Title | : | A comparative study of hyperbaric Ropivacaine with Bupivacaine as spinal anaesthsia |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Singhal Rajneesh Kumar || Vyas C.K. |
Abstract: Introduction: Despite off new and excellent inhalational and intravenous anesthetic agents, spinal anesthesia is still a good choice, as it is highly effective both for surgical procedure as well as postoperative pain management and cost effective also.To present study was performed to comparatively evaluate the efficacyofRopivacaine with Bupivacaine on pain control in terms of duration and intensity of motor block, sensory block and muscle relaxation.

Title | : | Study of outcome of endovenous laser ablation as a minimally invasive technique for treatment of varicose veins. |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Shivaji Pole || Monarch V. Shah || Vivek S. Shah |
Abstract: The study was carried out to know the outcomes of endovenous laser ablation as a treatment for varicose veins and to study the effectiveness and safety of the laser fiber 810 nm wavelength used for ablation. 303 patients were diagnosed with varicose veins on color doppler and treated for the same by using a 810 nm diode laser. Foam sclerotherapy with injection Polidocanol was used concomitantly in a few cases. Tumescent anesthesia was delivered perivenously under ultrasonographic guidance prior to ablation. Immediately after the procedure a color doppler was performed to confirm occlusion of the ablated vein and to rule out deep vein thrombosis. Patients were then followed up and evaluated clinically and by ultrasound at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and yearly thereafter to exclude recurrence of varicose veins & to look for any adverse reactions.

Abstract: The internet provides abundant information in the field of medicine. E-learning is gaining popularity among medical students,that needs access to computers and sufficient knowledge about information technology. The aim of the present study was to assess the current level of knowledge on the computer and internet usage among Physiology post graduate medical students in Tamilnadu and Pondicherry. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted in Tamilnadu and Pondicherry from February 2015 to August 2015 to assess computer and internet usage among Physiology postgraduate medical students.

Abstract: Aim: To study the Variations in Intraocular pressure (IOP) during different phases of menstrual cycle among healthy young population. Methods: A cross-sectional study. Healthy young female volunteers (n-46) with regular menstrual cycle and without any other ocular and systemic issues were included in the study. Menstrual, ocular and relevant data were collected using questionnaires. IOP was measured using computerized non-contact Tonometer individually for both the eyes during each phase of the cycle. The data were analysed using SPSS software version 17.0

Title | : | Percutaneous coronary interventions in Assam, North East India: procedure indications and outcome |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Pranab Jyoti Bhattacharyya || Anjan Kumar Bhattacharyya || Jogesh Chandra Barkataky |
Abstract: There is a paucity of data on the procedure indications and outcome of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI) performed in centres from North East India. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the procedure indications and in hospital and 30 days outcome of PCI procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory of Gauhati Medical College Hospital during the early period of its inception. Methods: We conducted an observational descriptive study on 151 symptomatic coronary artery disease patients, who underwent primary, rescue or elective PCI with stent deployment in Gauhati Medical College Hospital, from January 2010 to December 2011. The primary objective of the study was to identify the procedure indications, clinical profile, pattern of stent use and to document the in hospital and 30 days adverse outcomes. The patients were followed for one month and complications were noted.

Title | : | Surgical Management of Lateral End Clavicle Fracture |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. P. Ramesh Vyravan || Dr. M. Mohan Kumar |
Abstract: Clavicle derives its name from Latin word Clavicula referring to the musical symbol of similar shape. Clavicle is called collar bone. It gives the curvature at the base of the neck without which cosmetically it is not better. Clavicle fractures are the most common in children. It is estimated that one in every twenty fracture is clavicle fracture. In fact 35 - 44% of shoulder girdle fractures are clavicle fractures. The importance of proximity to the vital structures in neck, thorax necessitates the early and proper treatment of these fractures. Clavicle forms diarthrodal joint with acromion in the lateral side as the medial side also. Has one primary centre for lateral end appearing usually on 45th day. Occasionally has a secondary centre at the lateral end appearing at 18 – 20 years but it rapidly fuses with the shaft. Lateral end of clavicle is usually more prominent than the medial end normally. Lateral end contribution to the growth is less when compared to the medial end. Lateral end has no physeal plate at all.

Abstract: Scorpion sting envenomation is a preventable life-threatening medical accident. Timely intervention and management can prevent the mortality due to scorpion sting which is grossly under reported. Objective: This study aims at identifying the demographics, clinical manifestations, management and response to treatment in the victims of snake bite over a period of one year. Methodology: It is a prospective observational study conducted on all the paediatric cases admitted to Niloufer Hospital, with history of scorpion sting. The clinical details, investigations and treatment plan based on the envenomation for all the patients are studied thoroughly.

Abstract: Introduction: The complete or partial absence of an X chromosome in the karyotype of phenotypic females has an impact on tooth morphology. The aim of this study was to determine the morphological characteristics of occlusal surfaces of first molars in girls with Turner syndrome (TS). Material and methods: The study population was comprised of 40 individuals with TS, aged from 9.2 to 18 years, and 40 healthy girls, aged from 9.3 to 18 years, selected as the control group. The number and size of the cusps, and the shape of the occlusal surface of the first molars of both jaws were analyzed on intraoral images and plaster dental casts. А chi-square test was used for analysis of the differences in first molar occlusal morphology between TS and control group.

Title | : | Soft Tissue Consideration for Implants Placement in Esthetic Zone |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Dolly D. Dattani || Dr. Jasuma J. Rai |
Abstract: Replacement of missing teeth with implants has made a revolutionary change in restorative dentistry. There is increasing demand for esthetics along with restoration of comfort and function. Adequate zone of attached tissue around a natural tooth or implant prosthesis is desirable to better withstand the functional stresses resulting from mastication, oral hygiene efforts and to maintain predictable levels over time. The importance of soft tissue in implant dentistry is often underestimated.

Title | : | Intentional replantation of maxillary second molar; case report and 15-year follow-up. |
Country | : | Palestine |
Authors | : | Dr.Abu-Hussein Muhamad || Dr. Abdulgani Azzaldeen |
Abstract: Intentional reimplantation is a procedure in which tooth extraction is performed followed by reinsertion of the extracted tooth into its own socket after performing the desired procedure. In this article, intentional reimplantation is described and discussed as a treatment approach for aperiapical lesion that is in maxillary second molar. After 15 years, the patient was asymptomatic, the tooth was still functional and a recall intraoral periapical radiograph showed an intact periodontal ligament space and lamina dura with no evidence of gross root resorption or ankylosis.
