Abstract: Background :-The spleen is a haemo-lymph organ and belongs to the reticulo-endothelial system. It consist of a large encapsulated mass of lymphoid and vascular tissue. spleen is highly vascular, friable and elastic, purple in color, moving with respiration. Spleen filter blood by taking out worn-out erythrocytes or may microbial antigens from the circulation, where as lymph nodes filter lymphs. Materials and methods:- The study included 50 human adult cadaveric spleens. Apparently normal human cadaveric spleens from both sexes were selected. Spleens were removed from abdominal cavity by conventional dissection method. They were washed with tap water to clean debris and fatty tissue. Then they were weighed and their length, breadth, width were measured. Also shape of spleens were observed...............

Abstract: Incidences of Snake bite are inseparable from human life, especially in rural areas because the reptiles live both in domestic and in wild. Snake bite is of great public health interest not only because it volves huge financial Commitment from the government but also due to its morbidity and mortalityAs for the medical fraternity is concern the responsibility lies in reducing the morbidity , mortality as well as reducing the xpenses. This can be achieved by using appropriate dose of ASV in appropriate time and early fasciotomy for the needy patients at the right time There are many guidelines available for medical management were as no proper guidelines available for managing the snakebite induced cellulitis and compartmental syndrome we have attempted to propose a few guide lines for the management of the same...............

Title | : | Dynamic and Segmental Methods of Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Delivery in Prostate Cancer – Analysis of Volumetric and Dosimetric Parameters |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sateesh Kumar Gv || Kesava Ramgopal A |
Abstract: The use of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) is now widely advocated for the treatment of prostate cancers, to increase the therapeutic ratio. IMRT is delivered with a conventional multileaf collimator (MLC) either in dynamic mode (DMLC or sliding window) or in segmental mode (SMLC or step-and-shoot). This study aims to compare the volumetric and dosimetric parameters between the two methods of IMRT delivery.There was significant difference in favour of DMLC plans for Beam-on time (MU) for PTV46(p=0.0001), PTV76(p=0.0001), treatment delivery time (p= 0.0001 ), mean dose to normal healthy...............

Title | : | Estimation of Levels of Non-Enzymatic Antioxidants In Saliva of Chronic Periodontitis Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Before And After Phase 1 Periodontal Therapy- A Prospective Follow Up Study |

Authors | : | Dr Seba Abraham (Professor and HOD) || Dr Aparna M Nair (Final Year MDS) |
Abstract: Periodontitis is one of the most common oral infections in human beings1 and it is also cited as one of the most significant reasons for tooth loss in adults. Investigations have displayed an increased risk of periodontitis in diabetic patients and this is because of the sheer number of cellular and molecular adaptations taking place in the periodontium as a sequel of prolonged hyperglycemia2. The imbalance between periodontal tissue destruction and repair concerning the host response to bacterial challenge results in periodontitis. Polymorphonuclear Neutrophils (PMNs) functions as the primary host defense against periodontal pathogens

Abstract: Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the female genital tract is a rare and highly malignant entity. It is usually diagnosed in adolescence, in contrast to vaginal rhabdomyosarcoma, which occurs mostly in infants. With the advent of multimodality treatment, prognosis seems to be improved. We report a case of a 20-year old young female presenting with a protruding mass from vaginal introitus and irregular bleeding. Polypectomy was done and microscopic findings were confirmed as a cervical embryonalrms.Neoadjuvant chemotherapy showed excellent response, after which Total Abdominal Hysterectomy and bilateral Lymphadenectomy was done...............

Title | : | Grapheme-Phoneme Association Skill in High And Low Academic Achievers |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Preeti Singh || Akanksha Kumari || Dr. A.K.Sinha || Nachiketa Rout |
Abstract: Reading and writing are the most basic, most central and the most essential part of learning (Bryant & Bradley, 1983). The National Institute of Child Health & Human development (NICHD) considers reading failure to reflect a national public health problem (Lyon, 2013). Grapheme Phoneme Association (GPA) skill (phonics) is one of the early precursors of reading disability (Justice & Kaderavek, 2004) and is poorer in reading disabled children (Nicholson, 1992). The aim of the present study was to explore the capability of Grapheme Phoneme Association of High Academic Achievers (HAA) – children who scored more than 75 percentile marks and Low Academic Achievers (LAA) - children who scored below 35 percentile marks................

Title | : | Effect of Hypoxia on Stemness and Differentiation of Dental Pulp Derived Stem Cells |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Anupama Kakkar || Puneet Sharma || Manimuthu Mani Sankar || OP Kharbanda || Sujata Mohanty |
Abstract: Stem Cells are characterized by their properties of self renewal and multipotency. These stem cells are localized inside our body at specialized niches, which are known to have low oxygen tension. Dental pulp tissue found in the middle of the tooth is one such niche which experiences hypoxic conditions due to its anatomical location. However under in-vitro conditions, stem cells are cultured under normoxia condition (21% O2 concentration). It has been known since decades that low oxygen tension in tissue cultures has positive effect on the cell growth. In this study, we tested this hypothesis on in vitro isolated, expanded, Dental Pulp Stem Cells (DPSCs) grown under low oxygen.................

Abstract: Background: Detailed knowledge about specific metabolic pathways and molecular mechanisms involved in the development and pathogenesis of prostate disorders are still incomplete.To decide the presence or absence of disease, a cut-off point is chosen for data interpretation. In the current work, we reported the preliminary reference values for panel of biomarkers from healthy Nigerians to aid diagnosis of prostate disorders. Methods: Whole blood was collected from 399 healthy Nigerians men between the ages of 30-70 years. Serum sarcosine, testosterone, and various derivatives of PSA were evaluated using standard procedures..........

Abstract: Sexual harassment (SH) has been defined asa non-consensual and unwelcome sexual behaviour that affects lives of the victims.Approximately 50% of all women in the United States at some time or other experiencesome type of sexual harassment, either in the workplace or in academic environments. SH has been identified as the most frequent form of "sexual victimization" and as a category of violence against women. SH has also been described as a form of social control exerted by men to "keep women in their place." The Fourth World Conference on Women (FWCW) Beijing Declaration (UN documents, 2004) included SH in its category.............
