Title | : | Estimating Stock Market Volatility Using Non-linear Models |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Jyothi U*, Dr. K. K. Suresh |
: | 10.9790/487X-16216265 |
Abstract: Stock market price changes are negatively correlated with changes in volatility. A drop in the value of a stock (negative return) increases the financial leverage; this makes the stock riskier and thus increases its volatility. This effect is known as leverage effect. The volatility of asset returns can be seen as measurement of the risk for investment and provides essential information for the investors to make the correct decisions. The study focuses on developing a GARCH model for the daily closing price of S & P 500 stock price. The Akaike and Bayesian Information Criteria (AIC & BIC) techniques are used to estimate the p and q values of GARCH (p. q) model. The results show that GRCH (1, 1) is an appropriate model for the time series.

Abstract: This study aim to elucidate the association among liquidity and stock return. Ask-bid spread was used as a proxy variable to measure the liquidity. Data was taken from 10 listed companies listed on Karachi stock exchange from 2005 to 2012. Two stage regression was applied to scrutinize the data. The outcomes concluded that there is negative association among liquidity and stock return. These results are supported with (Pereira & Zhang, 2010). The main limitation of this study was time constraint so that we only incorporated ten companies. For future researcher, impact of excess return on stock sensitivity with vacation of collective liquidity can be studied.

Title | : | Online Content Publishing and Revenue Sharing: Strategies for Success |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Vinayak Nair, Sanjay Mahalingam |
: | 10.9790/487X-16218188 |
Abstract: Internet is ubiquitous today and a part of almost every human endeavour. Web 2.0 has ushered in an era of widespread participation and communication on the internet. This has given rise to User Generated Content (UGC) which is created, accessed, modified and uploaded by the users. This has opened up many avenues; one among them is online content publishing with revenue sharing. This study is an attempt to study this nascent industry and get insights into their business models and make strategy recommendations for success. We prepared four case studies, three of the dominant players in the industry and one platform started and run by the authors themselves. An online survey was also conducted to study the perception of the customers. We recommend more promotional efforts to increase awareness, greater mobile platform optimization, advanced SEO strategies, multiple language support and easier and more transparent revue sharing process.

Abstract: Researchers, supervisors, and human resource professionals have long struggled with perfecting management strategies for employees. The three most prevalent working generations currently are Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Generation Y. To understand Generation Y's employment motivations and attitudes, two ideas must be discussed: (a) a working definition of generation, and (b) an understanding of preceding generations' motivations and attitudes. This paper throws light on measures that should be taken to retain and motivate Generation Y employees and how are they important in near future.
Key words: Generation Y, motivate , retain, development ,stability ,Management St

Abstract: The study investigated the different leadership styles of the workers in the Chittoor Sugar factory located at the Chittoor town of South India. It was also studied how the factors such as work experience and education influence the leadership styles of the workers. The study mainly concentrated on the three interesting leadership styles that are at the top, middle and the bottom of the leadership authority hierarchy, namely the autocratic, democratic and the laissez-faire leadership styles respectively. Upon study it has been understood that the democratic leadership style is more dominant among the workers. The study indicates that education and work experience both have their respective influence on the worker's own leadership styles. The study reveals that with increase in any one of the two variables, relatively lesser authority is exhibited by the workers.

Abstract: The research was centered on the challenges encountered by county governments in budget preparation in Kenya, using Kilifi county as a case study. In carrying out the research, objectives were formulated to find out if budget preparation procedures and proper planning were being adhered to at the counties and the extent to which politicians influenced the budget preparation process. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data collected, and from the conclusion, it was found that budget preparation procedures are in place at the counties and being adhered to, however, political influence and public participation affected the budget preparation process, and to avert this, the researcher recommended that public participation be enhanced at the county level by introduction of systems. Publicity should also be enhanced and efforts made to incorporate the views of the public in the budget, as well as enhancing capacity building within the county treasury staff, as the central government makes efforts to deploy staff, to assist the counties in budget preparation.

Abstract: Due to an increasingly competitive market, transportation mode of petroleum products is usually considered as one of the major bottlenecks in the supply chain of white petroleum. Liberalization of the petroleum industry saw an end to Kenya Pipeline Company‟s (KPC) monopoly in transportation of white petroleum fuels in the country. As a result, oil marketing companies (OMCs) are free to choose preferred modes of transportation, which can either be pipeline, rail or road.,
