Abstract: The hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) system provides distinctive feature in deciding the role of surfactants and co surfactants combinations (Smix), oil content and ratio of aqueous phase in a microemulsion system. Also, it has definitive role in the formulation of different types of microemulsion systems including O/W, W/O and bicontinuous microemulsions asit offers a strategic approach to determine on the choice and selection of suitable emulsifiers. The present study is based on the evaluation of hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) system in fabrication of various types of microemulsions. Microemulsions can be made through two different methods i.e. Phase titration method wheremicroemulsion can.........

Abstract: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus(GDM) or impaired glucose tolerance is the most common complication of pregnancy. It is first diagnosed during pregnancy, affects ~14 % of pregnant women (135,000 women) per year in the US. It has many harmful implications for the woman, and foetus. The understanding of risk factors, pathophysiological factors and biomarkers helps in identifying the women at risk of developing GDM.Initial management includes blood glucose monitoring, Medical Nutritional Therapy (MNT) and exercise. Even if the glucose levels remain above target levels, then pharmacological therapy with insulin and metformin has to be started. This review mainlyfocuses on the epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, risk factors, clinical manifestations, screening, diagnostic criteria, treatment as well as role of pharmacist inthe management of GDM.
Keywords: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, Medical Nutritional Therapy, Hypertension (HTN).

Abstract: Streblus asper Lour (Family: Moraceae) is a small tree which is indigenous to tropical countries. The plant is a rich source of cardiac glycosides which are pharmacologically very important because of its antimicrobial, antifilarial, anticancer, anti-allergic and insecticidal activities. S. aspera is most useful in oral hygiene because its leaf extract is active against Streptococcus mutans and some other bacteria causing dental caries. In the present investigation the antibacterial activity of four solvent extracts of leaves of S. asper was assayed against bacteria causing dental caries. The results revealed that the four solvent extract fractions were not equally antimicrobial against Gram positive and Garam negative bacteria. The solvent fractions are found to be more inhibitory to Gram negative bacteria in comparison to Gram positive bacteria. Among four solvent fractions Dichloromethane (DCM) and ethyl acetate (EAE) did not cause any growth inhibition to Streptococcus mutans and.........

Abstract: Antibiotics overuse and misuse are major health issues worldwide. These misuse and overusecausethe development of bacterial resistance, increasing the burden of health issues, and rising the costs of health services. However, the PAPA scalecan assist in discovering factors influencing antibiotic use and parental practice in terms of administering antibiotics to their children. This study aims to assess parents' knowledge, behaviors, adherence, information seeking, and antibiotic resistanceawareness using the PAPA scale. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted involving 283 parents from July 2018 to January 2019.A self-administered questionnaire was distributed toparents who attended the out-patient pediatricsclinics at Benghazi Medical Center and the Children..........

Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the haematological indices of experimentally inoculated Oryctolagus cuniculus (New-Zealand Rabbit) with Trypanosoma brucei brucei at a concentration of 1.5 x 106 then treated with Diminazine diaceturate (Sequzene) for twenty one (21) days. A total of thirty rabbits of both sexes were divided into six groups (A-F) of five (5) animals each. Group A were infected with T. brucei brucei only but untreated, while group B were uninfected , untreated control. Group C was infected with T. brucei brucei and treated with Sequzene at 3.5 mg/kg, while group D was infected and treated with the drug at 7.0 mg/kg body weight. Group E were........

Abstract: Sustained Release Matrix Tablets of Glimeiride were prepared by using Different Rate controlling polymers like Eudragit RL and RS using different drug polymer ratios. Developed total six formulations by using Direct Compression method . The prepared sustained release matrix tablets were evaluated for different evaluation tests like weight variation, Hardness, thickness, friability, Content Uniformity and Invitro release studies. Out of all the six formulations F4 containing eudragit RL showed 100 % drug release within 10 hours with sustained release. So, Eudragit RL was selected as best formulation based on the invitroevaluation tests.

Abstract: Air contains large number of microorganisms including bacteria, fungi and their estimation is important as an index of cleanliness for any particular environment. It becomes imperative to undertake a study of the microbiological assessment of indoor air of our environment. Places where people visit often were selected: hospital and banks. The study sites were General outpatient department of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, First bank, and Guaranty trust bank in Ile-Ife. Different culture media were employed to collect samples and the indoor air samples were assessed using settled plate method for the enumeration of microorganisms. The samples were collected in the morning after cleaning and also after the influx of people. Isolates were..........

Abstract: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) areknown to play a dual role in biological systems, since they can be either harmful or beneficial to living systems. The cumulative production of ROS/RNS through either endogenous or exogenousinsults is termed oxidative stress. Oxidative stress determines structure modifications and function modulation in nucleic acids, lipidsand proteins which has been found to be present in various disease cells when compared with normal cells. This reviewexamines the evidence for involvement of the oxidative stress in disease process. Attention is focused on endogenous and exogenous sources of free radicals generation, the metal (iron,copper.........

Abstract: Aim of the present work was to develop simple, shorter and effective HPLC method with UV detection (210nm) and subsequent validation for forced degradation studies of Rasagiline mesylate using RP-HPLC and characterization of degradants by LC-MS/MS. The method uses isocratic the mobile phase mixture of Buffer and acetonitrile taken in the ratio in the ratio of 45:55(v/v) on Hypersil BDS, C18, 250 x 4.6 mm, 5 m column. The RSD for five injections was observed to 0.7 percentage and linearity range of 25 –150 percentage of label claim established with 0.999 correlation. The observed result shows that the method was rapid, precise, accurate and simple. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines.
