Abstract: Banana peels are lignocellulosic agricultural waste that has the potential to produce bioethanol as a renewable form of energy. Pretreatment and hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass are crucial steps in bioethanol production. Our study determined the efficiency of three pretreatment techniques namely water, alkaline, and acidic pretreatments on the production of bioethanol. We applied the same hydrolysis technique using H2SO4 to all the pretreatment techniques. Our results showed highest reducing sugar concentrations when banana peels were pretreated with acid; pretreatment using water alone gave the lowest reducing sugar concentrations..............
