Abstract: In the present research work the gastro retentive floating matrix formulation of Venlaflaxine hydrochloride by using various hydrophillic polymers. Initially analytical method development was done for the drug molecule. Absorption maxima was determined based on that calibration curve was developed by using different concentrations. Gas generating agent sodium bicarbonate concentration was optimized. Then the formulation was developed by using different concentrations of polymers of various grades of HPMC and Guar gum. The formulation blend was subjected to various preformualation studies, flow properties and all the formulations were found to be good indicating that the powder blend has good flow properties............

Abstract: Plants have been the part of life forms even with the progenitors of man. Term "Ethnobotany" was coined to denote use of plants by human being.Ethnobotany deals with the direct relationship of plants with man. The term today has come to denote the entire realm of direct relationship between plant and man. Plants show enormous diversity in the form of Algae, Fungi, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms, and Angiosperms of which later are the most diversified plants. Present study focuses on ethnobotanical study of one of the largest family of Angiosperms, the family Leguminosae, of Raipur city area. Leguminosae include three subfamilies viz: Papilionoideae, Caesalpinoideae and Mimosoideae. The family has approximately 18,000 species grouped into around 650 genera with cosmopolitan distribution............

Abstract: Due to widespread use pesticides for crop protection, they are considered as contaminants in the, environmental matrices such soil which are exposed to large quantities. Three isolates from soil samples using enrichment culture technique have been isolated and grown in the minimal growth medium where Diazinon served as a sole carbon source (60 mg/l). Total three bacterial strains were screened for Diazinon degradation. The most active one was isolate BMNF7 (33% degradation. Lower degradation percentages were recorded for the two other isolates, BMRF3 and BMTF 8 (21-30%). The isolate BMNF7 was identified by morphological and biochemical studies as Bacillus sp. and identification............

Abstract: The growing industrial attention toward rapid methods and the wide use of nucleic acid amplification techniques has led for developing and applying of PCR based methods for food-borne pathogens recognition. In the current study, 20 cheese samples, collected from a local supermarket of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia were examined for the presence of metals and some pathogenic bacteria. Cheese content of Na+ and K+ were found to be higher in fresh cheese than other elements. Cr2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Al3+ were detected at low concentrations in cheese. Additionally a multiplex PCR method was developed for detection of Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli...........

Abstract: Skin prick test is one of the more important diagnostic tests against allergic diseases, it uses a synthesized allergic extracts from different allergens. In this study skin prick test was done on 83 allergic persons and 20 controls (54 male and 49 female). The test was done in the Allergic Clinic in the King Abdulaziz University Hospital with 9 different allergens which were isolated from Jeddah city. The used allergens were extract of 2 species of house dust mite, extract of house dust and extracts of 6 species of identified fungi. The extracts were used in the skin prick test and compared with the same commercial allergen extracts, imported from Omega company, Canada.............

Abstract: Serratia marcescens was exposed to mutation for becoming better the production of prodigiosin (quantitatively and qualitatively) and examined it as antibacterial activities. One isolate of S.marcescen (Wild) was exposed to different kinds of antibiotics (Gentamycin 10μg/ml) to produce mutant isolates from S.marcescen and examined to produce prodigiosin. The isolate that produce the largest amount of prodigiosin among four isolates was used for more studies. Staphyllococcus Baciilus, E.coli, and Pseudomonas were exposed to prodigiosin for testing inhibiting activity of it against these bacterial strains.

Abstract: To create awareness about hypertension in order to improve their quality of life. Free health camps were conducted; screening of blood pressure was done. Data were collected based on medical history, family history, food and social habits and so on. Individual counselling was done in the respective languages in which they were comfortable. Feedback was collected from the patients regarding their satisfaction towards the camp and the services provided to them. Also, patient information leaflets containing the basic information about hypertension were provided to each patient to enhance their knowledge even further.............

Abstract: Esterase and lipase have been consisted of α/β hydroxylase super family that characterized primarily by their α/β hydroxylase fold (common fold), which is in the center, pre-dominantly parallel β-sheet and flanked via the connections of α-helical. Nucleophilic elbow is an esterases and lipases that shared the characteristic sequence motifs (GXSXG). The residues of these amino acids compose a triad of catalyse in the specific-order (serine – aspartic acid - histidine) in the chain of polypeptide. Consequently, the most of lipases and esterases resemble serine-proteases..........

Abstract: Epigastric hernia is a rare form of ventral hernia. Obstructed epigastric hernia containing gut is very very rare presentation of usual epigastric hernia. We presented here a 72 years old man with an unusual presentation of very large voluminous mass in the anterior abdominal wall (epigastric hernia) of more than 30 years duration. Surgery revealed an epigastric hernia presenting as an inter-parietal hernia. The hernial sac contained omentum, transverse colon, part of stomach and the patient presented with acute obstruction. No similar case has been found in the medical literature.
