Abstract: This paper examines the relationship between worker competence management (competence planning, competence development and competence monitoring as dimensions) and organizational alertness of Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in Rivers State, Nigeria. The research design adopted was survey research design through cross sectional design that examined how worker competence management affects flexibility and the level of analysis was at the macro (organizational) level of DMBs in Rivers State. The population consisted of managers of four strategic units/departments of the 19 DMBs operating in Rivers State and these managers were 76. For the purpose of data collection, questionnaire was used as the research instrument which was distributed to the 76 respondents.....
