Abstract: Background: Takayasu arteritis is a rare, systemic chronic inflammatory large vessel vasculitis that causes obliterative stenosis and occlusion and post-inflammatory dilatation in arteries. It comprises of varied clinical features and imaging spectrum due to number of vessel involvement. Symptoms are usually non-specific. Digital Subtraction Angiography is considered the gold standard to evaluate location and type of arterial involvement. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the clinical and imaging spectrum of Takayasu's arteritis and to classify the disease based on angiographic findings. Material and methods: The study......

Abstract: Background: Hysterectomy is a routinely done surgical procedure. However there have been documented psychological impacts on the women in the post-operative period. The impact can have a significant effect on the long term recovery and quality of life. The present study was designed to assess if education and counselling can aid in removing immediate stressors in these patients. Methodology: A pool of 60 women who were undergoing elective hysterectomy were selected for the study. The consent was obtained for inclusion. The subjects were equally divided in two groups. One was provided with detailed education and counselling regarding the surgery , while the second was not. HADS questionnaire was used to assess the anxiety and depression in the subjects. Observations: There were no statistically significant differences in the age and diagnosis of the subjects in......

Abstract: Aim: To compare the efficacy of topical Hydrogel wound dressings with that of conventional wound dressings in healing of diabetic foot ulcers Methods : A Prospective Comparative study was done from December 2018 to October 2020 among 100patients with clinical diagnosis of diabetic foot ulcers. They were divided into two groups; Group A: 50 patients subjected to hydrogel application and Group B: 50 patients subjected to normal saline dressing. The day of appearance of granulation tissue was observed and Size of the ulcer was measured on; Day 0, Day 7 and Day 14. One sample t-test was used to compare the results. Abstract: Myasthenia Gravis is the most frequent neurological disorder associated with thymoma, which encompasses Thymoma associated Myasthenia Gravis (TAMG) [1]. Thymoma-associated Myasthenia gravis (TAMG) is associated with autoantibodies to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR-Ab) presenting with fatigable weakness of skeletal muscles [2]. The thymus is abnormal in 75% of the patients with antibody-positive MG, in 65%of the patients it is usually hyperplastic and in an additional 10%, there are thymoma [3]. The prognosis of Myasthenia Gravis (MG) in patients with thymoma is equal or less malignant when compared to Myasthenia without a thymoma probably attributable to the early detection and remission with thymectomy [7]. We hereby present the manifestation of Generalized myasthenia in a young female after successful radiotherapy of thymoma and its association with autoimmune antibodies..

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of 3 different rotary Ni-Ti instruments on change of the oval-shaped root canal through measuring of canal circularity and dentin thickness removal by using multislice computed tomography. Thirty extracted single-rooted permanent mandibular premolar teeth with single oval-shaped root canal were selected and randomly divided into three equal group according to the type of Ni-Ti rotary system used for root canal preparation: Alpha, RaCe and ProTaper system. The amount of dentin thickness removal was assessed through comparing pre and post-instrumentation CT scan at different root canal levels (cervical,......

Abstract: Background: Preterm infants i.e. those born before the end of 37 gestational weeks constitute between 6 and 10% of births in the West, which is why they are more exposed to serious medical problems during the neonatal period that can alter the development of oral tissues, especially the modification of the palate. Preterm infants also have limited development to the suction response and usually have to be fed through an orogastric tube (SOG). The orofacial region plays an important role in the development of the neonate. During the early stages of oral cavity development, the bony structures of the palate are malleable and the pressure of any object causes the shape of the palate to be easily shaped......

Abstract: Background :LVenous lake is a common vascular lesion presenting as elevated, usually dome-shaped papule, ranging in color from dark blue to dark purple and are most commonly found on lips, face, neck and ear lobes. These lesions are benign but can bleed profusely if injured. Lot of treatment modalities are there including laser sclerosing agents, cryotherapy with variable outcome. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of radiofrequency coupled with a surgical incision made on the roof of the venous lake on lips . Material and Methods: Four female patients with venous lake on the lips were taken for this preliminary study. Results: All the four patients......

Abstract: Wound healing requires energy and is a catabolic process. Patients who are severely malnourished demonstrate impaired wound healing and predisposition to infection. Malnutrition is common. It appears in about 30 per cent of surgical patients with gastrointestinal disease and up to 60 per cent of those in whom hospital stay has been prolonged because of postoperative complications. It is frequently unrecognized and therefore patients often do not receive appropriate support. There is a substantial body of evidence to show that patients who suffer from starvation or have signs of malnutrition have a higher risk of complications and an increased risk of death in comparison with patients who have adequate nutritional reserves. Long-standing........

Abstract: The study aims to assess the morbidity associated with ports at the site of their insertion in laparoscopic surgery, to define, control risk factors for complications and their management. All patients who underwent laparoscopic surgeries, between 2019 and 2021, at GGH, Guntur, in the Department of General Surgery after receipt of written consent were included, and port sites were monitored for complications. Data collected and analyzed by various statistical methods. Of the 100 patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery, 36 had developed complications directly linked to the port-site during a minimum follow-up of two year period; port site discharge (PSD) was the most frequent, followed by port site infection, bleeding.
