Title | : | Bone Regeneration Using Hydroxyapatite Crystals for Periapical Lesion |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Rohit Arora || Dr. Shalya Raj |
Abstract: Bone defects are tricky and weakening for the whole periodontium. They need to be managed early and tactfully. In today's dentistry many new materials have been discovered which claim non surgical bone regeneration. Although success has been reported, but it takes time for the bone to regenerate fully. The conventional way of bone grafts hence cannot be neglected and still stands strong as a treatment option. This article is based on one such material wherein the advantages of a bone graft (xenograft) have been utilized for a quick recovery of the patient.

Title | : | Imaging in Gluteal teratoma: a rare site of extragonadal teratoma |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Pronami Borah || H.K.Dutta || Lipee Nath |
Abstract: Extragonadal teratomas are rarely encountered in infants and children. These tumours are reported in retroperitoneum, floor of the mouth, mediastinum, cranio-facial region or even in the solid organs of the body. Most of the gluteal teratomas reported in the literature are in fact, lateralized sacrococcygeal teratomas. Imaging always plays an important role in the localization & characterization of these masses as clinical presentation often nonspecific. We are reporting a case of fetiform teratoma in the gluteal region in a 6 year old girl where CEMR showed a well encapsulated lesion containing well differentiated small & large bowel loops within .The tumor did not have any connection with the sacrum or coccyx and was successfully removed. Histology showed well differentiated bowel as well as fetiform structures.
Key words: Teratoma; extragonadal teratoma; fetiform.

Title | : | Incarcerated Vaginal Pessary- A Report of Two Cases |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | K.Sofia mercy || K Saraswathi |
Abstract: A pessary is a medical device inserted into the vagina, either to provide structural support, or as a method of delivering medication1. The use of vaginal pessaries for symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse is well established. The favourable physical and chemical properties of silicon have made pessaries safer to use for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse. Complicationsare rare when pessary care is regular. We report two cases of partially incarcerated vaginal pessary. First one being a case of pessary neglect, who presented after 2 years of pessary insertion, second case is a partial incarceration of a ring pessary despite regular follow up at sree balaji medical college.

Title | : | Triorchidism- A Rare Genitourinary Anomaly |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Agarwal Garima |
Abstract: Polyorchidism is defined as the presence of more than two testes. Triorchidism is the most frequent presentation. This anomaly is extremely rare. We report a case of triorchidism presenting with inguinal hernia in a 50 year old male. Intra-operatively, on left side there were two testes which belong to thum type III and one testis on right side. Histologically it was proved. Post-operative sonography confirmed it. Management of polyorchidism is still controversial. The management of polyorchidism will depend upon the location, size and anatomical organization of the testicular drainage system and the age of the patient.

Title | : | Solid – Cystic Hidradenoma: A Case Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr.Thiriveni Balajji G S || Dr.KavithaM || Dr. Dhanalakshmi A |
Abstract: Solid – Cystic Hidradenoma is a tumor of sweat gland origin with incidence rate of 5.1 cases per 1 million people annually [1] accounting it to be a rare case to be reported. We discuss here, a 24 year old female patient presenting with a cystic nodule in the thigh with clear cell changes in histomorphology. The differential diagnosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma was ruled out based on morphological patterns. The case is reported here owing to the rarity of the tumor, its unique morphological features and importance of distinguishing it from metastatic renal cell carcinoma deposits.

Authors | : | Dr. Derbashree Sarkar || Jayanta Saha |
Abstract: Stress in medical students is not uncommon and is process orientated. Although minimal amount of stress is desirable in everyday life and is necessary to add a spark in a healthy competitive spirit, the undue stress has undesirable impact on students and also on one's mental and physical health. Medical colleges do have a stressful environment that often exerts a negative effect on the academic performance, physical health and psychological wellbeing of the students. The current study was undertaken to assess the levels & sources of stress among first year undergraduate medical students and to also find if medium of study in their school level also contribute to stress.

Title | : | A study of adenosine deaminase level for differentiation and diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion from non tuberculous effusion in north coastal Andhra Pradesh |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. D. Chandra Kala || Dr. B Sesha Saila || Dr. K Saradamba || Dr. K AshaLatha || Dr. K Hari Krishna |
Abstract: The aim is to study the significance of adenosine deaminase levels in the diagnosis and differentiation of tuberculous pleural effusion from other non tuberculous pleural effusions. METHOD: A total of eighty (80) patients of pleural effusion were included in the study, out of which 50 were cases of tuberculous pleural effusion and 30 controls of non tuberculous pleural effusion. RESULTS: Adenosine deaminase levels in pleural fluid were increased in cases with 150.86+15.73 IU/L (mean + SD ) compared to that of controls with 19.93+2.14 IU/L (mean+SD) with a statistically significant 'p' value of <0.001. Lactate dehydrogenase levels in pleural fluid were increased in cases with 220.82+30.99u/l(mean+SD) compared to controls with 75.40+15.54 u/l(mean+SD) with statistically significant 'p' value of <0.001. CONCLUSION: Increased ADA levels are suggestive of tuberculous effusion, hence help in the diagnosis and differentiation of TB effusion and other non TB effusions.

Title | : | Respiratory Epithelial Adenomatoid Hamartoma-A Case Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Sujata S. Giriyan || Dr. Arunima Satkirti |
Abstract: Respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartomas (REAHs) are rare, benign glandular proliferations of the sinonasal cavity and nasopharynx, originating in the schneiderian epithelium. Recognition and awareness of this benign lesion is necessary to distinguish it from inverted papilloma and adenocarcinoma, to avoid aggressive surgery. We report a case of REAH diagnosed on histopathology.

Title | : | Dentigerous Cyst in Maxillary Sinus Region: A Case Report and Outline of Clinical Management for Paediatric Dentists. |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Duhan R. || Tandon S. || Vasudeva S. || Sharma M. |
Abstract: Dentigerous cyst is a common developmental odontogenic cyst affecting both jaws but have higher predilection for mandible. It involves the crown of unerrupted, impacted or embedded teeth. Pathogenesis involves accumulation of fluid between the unerupted or impacted tooth crown and surrounding follicle, giving rise to the characteristic clinical and radiographic finding of a cystic lesion surrounding the neck of the tooth. Careful evaluation along with meticulous clinical and radiological investigations could help clinicians to arrive at the correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning.

Title | : | Overcoming the Psychological Challenges by Prosthetic Rehabilitation of a Teenage Female with Ectodermal Dysplasia: A Clinical Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Deshraj Jain || Dr. Rahul Vishnoi || Dr. Alka Gupta |
Abstract: Treatment planning of ectodermal dysplasia (ED) depends on the available alveolar bone structure, teeth present and the patient's age. In teenagers, psychological trauma is common because of the societal alienation they often face; hence, a psychological evaluation and management is also required. This report follows the prosthetic rehabilitation of a teenage girl with ED, with a tooth supported-overdenture in the maxillary arch and a mucosa-supported denture in the mandibular arch. The importance of prosthodontist is also highlighted in addressing the psychological aspects of ED along with motivating and encouraging the patient throughout the treatment.
Keywords: Ball attachment,hypohidrotic, retentive housings, tooth-supported overdenture, window technique.
