Abstract: This paper presents the comparative performance of directly and feedback connected PI and PID controller scheme with Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices, such as Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM), Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) and Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) in terms of improvements in transient stability, extenuation of system oscillations and furnishing voltage support in single machine infinite bus system (SMIB). Firstly, rotor angle deviation and speed deviation analyzed for directly connected PI and PID with UPFC, SSSC and STATCOM then for feedback connected. The comparisons of all the results are performed using Matlab simulink in term of maximum overshoot and settling time.
Key Words: PID, PI, STATCOM, SSSC and UPFC.
