Authors | : | Hinneh, J. T. || Nenty, H. J. |
Abstract: The performance of students in public examinations in Liberia has been an issue of serious concern to stakeholders. The quality of education in the country is threatened by the discernible decline in students' performance on public examinations especially after the civil crisis in Liberia. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which students 'performance in the core science subjects on Liberian Senior High School Certificate Examination (LSHSCE) influence their performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The study used an ex post facto design using 9,311 students who sat for both the LSHSCE and the WASSCE in 2013 and 2014 as sample.............

Title | : | Heterocycles in organic chemistry: construction of a pedagogical proposal from virtual resources |

Authors | : | Aldo Sena de Oliveira || Patrícia Bulegon Brondani || Ana Carolina Araújo da Silva || Eduarda Giese || Mauricio Raitz Junior || Morgana Sofia Zilse || Nilton Máximo Júnior |
Abstract: In this article we present the construction of a teaching material for heterocycles studies through the development of a learning object. We believe that learning objects can assist in the introduction and development of chemical concepts. In Organic Chemistry classes there is the need to use different ways to maximize the representations on the symbolic level, from multiple resources that enable the correlation between the subject heterocycles and the everyday activities. We have created a program in Microsoft Power Point that aims an easy interaction of the files with any other operating system (Windows, iOS or Android). The elaborate proposal suggests that the use of learning objects as support for teachers in the classroom, contributes to the learning especially in organic chemistry teaching

Country | : | Indonesia |
Authors | : | Misianto || Budi Eko Soetjipto |
Abstract: The English Curriculum 2013 of Senior High School requires the students to be skilful in writing a narrative text. The existing model of teaching narrative text writing so-called text memorization applied by the English teachers proves boring to the students. Such model assigns the students to memorize the text provided by the teacher and rewrite it. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed at describing the model of teaching narrative text writing by using caption picture media for both overcoming the problems faced by the students when they wrote the text and improving the students' skills of writing a narrative text. The subject of this research was 34 Social Studies 3 students of Public Senior High School 7 of Malang Even Semester in Academic Year 2015/2016..........

Abstract: Child-friendly School Initiative was introduced into Nigerian School System in the year 2000. It is a rights-based programme focusing on safe, conducive and healthy environment for greater enrollment and improved pupils' academic performance. Literature reveals paucity of empirical facts on the extent to which the programme had impacted on pupils' achievement in Nigeria and especially in Rivers State. This study therefore examined the extent to which schools in Rivers State, Nigeria are child friendly and the impact of the school friendliness on pupils' achievement in mathematics. Using both purposive and random sampling methods 41 primary schools were randomly selected from Obio-Akpor Local Government Area (OLGA), Rivers State, Nigeria.
