Abstract: Aim : To Investigate The Ability of Chaetomorpha and Nostoc Species in Remediating Crude Oil Polluted Rivers in Ogoniland. Study Design: This Study Employs Experimental Design and Statistical Analysis of Data And Interpretation. Place and Duration of Studies: crude oil polluted water samples were collected from B-dere in Gokana local government area in rivers state, where crude oil has polluted their environment. Abstract: In these days of diminishing natural resources, it has become necessary to investigate the existing resources in water hyacinth for production of food and food additives. The aim of this study was to evaluate the toxicological effect water hyacinth leaf protein concentrate (WHLPC) on rats' liver. Abstract: Climate controls the types, health and spatial distribution of vegetation. The rainfall patterns and vegetation distribution have a very high correlation especially within the tropics. Abstract: The objective of this study was to develop high fibre snack bars by utilizing whole African breadfruit seed flour (AF) with maize flour (MF) and coconut grits (CG), and to characterize the products. Proximate composition revealed 3.49 to 3.78% moisture, 2.12 to 3.25% ash, 5.09 to 8.43% fat, 10.18 to 20.34% crude fibre, 13.81 to 26.10% protein, 38.25 to 65.65% carbohydrate and 333.27 to 386.33Kcal/100g energy. Carbohydrate and energy value decreased, while protein, fibre, fat and ash content increased, with increasing addition of African breadfruit seed flour in the blend. Soluble dietary fibre decreased (5.18 to 2.87%) while insoluble (7.25 to 14.76%) and total dietary fibre (12.43 to 17.63%) increased with increasing addition of African breadfruit seed flour in the snack bars. Abstract: The production and evaluation of biscuits produced by the incorporation of peanut butter as substitute for shortening in biscuit was studied. Biscuit samples were prepared with margarine (fat) substituted with peanut butter (PB) in ratios; BSA (100:0), BSB (75:25), BSC (50:50), BSD (25:75) and BSE (0:100) where BSA was the control. The standard method of biscuit preparation was adopted. Proximate and Physical analysis were carried out on the biscuit samples produced to determine their qualities and the data obtained were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and Fisher's LSD was used to separate the means. Proximate analysis showed that moisture content increased from 0.5 to 2.63%, crude fibre increased from 0.7 to 2.1%, ash content increased from 1.03 to 2.77% and protein content increased from 7.75 to 11.64% while fat content and carbohydrate decreased progressively with increasing levels of peanut butter substitution from 20.20 to 13.02% and 69.82 to 67.84% respectively. The weight of the biscuit increased with increase in peanut butter substitution.
