Abstract: The aim of the study was to investigate a potential relationship between the lateral incisor morphology and palatal canine impaction on 3D CBCT images.This retrospective study was based on the treatment records of 34 patients with one or both canines palatally impacted and 30 patients without canine impaction. The following morphometric parameters were evaluated in each patient on the upper lateral incisors: crown and root length, length ratio of the crown and root, mesiodistal and labiolingual width at the cementoenamel junction, and mesiodistal and labiolingual width at the middle of the root.The lateral incisors on the side of the impacted canine are shorter in the group of patients with impaction in comparison with the control group without impaction.

Title | : | A Rare Case of Myeloid Sarcoma Presenting As Bilateral Proptosis in a Patient of Acute Myeloid Leukemia |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr.Sunita Singh || Dr. Debashis Datta || Dr.Aniruddha Debnath |
Abstract: Bilateral proptosis in a case of acute myeloid luekemia is a rare and unusual presentation. The extramedullary proliferation of the myeloblasts is known as myeloid sarcoma. It is also known as chloroma. About 2% of AML cases presents as myeloid sarcoma. It has approximately the same rate of occurrence in both sexes. Children are more often affected than adults. We report a very unusual case of acute myeloid leukemia in a 3 year old patient presenting with sudden onset bilateral proptosis as its initial manifestation. Radiological investigation, fnac and bone marrow study was done for confirmation. The purpose of reporting such a rare entity is to highlight AML as a rare but important differential diagnosis of bilateral proptosis.

Title | : | Prediction of Thirty (30) Days Mortality in Acute STEMI by Triscore (TIMI Risk Index, TRI) |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Rahul Rathee || Dr. Pankaj |
Abstract: Effective risk stratification is integral to the management of patients with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and has an impact on early therapeutic decision making. In addition, increasing economic pressures have intensified the need for appropriate triage and clinical resource utilization. Tools that enhance the clinician's ability to rapidly and accurately assess risk are thus of substantial interest.

Abstract: Hyperglycemia is the major factor responsible for the development of diabetic microvascular complications and plays an important role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) by means of glucotoxicity. Effective glycemic controlnot only reduces the incidence of microvascular complications, but also corrects the metabolic abnormalities that contribute to the progression of the disease.

Abstract: Actinomycosis is a chronic suppurative granulomatous disease characterized by multiple abscesses and draining sinuses. It usually manifests as cervico-facial, thoracic or abdominal actinomycosis. Cutaneous actinomycosis is extremely rare. Definitive diagnosis depends upon the clinical triad of painless subcutaneous nodules, sinuses and discharge followed by histological examination. Moreover, treatment can be challenging. Combined antibiotic therapy is preferable to monotherapy to avoid drug resistance and to eradicate residual infection.

Country | : | Iraq |
Authors | : | Darya Saeed Abdulateef || Trifa Abdalla Mahmood || Rana Adnan Ahmed || Shirwan Hamasalih Omer || Nasreen Abdulrahim Wafi |
Abstract: Background: Spirometry tests after bronchodilator administration are used to evaluate the reversibility of airway obstructions and to determine degree of the response to the bronchodilator. However, the frequencies of bronchodilator responses in non-obstructive spirometry patterns have been assessed in few studies. Patients and Methods: one hundred thirty three subjects with respiratory symptoms who underwent reversibility spirometry were enrolled in this study. The data were analyzed retrospectively. The subjects were grouped into two categories of obstructive and non-obstructive (the non-obstructive group was further classified into normal, restrictive, and mixed subgroups) patterns based on the baseline ratio of forced expiratory volume in the first second to the vital capacity (FEV1/VC ratio) and the vital capacity (VC).

Authors | : | Dr. SADHANA ROY |
Abstract: Nitrous oxide first synthesized by Joseph Priestly in 1722. Its pschychotropic effects were first appreciated by Humbphrey Davy. Its association with Haematologic disease was reported by Larsen et tal in 1956.Methylene Tetrahydrofolate Reductase is one of the main regulatory enzyme in metabolism of Homocysteine. Mutation in MTHR gene led to reduced activity of enzyme and hyperhomo cysteinemia. C677T and A 1298C mutations are two most common mutations.

Abstract: Background: Medico-legal autopsy otherwise known as coroners autopsy dates back to 4000BC. It was performed to protect the future what is known as horuspicy. All deaths due to unnatural causes and deaths that are believed to be due to natural causes but the cause of death is not certain or known are subject to inquest. The objective of an inquest is to ascertain a verdict whether the death was due to a natural, accidental, suicidal or homicidal cause. The inquest system exists in all parts of the world. In English legal system the person who conducts an inquest is called a coroner. In Nigeria medico-legal autopsy dates back to 1917.

Abstract: Complex Chromosomal Rearrangements (CCRs) involving three or more chromosomes are often detected in phenotypically normal female patients with an adverse obstetric history. Here, we report a 27-yr-old phenotypically normal female with a history of multiple pregnancy failures and carrying a complex chromosomal rearrangement involving chromosomes 4, 10, and 16. CCRs are difficult to interpret using routine cytogenetic studies with GTG banding. FISH was used to clarify and for the correct interpretation of the CCR.
Key words: complex chromosomal rearrangement, FISH, cytogenetics, chromosomes 4, 10 and 16, infertility

Abstract: Pseudoaneurysms of vertebral artery are extremely rare and can be caused by penetrating or blunt trauma.Injuries of vertebral artery are far less common compared to other extracranial carotid arteries due to its deep location and anatomical protection in vertebra.We are reporting a case of a 30 year old male patient who developed a pseudoaneurysm of vertebral artery following anterior decompression surgery for cervical spinal stenosis.
