Abstract: Introduction: Atrial Septal defect are the third common type of congenital heart disease. The risk of development of pulmonary vascular disease, a potentially lethal complication, is higher in female patients and in older adults with untreated defects. ASD with severe pulmonary hypertension pregnancy is contraindicated because morbidity and mortality is more and sometimes fetal complication is more, even intrauterine fetal death occurs.......

Abstract: Laurence Moon Bardet Beidl Syndrome (LMBBS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder which involves multiple organs in the body. It is common in children born out of consanguineous marriages and both sexes are equally affected. The main features of this syndrome include progressive cone rod dystrophy, nystagmus, obesity , polydactyly, mental retardation, learning disabilities, speech disorders, developmental delay, renal abnormalities, polyuria/polydypsia, hypogenitalism, hypospadias, ataxia and poor motor coordination. Here we present a case report of a 32 year old male with complaints of marked diminution of vision in both eyes since more than 20 years and other features suggestive of LMBBS..

Abstract: Papilledema refers to swelling of the optic discs secondary to increased intracranial pressure, and occurs when axonal transport is interrupted at the optic disc head.1 Papilledema evaluation in a child is a common, but often stressful endeavor for the patient, parents, and ophthalmologist alike, although it is rare in pediatric population.2 Papilledema is not very common in pediatric age group and if at all it is detected, it should be managed energetically to prevent vision threatening complications like optic atrophy. Papilledema, or optic disc swelling due to elevated intracranial pressure (ICP), can represent a harbinger of life-threatening etiologies such as intracranial mass.....

Abstract: Removing kidney stones via percutaneous access is a less invasive and more effective procedure than traditional open stone surgery. The advantages of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) over open urinary stone surgery include lower morbidity and mortality rates, faster recovery, easier secondary procedures, and greater cost effectiveness.[1] However in recent years there has been a modification in which drainage is provided by DJ stent instead pf nephrostomy tube Called as "Tubeless PCNL". . Wickham reported the first tubeless PCNL in 1984 but it did not gain acceptance until 1987 with the studies by Bellman[2] The objective of our study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of tubeless PCNL.

Abstract: Background: Neonatal septicemia is a major cause of mortality and morbidity, worldwide. It may manifest as early or late onset septicemia, occurring in less than 72 hours of birth or after 72 hours respectively. Risk factors predisposing to neonatal septicemia are multifactorial and include maternal, foetal and environmental factors. Isolation of bacterial agent from blood by cultural techniques serves as the "Gold Standard" for diagnosis. However, as culture results are obtained after 48 hours, many adjunctive tests, which are available, are in use and include haematological.....

Abstract: Background: Preeclampsia is a complex pregnancy complication with an unclear pathophysiology. Predicting and managing it is crucial. Uric acid, a potential biomarker, has been investigated in this context. This study explores the relationship between uric acid levels and preeclampsia, focusing on individuals initially diagnosed with gestational hypertension (GHTN). Materials and Methods: A prospective cohort study involving 152 pregnant women with GHTN was conducted at a tertiary hospital in Bangladesh. Patients were monitored throughout pregnancy. Uric acid levels, clinical data, and outcomes were collected and analyzed using statistical methods. Results: Among the participants....

Abstract: Introduction: Obesity is a growing public health concern worldwide, and it has become a significant risk factor for various non-communicable diseases. Medical students, as future healthcare providers, play a critical role in preventing and managing obesity. However, limited research has been conducted on the prevalence of obesity among medical students in Bangladesh. Understanding the prevalence and associated factors of obesity among medical students can help develop effective interventions to prevent and manage obesity among medical students and the general population. Therefore, this study aims to assess the prevalence of obesity among medical students of Bangladesh Medical College and explore its associated factors.....

Abstract: Background: The connection between premature birth and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a significant research and clinical focus. Premature birth, before 37 weeks of gestation, elevates the risk of health problems, notably neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Potential factors contributing to this link include underdeveloped organs, NICU stressors, and genetics. Aim of the study: This study aimed to assess the relationship between premature birth and autism spectrum disorder in Bangladesh. Methods: This hospital-based case-control study was conducted at the Neurology OPD of a tertiary care hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh from January'2019 toJune'2019. The case group comprised 69 children diagnosed with autism spectrum....
