Abstract: The study was carried out to compare the postoperative morbidity among patients of conventional andendoscopicseptoplasty and to assess the efficacy and use of endoscopic septoplasty with other endoscopic surgeries.BetweenNov 2015 and Nov 2016, 50 patients underwent septoplastyplasty, 25 were endoscope assisted and 25 were convential. The difference in the functional outcome of both the surgeries was insignificant. There was a significant difference with respect to complication.Posterior deviations were best corrected by endoscopic septoplasty. Complication rate washigher in conventional septoplasty. The endoscopic approach to septoplasty facilitates accurate identification of thepathology. It facilitates realignment by limited and precise resection of the pathological areas .Complications are lesser with endoscopic septoplasty.

Abstract: Introduction: Recently combination of diagnostic endoscopy and systematic understanding of the lateral nasal wall with CT in the coronal plane has become the corner stone in the evaluation of the PNS disease. This is the basis for the concept of FESS. Material and Method: Patients attending ENT OPD in RIMS, Ranchi with any sino-nasal complains lasting for more than 4 weeks and not responding to medical line of management. Patients are selected by random sampling method. Results: The most common co-morbidity found among the patients is chronic Rhinosinusitis in 31 cases (62%). Middle meatal purulent secretions are the most obvious finding in DNE evaluation seen in 31 (62%) cases. Anterior ethmoidal sinus haziness is seen in 37(74%) cases on CT scan with majority of cases showing associated sinus involvement.............

Abstract: Aim: To analyse the role of alcohol as a causative agent of acute pancreatitis in patients getting admitted at CMCH with features of acute pancreatitis were enrolled in study Methods:The patients admitted with features of acute pancreatitis were examined clinically, basic investigations was done and diagnosis was confirmed with the investigations like serum amylase, USG abdomen and pelvis , CECT abdomen and pelvis. Retrospectively history of number of years of alcohol intake was elicited and also the severity of pancreatitis was assessed................

Abstract: Chronic periodontitis is a multifactorial disease that results in inflammation and destruction of the supporting structures of the tooth, mainly the periodontal ligament, cementum and alveolar bone (1). Traditional periodontal diagnostic procedures include probing depths, bleeding on probing, clinical attachment levels, plaque index and radiographs assessing alveolar bone level. All these clinical and radiographic parameters are difficult in identifying and measuring the progression of the disease (2). Research evidence suggest that altered activities of various enzymes, both at cellular and sub-cellular levels, can influence the disease process. Thus, measurements of enzyme activities can furnish valuable diagnostic and prognostic information (3, 4).

Abstract: Background: Heat cured acrylic resin is the most widely used material in the manufacture ofdenture base, but has mechanical properties weakness (transversal strength and impact strength). Alternative to increase the mechanical properties of acrylic resin is the utilization of reinforcing fibre that is polyethylene fibre that has advantage such as good aesthetic, easy to manipulate and increase mechanical strength. Purpose:This study was aimed to determine thermocycling effect on impact and transversal strength of heat cured acrylic resin denture base material without and with Ribbond THM and Ribbond Ultra polyethylene fibre addition, also to determine the effect of Ribbond THM and Ribbond Ultra fibre addition to impact...........

Abstract: Backgroud: Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is the commonest presenting symptom in Gynaecology outpatient department. Endometrial sampling could be effectively used as the first diagnostic intervention in AUB, although at times, its interpretation could be quite challenging to the practicing pathologists. This study was done with hysterectomy specimen to evaluate histopathology for identifying the various etiologies in the age group between 45-60yrs presenting with AUB. Objective: To determine the histopathologic spectrum of lesions associated with AUB in age group between 45-60yrs...........

Abstract: Context: Non communicable diseases (NCDs) prevalence is increasing in India day by day. Stroke is one of the NCDs which is commonly encountered in hospitals. It may be due to an inadequate blood supply to part of the brain as a result of low blood flow, thrombosis or embolism, or spontaneous haemorrhage into the brain substance or spontaneous haemorrhage over brain substance. Aims: To determine the risk factors of stroke and its relation with the type of stroke. Materials and method: It is a Cross-sectional study done on 200 cases of stroke and 200 control groups. Controls are chosen by simple random sampling..........

Abstract: Low back pain (LBP) is the most prevalent musculoskeletal condition and one of the most common causes of disability. In a report of World Health Organization in 2002, LBP constituted 37% of all occupational risk factors and occupies first rank among the disease complications caused by work. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with its multiplanar capabilities and lack of ionizing radiation provides excellent anatomical details of the lumbar spine and detects the cause of LBP in a majority of patients. This cross sectional study was carried out in Radiology Department of MGMH, from 2015-2016. The study included 192 patients who presented.........

Abstract: Parkinson's disease(PD) is a metacentric neurodegenerative disorder results with accumulation and aggregation of alpha-synculein(α-Syn) (or alpha-synculeinopathy) in the substantia nigra in the central nervous system(CNS).Contributory factors include pesticide exposure, head injury and agriculture background. PD has been considered to be a non-genetic disorder, however around 15% individuals with PD have firstdegree relative who has the disease Mutations in genes including SNCA,LRRK2 and gluococerebrosidase (GBA) found to be risk factor for sporadic PD. Abstract: A case of right sided pulmonary hypoplasia with tuberculosis is described . A 7 months male was admitted in our department with complaints of recurrent chest infections since birth. Clinical examination revealed smaller right hemithorax. Serial chest Xrays showed non progressive lesions over several months . Bronchoscopy and CT scan thorax confirmed the diagnosis of right sided pulmonary hypoplasia. CBNAAT of bronchial secretions and gastric aspirate was positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It was not associated with any other developmental anomaly

Abstract: A "Radiation Alert Inspector" survey meter was the instrument of choice used in measuring and obtaining the indoor ionizing radiation profile placed at 22 selected presumable hotspots of increase radiation (coded A1-A22) as identified by a global positioning system within the Radiology department of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba. Values obtained from the measurements were converted from micro Sievert per hour (μSv/hr) to mili Sievert per year (mSv/yr). The calculated mean indoor post exposure dose value was in the range of 0.09 – 0.20 μSv/hr (0.60-2.01 mSv/yr)............

Abstract: Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome(MALS) is a rare disorder characterised by postprandial intestinal angina due to coeliac artery compression. The median arcuate ligament is fibrous arch that unites the diaphragmatic crura on either side of the aortic hiatus, passes superior to the origin of the celiac artery and is a continuation of the posterior diaphragm that wraps over the aorta. If it lies too low on the aorta, the ligament may cause symptoms of abdominal pain related to compression of the celiac artery.
