Abstract: Background: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) considers one of the most anxious complications associated with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study is to evaluate carbon dioxide therapy on patients with DFU and compare with patients on traditional therapy. Methods: 100 patients with DFU (mean age 51.6+ 5.65 years; 56men) divided into two groups ,traditional therapy group will be treated using advance dressings and antibiotics, while CO2 therapy group will be treated using advance dressings and CO2 therapy. ABI and Doppler measured Blood flow to the affected foot; also, the size, color and sensation of the ulcerative area were all evaluated and compared between..........

Abstract: Plants are rich in a wide variety of phytochemicals with antimicrobial properties. Dacryodesedulis leaves and stem barks from two locations (Uyo and Ikom) were extracted with ethanol and water. The ethanol extracts were fractionated using solvent series of increasing polarity (dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol). Phytochemical screening of D. edulis leaves and stem barks extracts revealed the presence of phenols, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, cardiac glycosides, alkaloids, anthraquinones and terpenoids in some or all of the ethanol and aqueous extracts. The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extracts, their respective fractions (dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, n-butanol and aqueous) and the aqueous extracts was determined using agar well diffusion technique. Ethanol extract..........

Abstract: The"(E)-5-chloro-1-((E)-1-((7-chloro-6-fluorobenzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)imino)ethyl)-3-(p-tolylimino) indolin-2-one" was to synthesize, purify, characterize and evaluate the biological activity of newly synthesized structural analogs of Benzothiazole derivatives Indole moieties. All these molecules (5a-5o) were characterized by FTIR, H1NMR and mass spectral analysis along with physical data. The biological potentials of the newly synthesized compounds are evaluated for their anticonvulsant and anti-inflammatory activities. From anti-inflammatory evaluations, dose level of 200mg/kg of test compounds reported significantly higher activity when compared to dose level of 20 mg/kg. Moreover, compound 5f, 5h, 5k and 5o (200 mg/kg) resulted in similar anti-inflammatory activity when compared with Diclofenac (20 mg/kg). All the compounds were evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity. Three........

Abstract: Evaluate the acute and chronic toxicity of Ruta Chalepensis aerial part aqueous extract used in folk medicine in Iraq in Albino Wistar male and female rats. The study of chronic toxicity at the doses 100, 300 and 600mg/kg body weight in male and female rats for 90 days, recorded no mortality. Treated animals showed a normal weight change compared with control. The parameters of male fertility showed a significant decrease in the weight of testis, epididymis and seminal vesicle as well as a reduction in the number and the motility of spermatozoids at treated groups by the doses 300 and 600 mg/kg body weight compared to control group.

Abstract: Alcohol is a known substance in the society and readily abused. The consumption of alcohol has continued to increase among students in various institutions of learning across the world. This research work was carried out to ascertain the determinants and possible effects of alcohol consumption among tertiary education students. This is a cross-sectional study involving 121 students (39 males and 82 females) with ages <20years, 20-35years and >35years in first and second year of their studies. The study shows that students <20years consumed more alcohol (57.9%), followed by >35years (50%) and the students between 20-35years consumed less alcohol (48.2%). The study also shows that males (74.3%) consumed more alcohol than females (42.6%). Most respondents consumed alcohol to increase sexual libido and performance as well as reading and understanding. There was no marked......

Abstract: In many ant species, nuptial flight tends to be short in time and assumed to be synchronous across a large area. Here, we report that, massive nuptial flights of Carpenter ants (Camponotus sp.) occur frequently throughout the summer and beginning the monsoon, and their alates form up to 90% of the diet of the birds during this period. This fat and protein-rich diet enables both sexes accumulate may serve as an energy source and feed for juvenile and nestlings for their growth. The annual nuptial flight period enable them to exploit the extremely nutritious forms of ant alates when the juvenile and nestlings' energetic demands are highest.

Abstract: This study examined the effect of Aloe vera gel on lipid profile and some serum biomarkers of liver function in high salt-fed wistar rats. Twenty male wistar rats (200-250g) were randomly assigned into four groups (n=5): 1 (control) received rat feed and water; 2 (ALOE) received 600mg/kg of Aloe vera orally once daily; 3 (SALT) received high salt diet (8% NaCl feed + 1% NaCl drinking water); 4 (SALT+ALOE) received high salt diet + Aloe vera. The feeding regimen lasted for six weeks after which blood samples were collected for analysis. Total protein and globulin concentration was significantly (p<0.001) increased in ALOE and SALT groups compared with.........
