Abstract: Background: With recent advances in the field of caries research and diagnosis it is possible to remineralize early carious lesions or white spot. The present in vitro study was carried out to evaluate and compare the remineralization of artificially created subsurface enamel lesion, using three different remineralizing agents. Method: 60 enamel specimens were divided into 3 groups, with 10 control and 10 study specimens. After immersion in demineralizing solution for 48 hours the enamel specimens were treated with following remineralizing agents, Group A- mousse containing Casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP), Group B- dentifrice containing functionalized...........

Abstract: Labour pain is among the most severe pain experienced by women. In developing nations, intramuscular opioids can be considered to overcome labour pain. The study is conducted to evaluate the efficacy of intramuscular Tramadol as a labour analgesic, labour accelerator and its effect on both mother and newborn. In this prospective study, 50 low risk primigravida patients who fulfilled the selection criteria of a full-term pregnancy with vertex presentation with good uterine contractions and already in active phase of labour were administered 50 mg Tramadol hydrochloride intramuscular injection and compared with 50 controls. The degree of pain relief in active stage of labour..............

Abstract: Introduction:Nasal obstruction is one of the most common problems bringing patient to an ENT surgeon and deviated nasal septum is the most common cause of the problem. Yet there is no universally accepted classification of the septal deviation till now, for guiding the surgeon to do proper intervention in treating the problem. Various classifications were put forth by many surgeons, based on their clinical acumen and diagnostic imaging (like C.T. PNS), but none of them were accepted as a standard. In the present study, it has been attempted to classify the nasal septal deviation by clinical and Computerized.............

Abstract: 'Tetralogy of Fallot' is the most common cyanotic heart disease and without surgical correction around 50% of children with TOF die within the first few years of life and survival beyond 30 years without surgery are uncommon. Uncorrected cyanotic heart disease in pregnancy carries a significant risk both for mother and foetus. With several anatomical defects and its physiological impacts; anaesthesia in such a patient become challenging. We reported the anaesthetic management of a patient with uncorrected TOF with severe preeclampsia posted for emergency caesarean section.

Abstract: Introduction: Superficial fungal infections of skin are common worldwide. The etiological agents are varied with emerging resistance pattern especially among azoles. The present study aims to demonstrate the current trend of anti fungal resistance among superficial mycoses using the method of disk diffusion in a peripheral hospital. Materials and Methods: This prospective study was done at a Government zonal hospital from Nov 2015 to Nov 2016. 135 consecutive OPD patients of the department of Dermatology clinically diagnosed to have a fungal infection of skin and then confirmed on KOH mount were included. Skin scrapings were cultured on SDA and differential media. Isolate and identified species were further subjected to anti fungal sensitivity test using Itraconazole, Fluconazole, Ketoconazole and Voriconazole by the Disk diffusion method...............

Abstract: For the gastrointestinal surgeon, the clinically most relevant form of peritonitis is secondary bacterial peritonitis that is peritoneal inflammation caused by loss of integrity of the gastrointestinal tract with consequent leakage of the intestinal contents into the peritoneal cavity. Despite advances in surgical techniques, antimicrobial therapy and intensive care support, management of peritonitis continues to be highly demanding, difficult and complex. This article attempts to study the etiology, clinical profile, aids to diagnosis and management of perforation peritonitis including management of complications encountered after surgery.

The age of the patients ranged from 5 to 70 years with a peak between 30 and 50 years. Overall, males were more frequently affected than females, the male: female ratio being 1.4 :1. CNS neoplasms occurred predominantly intracranially 42 cases (84%), whereas the remaining 8 cases (16 %) were spinal (ratio: 5.25 :1) The commonest presenting symptoms were headache, motor weakness and seizures. Abstract: Traditional Medicines derived from medicinal plants are used by about 60% of the world's population. Diabetes mellitus is a public health problem which leads to serious complications over time. Experimentally, many herbs have been recommended for treating diabetes. In most cases, however, the recommendations are based on animal studies and limited evidencesavailable about their clinical usefulness. This review focuses on herbal drugs and plants used in the treatment of diabetes. The search was done in various databases using the key terms diabetes..............

Abstract: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an emerging public health problem worldwide, with increasing cost of healthcare particularly in third world nations like Libya. Hematological parameters are generally influenced in CKD and the effect increases with the stage of CKD. Hematological profiles are rarely investigated in CKD subjects in our population. This study was conducted to determine the hematologic profile in Libyan CKD subjects and to compare it in both hemodialyzed and pre-dialyzed patients. The study included 55 hemodialyzed CKD patients, 50 pre-dialyzed CKD patients, and 48 healthy controls..............

Abstract: Introduction:The abnormalities in patients with sickle cell anaemia (HbSS) result in multi- organ and systemic complications and clinical manifestations. The study aims at assessing and determining the correlates of the haematological and some clinical parameters in steady state adults with homozygous Hb S compared with adults with homogygous Hb A controls. Method: It is a cross-sectional study involving 83 subjects (58 patients and age- and sex-matched 25 Hb A controls).Patients aged 16 – 52 years with confirmed HbSS using cellulose acetate electrophoresis at pH8.4 in steady state and age and sex- matched HbAA apparently healthy controls were recruited..............

Abstract: The solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare soft tissue tumor that most commonly occurs in the pleura cavity. However, it has also been described in other sites of the body. A limited number of SFTs cases have been reported in the soft tissues of the oral cavity. The diagnosis depends on microscopic and immunohistochemical features, although imaging may help. Since this tumor shares a number of similar features with other mesenchymal lesions, the histological diagnosis of SFT may present with difficulties. Close follow-up over several years is recomended due to potential late local recurrence. We present, as we believe, the first case of an endosseous SFT, arising in the mandible.

Abstract: Biodentine is new calcium silicate based cement that exhibits physical and chemical properties similar to those described for certain Portland cement derivatives. This article demonstrates the use of the newer material, Biodentine as an apical matrix barrier in root end apexification procedure. This case reports present apexification and successful healing with the use of Biodentine as an apical barrier matrix.

Abstract: The present study had the objective to evaluate the efficiency of an ointment based on Copaifera L (copaiba) for the treatment of recurrent mouth ulcerations. After selected, the volunteers were divided randomly in two groups, one used the ointment based on copaiba oil and the other acetonide triamcinolone ointment, after 3 months the groups were inverted, that way, each one would be the their own control. The results showed that the utilization of the copaiba oil was effective on the reduction of pain and on the healing time.

Abstract: Chronic non healing ulcers are quite complicated and proper management involves an understanding of immunology, psychological ,nutitional issues, the pathophysiology and metabolic interface. wound dressing plays one of the important roles. It is therefore vital that the process and problems of wound healing should be increasingly addressed by all surgeons involved in the treatment of deep wound patients and in the identification of development and use of ideal wound repair material.............
