Abstract: Background: Sunflower seeds are widely used in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries due to their numerous benefits. However, before introducing new products or ingredients into the market, safety evaluations such as irritation tests and risk assessments are necessary. To date, no clinical trials have been conducted on the topical application of sunflower seed oil and its potential to cause irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) or allergic contact dermatitis (ACD).
