Abstract: Anterior open bite is considered as one of the most complex and difficult problems to treat in aesthetic dentistry. Over the years, various multidisciplinary treatment modalities involving orthodontic or surgical correction of anterior open bite have been successfully implemented. However, these options require multiple clinical visits as well as long term treatment duration. This paper presents a case report of immediate non- invasive aesthetic management of anterior open bite using composite resin restoration.

Abstract: Background: Iron deficiency anemia is the most common form of anemia in India. Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is used in diabetic patients as an index of glycemic control reflecting glucose levels of the previous 3 months. Like blood sugar levels, HbA1c levels are also affected by the presence of variant hemoglobins, hemolytic anemias, nutritional anemias, uremia, pregnancy, and acute blood loss. Previous studies suggest that iron deficiency anemia (IDA) affects the levels of HbA1c.We conducted study to analyze the effect of iron deficiency anemia on glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in non diabetic Indians..........

Abstract: Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is a histologically distinctive lesion that occurs primarily in the viscera and soft tissue of children and young adults. It is considered a tumor of borderline malignancy because of its tendency to recur locally (at least at certain sites) and its ability to metastasize rarely. It is composed of a variable mixture of collagen, inflammatory cells, and usually cytologically bland spindle cells showing myofibroblastic differentiation. There are many uncertainties about the pathogenesis of IMT. Currently, surgery is the mainstay of the treatment for IMTs..............

Abstract: In India, there is an accelerating demographic switch to non-communicable diseases among which congenital malformations and genetic disorders are important causes of morbidity and mortality. Due to the high birth rate in India , large number of infants with genetic disorders are born every year almost half a million with malformations and 21,000 with Down syndrome and pose a big financial and social burden to nation and family. Hence identifying down syndrome in antenatal ultrasound and karyotyping will help to reduce the incidence of down syndrome and thereby reducing the social and economical constraints...............

Abstract: Actinomycosis is a rare, chronic, and slowly progressive granulomatous disease caused by filamentous Gram positive anaerobic bacteria from the Actinomycetaceae family (genus Actinomyces).1In humans, actinomyces are often normally found in the oral cavity, the gastrointestinal tract and the female genital tract. Infections of the oral and cervicofacial regions are the most commonly reported cases.2We present three cases where actinomycosis was diagnosed incidentally. The first case was of scalp where it presented as a soft tissue swelling. The second case was of dorsum of foot where it was found in a cyst and the third diagnosis was done in a specimen of appendicectomy.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of fluoridated and non-fluoridated carbamide peroxide gel on enamel microhardness (Vickers hardness number).60 extracted human premolar teeth were selected. Teeth were divided into 3 groups. Group A- Control (no bleaching), Group B- (non-fluoridated bleaching agent) group C (fluoridated bleaching agent). All specimen were bleached for 21 days with the respective bleaching agents for 4 hours. Microhardness testing was done on baseline (prior to bleaching) and on 21st day (post bleaching).Statistical analysis was done by paired t test, and (0.01) is considered as level of significance. After bleaching all samples group B showed decrease in micro-hardness, while microhardness was increased in group C. Enamel microhardness is reduced after bleaching with 16% CP gel, but fluoridated bleaching agent increased the enamel microhardness................
