SinagKalinga Foundation Inc.........

Abstract: Introduction: Tuberculosis remains a major problem globally despite it being a fairly preventable and curable disease. TB remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Kenya and the greatest burden is in the most productive age group. Lack of knowledge on TB within communities affects the health seeking behavior of patients which in turn presents ample time for infection to spread to the healthy population and poses a formidable challenge towards controlling the disease. Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the Knowledge, Attitude and Practices on prevention of Tuberculosis among residents of Lari Sub-County. Methods: The study was a hospital based cross sectional study which was conducted at the Outpatient Department in Lari Hospital in Kenya..........

Abstract: Developing countries account for 99% of the 830preventable pregnancy related deaths. The deaths occur mostly in rural and poor communities not affording skilled attendance Zimbabwe significantly contributes to these global rates with a Maternal Mortality Ratio of 651/100 000 live births of which 47% are avoidable deaths, despite increasing institutional delivery and skilled attendance. Competent midwives working in a clear scope of practice can make the deference. The purpose of this study is to explore the perception of the nurses/midwives regarding their scope of practice, clinical competences and their association with maternal outcomes.in Mashonaland east province of Zimbabwe..........

Abstract: Purpose: To investigate the effect of listening to Qur'an on physiological responses of mechanically ventilated Muslim patients. Design: A quasi-experimental study was conducted in three trauma intensive care units (ICUs) affiliated to a university hospital. A convenience sample of sixty adult Muslim patients receiving mechanical ventilation was randomly assigned to either Qur'an listening group or control group. Results: Significant differences in heart rate, respiratory rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and central venous pressure were found between the two groups. There was a significant increase in James' adaptation of Glasgow Coma Scale immediately after listening to the Qur'an (Mean ± SD 12.86±0.68). Conclusion: Listening to Qur'an is an effective intervention for improving hemodynamic parameters, respiratory functions and level of consciousness in mechanically ventilated Muslim patients. Implications for Practice: The study findings may be useful as an empirical reference for critical care nurses caring for patients with Islamic background.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the practices that applied on protection of perineal trauma among parturient women. Methods: a cross sectional descriptive design was carried out at two governmental hospitals at Mansoura city & two private hospitals at El Mahala El Koubra city, Egypt on 113 parturient women in the 2nd stage of labor, who were selected by convenient sample technique. Data collection lasted 6 months, by usingdocumentary data sheetand observational checklist. Results: the incidence of perineal trauma was nearly three quarter among parturient women. The risk factors for perineal trauma were short birth interval, old episiotomy, fundal pressure and maternal obesity. Meanwhile, hands on technique, perineal massage and guided pushing technique are suitable interventions that could be used to reduce perineal trauma. This study.........
