Abstract:Background and objectives: Utility of serial serum lactate measurement to find patients in occult hypotension and its use in treating critically ill patients. Design: Prospective non interventional observation study in RGGGH. Method: 50 patients admitted with either trauma or suspected sepsis, whose icu stay is more than 48 hours, were followed till mortality or icu stay >7 daya or <7 days. Serial serum lactate measured at 0th ,12th ,24th, 36th hour in all 50 patients. Serum lactate level and the patient outcome were compared. Result: Serum lactate at zero hour (p=0.000), 12th hour(p=0.000), 24th hour(p=0.000) and 36th hour(p=0.000) were statistically more accurate in predicting the outcome of the critically ill patient. Serum lactate is an individual prognostic factor and is useful to identify sick patients early, before MODS sets in.

Abstract: The study assessed tuberous root development, cotyledon degeneration and shoot regeneration in Telfairia occidentalis. This was with a view to establishing the tuberous root function in shoot regeneration, relationship between cotyledon degeneration and tuberous root initiation and the possibility of shoot regeneration if cotyledons are lost. Seeds from matured fruits of T. occidentalis were utilized in this study. Seedlings were uprooted at weekly intervals on a random basis to observed tuberization. Plants were also uprooted at weekly intervals, a week after tuberization and the primary shoots excised at the base, replanted and watered regularly to determine possibility of shoot regeneration. As control, primary shoots of 3 weeks old plants were excised, replanted and watered regularly.............

Abstract: Orchidaceae is the second largest family of flowering plants with nearly 35,000 species in more than 850 genera. The whole family is endangered of survival due to habitat loss, fragmentation of populations, genetic drift and huge anthropogenic pressures. The Chinese were the first to cultivate and describe orchids for their medicinal uses. Theophrastus reported the medicinal properties of orchids. De Materia Medica of Dioscorides featured two terrestrial orchid species. Abstract: Bioremediation involves the use of microbes in controlled conditions to degrade various harmful substances in soil and water. In the proposed work, five species of micro-organisms were used to analyse their impact on various physico-chemical parameters of sewage waste water. In the first stage, the actual physico-chemical parameters of the collected sample water were recorded (Fresh sample parameters). Following this, the sample water was inoculated with selected micro-organisms (one at a time). The growth of the microbes was observed carefully over a period of 72 hours after inoculation. Abstract: Cancer is the leading cause of death globally and in 2015, cancer accounted for 8.8 million deaths worldwide. Liver cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer, causing many fatalities in both developed and developing countries. Abstract: The Zingiberaceae is rich in species used as traditional medicines or spices, but extensive information about their chemistry and pharmacology is available for ginger ( Zingiber officinale). Throughout the history of formal ethnobotany, medicinal plants have been an area of keen interest Zingiber chrysanthum Roscoe has been reported for the first time from Manipur. Detailed description of the plant is provided. The plant was found growing with a small population in the forest margin and foothills of Imphal Valley, Manipur.

Abstract: The present study includes the phytochemical detection and antimicrobial activity of the leaves of Lantana camara L. and Andrographis paniculata (Burm. f.) Wall. ex Nees. Phytochemical screening of the leaf extract of leaves shade dried indicated the presence of flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, alkaloids, steroids and glycosides. The antibacterial activity of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of leaves of Lantana camara and Andrographis paniculata were evaluated against the human pathogenic bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa by well diffusion method.............

Abstract: Inflammation is part of the complex biological response of body tissues to harmful stimuli, such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants, and is a protective response involving immune cells, blood vessels, and molecular mediators. Medicinal plants have been long lastingly recognized as potential sources of natural drugs. The present study was framed to evaluate anti-inflammatory activity of the compounds isolated from Rhus mysorensis. The study was carried out using in vitro and in vivo methods. In vitro anti inflammatory activity of isolated compounds was screened using egg albumin. The inhibition of protein denaturation was found to be high 90.5, 84.1with the compounds 2 and 4 at 100μg/mL respectively. Compounds 2 and 4 found active in reducing the paw volume 0.88±0.26, 1.35±0.11 at fourth hour of treatment.

Abstract: This work aims to illustrate the forensic insects, their succession patterns and decomposition stages of rabbit corpses in ecologically different sites. Abstract: The anticancer activity of the marine alga Cladophora spp. against HT-29 colon cancer cell line was studied. In the present investigation crude extract of seaweed was prepared by using soxhlet apparatus. Methanol was used as solvent for extraction. In vitro anticancer activity of seaweed at various concentrations (7.8 to 1000 μg/mL) were studied against the chosen cell line by using MTT assay (3-(4, 5-dimethyl thiazol 2)2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide, a yellow tertrazol). The most potent antitumor activity has been shown at the concentration 7.8 μg/mL and 400 μg/mL of Cladaphora spp. extract on HT-29 colon cancer cell line

Abstract: DaturastramoniumL., a less known species of Daturais generally confused with its other related species Daturametel, the pollen of which has been proved to be allergenic. But D. stramoniumhas been found to grow luxuriantly in several places of West Bengal. There are still no reports on the allergenicity of the pollen of this plant. The present paper reports the pollen morphology and protein profile of the pollen of D. stramoniumat different stages of maturity. Abstract: Gopegarh is a place of historic of Paschim Medinipur District, is situated on the bank of River Kangsabati . The Elevation is 211 ft or 64.30 mt. It lies between 22057'10'' North latitude and 87016'50'' East longitude. There was a fort in the ancient past and had dense jungles. The plenty of vegetation of the past becoming dry bare rocky area following year after years. We should take the initiative immediately to save the ecofloristic diversity.

Abstract: Nutritional value was determined for six wild edible plants namely, Polygonum runcinatum, Pilea bracteosa, Elatostema platyphyllum, Gynura bicolor, Plantago erosa and Diplazium esculentum which were widely consumed as vegetables by the ethnic tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, India. Proximate analysis revealed rich nutrient levels in all the six wild plants compared to the common vegetables. Moisture, protein and phosphorus content were highest in Polygonum runcinatum with lowest sodium content, whereas, Pilea bracteosa was rich in lysine and proline. Ash, calcium and magnesium content were highest in Elatostema platyphyllum and it was also rich carbohydrate............
