Title	:	A Study of Safety Management in the Nigerian Construction Industry

Abstract: Given the hazardous nature of the construction industry world over, the need for an effective safety management system which aims at forestalling the risks and hazards inherent on site has been reiterated by recent studies and applicable laws. Studies however show that level of effectiveness differs from country to country; industry to industry and from company to company. This study therefore undertakes both qualitative and quantitative investigation into the safety management system of a Nigeria-based construction company with a view of determining how compliant the system is to international standards. Identifying five major components and fifteen elements in the study, both primary and secondary data were collected through personal interviews, structured questionnaire and observation and these were analysed using One Sample t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The results show that though a form safety management system exists in the company, the system is however poorly organised and consequently, it is characterised by ineffectiveness and poor documentation. It is therefore recommended that management gives an urgent attention to the company's safety management system with an intense interest to standardise its operations and functionality. As a roadmap to achieving this, the paper proposes an integrated "PCR" safety model based on the "TAB" philosophy.

Abstract: Due to the increased effects of globalization, economies are invariably exposed to global market factors and are volatile and sensitive to rising level of complexity of risks and changing conditions, making risk universal. However, due to the word of the ill effect of wide fluctuations of risk, various financial innovations have taken place at all times - derivatives being the most important. The uses of derivatives have become very predominant because of increased globalization and financial integration causing unpredictable variables and fluctuations. Though derivative instruments provide benefits, they come with certain risks as well. Low transaction cost and flexibility to take positions are the predominant features of futures and options instruments, which have lead to mushroom growth in their trading volume across the world. Popularity of equity futures contracts in India can be adjudged from the fact that in terms of trading volume.India's experience with the launch of equity derivatives market has been extremely positive. The derivatives turnover on the NSE has surpassed the equity market turnover. The turnover of derivatives on the NSE increased from Rs. 23,654 million (US $ 207 million) in 2000-01 to Rs. 315,330,030 million in 2012-13.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into the nature of the bills of exchange as a source of finance for commercial transactions among market women in Nigeria. It examines the use of the instrument both as a means of remittance and credit. It also gives a comprehensive view of the problems and prospects of the instrument. The first part gives the definition of bills of exchange, while the second part explains the usage of the instrument with the accounting entries. The third part looked at the rate of use and adoption of the instrument among these market women. A random sample of 100 respondents was drawn from market women in Ijebu-North Local government Area of Ogun State. Descriptive statistics was used in presenting the data collected. Results of analysis showed that the use and adoption of bill of exchange is not popular among Nigerian market women.

Abstract: This researchaims to identify andanalyse the influence ofeducation, skills, work motivation and leadership, either partiallyor simultaneouslyto thecareerdevelopment ofwomencivil servantsin State Polytechnic of Ujung Pandang. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and inferential statistical analysis; analytical techniquesto test the hypotheses aremultiple regressionmethods. From the results obtained by the regression analysis adjusted Rsquare is 0.210, which means that 21% of variation of career development can be explained by the variation of the four independent variables (education, skills, work motivation, and leadership), while the remaining 79% is explained by other causes beyond models. The results showed that either partiallyor simultaneously independent variables: education, skills, work motivation and leadership significantly influence the career development of women employees in the State Polytechnic of Ujung Pandang.

Abstract: The service quality has become a highly instrumental co-efficient in the aggressive competitive marketing. For success and survival in today's competitive environment, delivering quality service is of paramount importance for any economic enterprise. The underlying model of SERVQUAL (Parsuraman et al., 1988) with five dimensions is used to evaluate the impact of service quality on customer satisfaction. The present study aims to measure customers' perception and expectation towards life insurance service quality. Data has been collected from 500 customers from the five cities of Uttar Pradesh (progressive State of India). Besides, the study also investigates the relationship between customer expectation and perception of service quality dimensions and customers overall satisfaction of life insurance service quality.

Abstract: This paper takes a look at the stress which is an inevitable concomitant of organizational life causing many problems directly and indirectly to the employees in all organizations. Many past research studies proved that stress is an important factor, which minimizes interest and performance of workers. This paper deals with finding out of major sources, level and impact of occupational stress of employees in paper industry, TamilNadu and provides ways to overcome it. This study used survey methodology to examine stress causing factors of the employees in paper industry, TamilNadu with the help of direct interview, observations, structured questionnaire consisting of questions related to factors causing stress and management of stress by the employees. Questions were being implemented by Likert Five Point Scale. The sample size is 1000. Study found that the demographic variables like age, gender, salary, experience, marital status, qualification; designation has direct influence to the occupational stress. The research also found that perception of the job and level of occupational stress with demographic variables through Multiple Regression and Factor Analysis.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analytically discuss the circumstances in which flexible workings become a valuable resource for a firm in the perspective of management consideration of human resource as most valuable resource for a firm. Paper integrates the different characteristics of human resources which make human resources the most valuable resource and flexible workings as most valuable for human resources. The greatest value a firm can give to its most valuable resource is flexible working options. There is no market more competitive than workforce market. There are many benefits of human resource and circumstances in which firm only relies on its human resource. The human resource turns a firm from failure to a success. These include quality of work, right work, better decision making, better business results, customer and owner satisfaction and a sustainable competitive advantage. This paper emphasizes the critical and important role of human resource for a firm and presents a resource based view of the firm. In most dynamic environments, the firms with best level of human resource possess higher capability in responding uncertain changes. Most valuable resource needs best policies. Such practices which are helpful in attracting, satisfying and retaining human resource are also a firm's valuable resource. It is argued that the benefits of flexible workings is valuable for organization. One can argue that human mind and abilities are most valuable firm resource. The policies and programs which satisfy and motivate the most valuable resource are also valuable firm resources. Paper represents an integrated model of relationships and benefits of flexible workings for employees, customers and shareholders. Paper concludes firms' sustainable growth is based on employee satisfaction, sustainable competitive advantage, customer, and shareholders satisfaction.

Title	:	A Study on Impact of Motivational Factors on the Growth of Rural Entrepreneurs of Assam

Abstract: India may be one of the fastest growing economies of the world today. But there is a large area of darkness in the rural hinterland. 69 percent of our population lives in the rural areas and majority of people in rural areas depend on agriculture for their livelihood. About 7 crore people are without employment as per the National sample survey report published in 2012. The share of agriculture has increasingly declined in recent years resulting in continuous migration from the rural to urban areas in search of better employment opportunities and living standard. Thus, there is need to strengthen employment opportunities in the rural areas by promoting rural entrepreneurship. The same scenario prevails in the state of Assam too. The economy of the state is heavily dependent on agriculture. The cultivators and agricultural labourers' constitute 64% of the total working population.Inspite of being endowed with immense potential for development of resource- based and demand- based industries, the pace of rural industrialization in Assam has not been satisfactory. The study is made in the Sonitpur district of Assam based on data collected from 288 entrepreneurs through structured questionnaire. The findings suggest that the entrepreneurs were primarily motivated by the need for self employment, eagerness to make money, need for independence. The study also provides new insights on the impact assessment of EDP on rural micro entrepreneurs in the district. It concludes with few suggestions based on findings of the study.

Abstract: The specific objective of this paper is to present the importance of dairy supply chain management and to illustrate the current practices of diary supply chain in Pakistan. Specifically, to shed light on the production and consumption patterns in developing world mainly based on the FAO and Pakistan Economic Survey data. World milk production was 730 million tonnes in 2011 and it is expected to increase in the future. Importantly, 80 percent consumption of milk has handled by informal traders in the developing countries and this community has 98 percent share in Pakistani milk supply chain. Supply chain disruption has become critical issue that is based on informal channel bargaining power and information barriers. Currently, India, China and Pakistan have been standing in the list of four leading producers of milk worldwide. However, milk producers and consumers both have been facing economic, social and health losses due to the informal dairy supply chain partners.

Abstract: With China's economy still remaining strong, more and more international students choose China as their study destination. While pursuing their studies, these students usually travel a lot in China as a way to also understand the Chinese culture. This paper investigates Shanghai international Students' travel behavior in China. The survey for the study was carried out at three Universities in Shanghai, Donghua University, East China Normal University and East China University of Science and Technology. The findings and recommendations for future studies are presented.

Abstract: This paper investigates the effect of change management and management competence factors on the implementation of turnaround strategy within organizations that would be either in declining or turnaround situations. Literature review on the, genesis of turnaround strategy implementations, the context inwhich the implementations were considered through a desktop research methodology and conclusions made from it. A summary of the possible effects of the factors on turnaround strategy implementation is made upon which recommendations are made in order to enhance chances of successful turnaround strategy implementations. Suggestions for further research are made.
