Abstract: Hypertension is one of the commonest worldwide disease afflicting humans. It is an important public health challenge. A new analysis shows that in 2000 nearly one billion of the world's population was hypertensive and suggests that the global burden of hypertension may reach 1.56 billion people worldwide by 2025.The situation of hypertensive disorders in India is more alarming.

Abstract: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a major cause of chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer. Antibiotics-based H. pylori eradication treatment is 90% effective, but it is expensive and can have side effects and antibiotic resistance. Probiotics costs less and are easily available. These studies were conducted to investigate the role of probiotics in the treatment of H. pylori infection.

Abstract:Laparoscopic surgery has been in practice in the developed worldfor several decades now. However, in Nigeria, like in most developing countries, laparoscopic surgery is still at an infancy stage, partly because of lack of trained personnel and also due to lack of facilities. Laparoscopic appendicectomy has been shown in several studies to shorten the hospital stay, reduce morbidity and encourage early return to work for patients who were treated this way compared to open appendicectomy.

Abstract:Maintenance of Temperature and humidity is crucial in the care of the new born. The requirements vary depending on the gestational age at which the baby is born. A humidity of 60 to 80 percent is essential. (1,2).Even after the discharge of the baby from the hospital the new born is subjected to diurnal variations in temprature and cold at night . Using low cost available materials we have developed a cost effective neonatal open care system suitable for tropical weather in south Indian population. The temperature varies from 38 degrees C in day in summer to 16 or 18 degree C in the night at winter. The baby is at risk of hypothermia in winters or exposure to low temperatures when there are heavy rains.

Abstract:As per our knowledge of recent literature, Ameloblastoma is a true neoplasm of odontogenic epithelial origin is known to be the second most common odontogenic neoplasm after odontoma which is said to have the highest rate of occurrence.The incidence rate of Ameloblastoma, combined with its clinical behaviour, makes ameloblastomaone of the most significant odontogenicneoplasm. Unicysticameloblastoma (UA), a variant of Ameloblastoma is known to comprise of those cystic lesions that show clinical, radiographic, or gross features of a cyst, but on histological examination it shows a typical ameloblastomatous epithelium lining which is part of the cyst cavity, with or without luminal and/or mural tumour growth.

Abstract:Dental trauma occurs frequently in children and often can lead to pulpal necrosis. When pulp tissue becomes necrotic in immature teeth, the prognosis of the teeth is compromised because of the root(s) presents several challenges including difficulties in cleaning and shaping large canals with open apices, obturation of canals with open apices, and potential root fractures caused by thin and /or weakened root walls. An optimal approach for treating the immature permanent tooth with necrotic pulp would be to regenerate functional pulpal tissue that fosters continued root development and immune competency. This article will review the early attempts to regenerate pulp tissue and current progress and feasible strategies of tissue engineering in endodontics, and dental pulp regeneration.

Abstract:Gestational hypertension is defined as hypertension arising after mid-pregnancy and is distinguished from preeclampsia by the absence of proteinuria. Some of the women with gestational hypertension progress to preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is associated with increased oxidative stress which is known to be one of the main pathological mechanisms responsible for the mortality and morbidity associated with the condition. Proteinuria though not essential for the diagnosis of preeclampsia, is the common clinical and diagnostic feature of the disorder in women with hypertension. Hypoalbuminemia is common in pregnant women with preeclampsia but the impact of hypoalbuminemia on on maternal and fetal morbidity in preeclampsia is not as yet well known..
