Abstract: 95 children with cerebral palsy of varying age groups were examined clinically for their lower limb torsion. All the children come under two different types of cerebral palsy with spasticity. Femoral and tibial torsion were assessed individually, as they can alter the gait pattern in these children. In our study the femoral and tibial torsions were assessed clinically by assessing the femoral in-torsion and out-torsion, the trans malleolar axis and the thigh foot axis. These lower limb torsions vary within the two groups in this study, between limbs of the same individual and between different age groups. It is important to know the normal variations for better management and prognosis.
Keywords: Femoral in-torsion, out-torsion, Trans-malleolar axis, Thigh foot angle/axis.

Abstract: The Importance of diagnosis in orthodontics cannot be over-emphasized. Based on the correct diagnosis, a proper treatment and the prognosis of the case have to be formulated. This case report presents a case in which the skeletal and dentoalveolar relation is Class III and based on this diagnosis, the treatment plan consisted firstly to achieve the harmony between the skeletal and dentoalveolar relation and then later on correcting the tooth size arch length discrepancy with extractions in both the arches to achieve a good harmonious end result. Thus the decision of balanced extractions was made after achieving balanced skeletal jaw base relation.

Abstract: Polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the most common endocrine disorders in women of reproductive age, affecting 5% to 10% of women worldwide. This familial disorder inherited as a complex genetic trait1. It is characterized by a combination of hyperandrogenism (either clinical or biochemical), chronic anovulation, and polycystic ovaries. It is frequently associated with insulin resistance and obesity2. PCOS receives considerable attention because of its high prevalence and possible reproductive, metabolic, and cardiovascular consequences. Studies in first-degree relatives of patients who have PCOS have shown that 24% of mothers and 32% of sisters are affected, suggesting a major genetic association3.The disease begins soon after puberty mostly 15-25 years of age and commonly manifests during reproductive period. Health consequences of PCOS relate to insulin resistance and hyperandrogenism. They include diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome (MS), endometrial hyperplasia, anovulatory infertility, and depression.............

Abstract: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the major complications of Diabetes Mellitus. It is estimated that 20-40% of diabetic patients will develop a diabetic renal disease. Diabetic nephropathy is the leading cause of end stage renal disease in India and across the world. But it is not the sole renal disease in diabetic patients. Kidney diseases other than diabetic nephropathy can occur in diabetic patients, and are known as non diabetic renal disease (NDRD), either isolated or superimposed on DN. The prevalence of NDRD is very high in type 2 diabetic patients and it varies widely depending on the populations being studied and the selection criteria. Several predictive factors which can be used as pointers to NDRD have been identified by different studies. Objective: To study the prevalence, clinical spectrum and predictive factors of NDRD in type 2 diabetic patients with renal involvement...........

Abstract: A common clinical challenge facing all practitioners treating patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus today are the guidelines for metformin contraindicating its use in men and women with serum creatnine concentrations ≥1.5 and ≥ 1.4 mg/dl (≥132 and ≥123 mmol/L),respectively. In a patient tolerating and controlled with this medication should it automatically be discontinued as the creatnine rises beyond these cut points over time? Stopping metformin often results in poorly controlled glycemia. Despite the proven benefits ,metformin remains contraindicated in a large segment of the type 2 diabetic population, largely because of concerns over the rare adverse effect of lactic acidosis. For these reasons ,the drug has been restricted to individuals with normal creatnine levels as a surrogate for renal competence. How many patients are unable to receive this medication on the basis of guidelines which, although well intentioned ,are somewhat arbitrary and outdated based on modern assessments of renal status...........

Abstract: Introduction and Objectives : Women in this part of the country are mostly from the low socio-economic group and the diet they intake with low zinc and high fibre and phytate content may result in decreased bioavailability of zinc when there is increased demand during pregnancy. It is established that the requirement for zinc increases during period of rapid growth such as pregnancy, infancy and puberty. The main aim of the study was to find out the relationship between maternal and umbilical cord blood level of zinc as well as that of non- pregnant mothers in relation to pregnancy outcome especially the maturity of the baby. Materials and Methods : The current study was a cross sectional study, conducted in the Barpeta district of Assam amongst 200 people who reported at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital. Sampled and labelled blood was estimated for the status of zinc by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. The results obtained was calculated in parts per million and statistically as range, mean, standard deviation and percentages.........

Abstract: One of the most common medical emergencies that can occur in the appointment is an acute allergic reaction. The various forms of systemic allergicreactions are very well defined. These clinical situations are rarely described in the specialized literature and, in turn, poorly understood. Oral atopy comprises a wide variety of symptoms and signs sometimes difficult to differentiate from other adverse reactions. It is important to know the dental materials and other substances of stomatological use causing clinical diseases presented in oral mucosa; it corresponds to Stomatology Specialist his knowledge for diagnosis and successful treatment.

Abstract:Finger and partial finger amputations can be the result of a congenital anomaly, trauma, tumour surgery or malformations. Surgical reconstruction may not be possible, owing to size or location of the defect. The patient's medical condition or personal desires may also preclude reconstructive surgery. In such cases, prosthetic rehabilitation is indicated. A case report has been presented where a custom made glove type prosthesis was fabricated using silicone elastomer.

Abstract: Inner Thigh Rashes (ITR) is a syndrome represented by mild skin lesions usually characterized as erythematous, slightly inflamed, and with either pruritus or burning sensation. It is typical in sportmen, joggers and bikers and depends on too many factors, as wetting, chafe and rubbing and perpetual contact with allergic fabric and their dyes during training. We have chosen a panel group of 11 bikers who like to ride 60 km/day and after having stated all the grades of the skin erythemas and all symptoms of ITR, we prayed them to apply two emulsions apt to cure all the causes that evoke ITR. To do this, we have prayed the volunteers to respond to questionnaires and we have examinated day after day for a week, noticing the eventual remission, that can be designated in 3-4 days for almost 70% of cases.........

Abstract: Introduction: The anatomic location of the mental foramen is still a matter of debate. There are variations in the position of mental foramen in different populations. These variations indicate accurate detection of mental foramen position which result in safer dental procedures. Aim: To carry out a morphometric assessment of the mental foramen in patients with different facial types. Material and Methods:Ninety computerized cone beam tomographic scans from brachycephalic (n=30), dolicocephalic (n=30) and mesocephalic (n=30) facial types were used. Computerized cone beam tomographic scans were obtained using a Tomographic I Cat Unit and the Dolphin Imaging 11.0 Program. The mental foramen position was evaluated and compared in the three subgroups. The Bartlett and Shapiro-Wilk´s tests were used to evaluate the homogeneity of the variances. Influence of the three facial types on cephalometric measurements was evaluated using two way ANOVA and Tukey´s test. Correlationsbetweenage and some measurements of interest were assessed using Pearson´s moment correlation test.........

Abstract: The root canal is a complex system of finely tuned and synchronized small tributaries present along the body of tooth dentine. Therefore, knowledge of pulp anatomy is essential for endodontic treatment success, as lack of sound knowledge of the pulp anatomy can contribute to treatment failure. With the advancement of technological aids and numerous research have laid the foundation of multi rooted teeth or canals as the rule rather than exception. As such, bifurcating canals, multiple foramina, fins, deltas, loops, cul-de-sacs, C-shaped canals and accessory canals are commonly encountered in most teeth. So, accurate diagnosis followed by location, cleaning and shaping and finally obturation of such variations of canals is important as it determines the prospect of success of endodontic therapy

Abstract: Background: Preeclampsia syndrome is clinical spectrum of worsening disease with attenuated manifestations to cataclysmic deterioration, Life threatening for both mother and fetus. It affects 5-10% of all pregnancies & forms deadly triad with haemorrhage and infection being a direct cause of maternal mortality. Preeclampsia is associated with hyper insulinemia, increased insulin resistance which induces hypertriglyceridemia, endothelial dysfunction. It may lead to preeclampsia in genetically predisposed pregnant women. Association of high serum lipids with gestational protinuric hyerptension is highly suggestive of role for lipid profile analysis as diagnostic tool for preeclampisa.........

Abstract: Introduction: Lateral cephalograms display numerous cranial, facial and oral anatomic structures along with sella turcica which is considered vital for many radiographic analyses. It is demarcated by dense thin white line and is used to measure the position of maxilla & mandible in relation to the cranial base and to themselves. Various studies have found an association between morphological variations of sella to malocclusion and also gender differences have been noted. This retrospective study was carried out to evaluate these morphological variations of sella turcica and its relation to type of malocclusion. AAiimm:: To determine dimensions and morphological variations of sella turcica in different age groups & correlation between sella and type of malocclusion........

Abstract: Purpose: This is an in vitro study to compare fracture resistance of different reattachment techniques and adhesive materials on incisal tooth fragment reattachment. Methodology: 100 sound human maxillary central incisors were selected .10 were maintained as a control group. Remaining 90 were divided randomly into 3 groups (n=30) based upon the materials used for reattachment and further divided into 3 subgroups (n=10) on the basis of different reattachment techniques. The materials used are dual cure resin cement, flowable composite, nano hybrid composite and three different reattachment techniques used were simple reattachment , overcontour and internal dentinal groove. Data was analyzed with ANOVA (One-Way) test and Post-Hoc Bonferroni test. Results: The control group had a significantly higher fracture resistance (p= 0.001); the highest fracture resistance values were obtained by Dual cure resin cement followed by Nano hybrid composite and minimum in Flowable composite .When compared between three different reattachment techniques internal dentinal groove showed the maximum fracture resistance followed by over contour technique and minimum showed the simple reattachment technique.........

Abstract: Aim : To compare postoperative analgesia among epidural Tramadol, Fentanyl & Buprenorphine over first 24 hours in terms of onset of analgesia, duration, quality of analgesia, number of doses, haemodynamic parameters, respiratory rate and side effects. Methods And Materials: This study was a prospective comparative randomized study. After ethical committee approval a total of 60 patients undergoing elective lower limb or lower abdominal surgeries : were divided into three groups (Group T, Group F and Group B) of twenty each. All the patients were premedicated with Tab. Alprazolam 0.25 mg at 10pm night before surgery and Tab.Ranitidine 150 mg at 7am on day of surgery . Results. The demographic profile (age wise and weight wise distribution) was comparable in all the three groups. The onset of analgesia was shortest (3.75 ± 0.36 min) in fentanyl group followed by tramadol (7.76 ± 0.65 min) and buprenorphine (13.98 ± 1.46 min) groups........

Abstract: Background: Primary open angle glaucoma is the commonest form of glaucoma accounting for atleast half of all the glaucomas. It is also known as chronic open angle glaucoma and chronic simple glaucoma. It is typically asymptomatic until significant visual field loss has occurred. Patients usually present with significant visual field loss in one eye and advanced disease in the other. Diabetes Mellitus is one of the risk factors for POAG. Objectives: • To study the hospital based prevalence of POAG among the diabetic patients attending Tertiary Eye Hospital camp. • To screen all diabetics for glaucoma. Methods: Four hundred diabetic patients, both insulin dependent and non insulin dependent, above forty years of age, attending Tertiary Eye Hospital, who came to Department of Ophthalmology through camp, between September 2016 and May2017, were screened for the detection of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma..........

So, accurate diagnosis followed by location, cleaning and shaping and finally obturation of such variations of canals is important as it determines the prospect of success of endodontic therapy.

Abstract: Dengue fever is a zoonotic arthropod-borne viral disease caused by Dengue fever virus (DENV) of the Genus Flavivirus and the FamilyFlaviviridaethat is endemic in Africa and beyond. The illness could be fatal especially among children and depleted patients. This study was designed to diagnose recentDengue virus infectionsamong febrile patients attending University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital using ELISA kits for the detection of DENV IgM antibodies and NS1 antigens. Ninety one (91) venous blood samples were randomly collected from patients attending Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for malaria test between January and May, 2016. The samples were analysed using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays for dengue virus IgM antibodies (manufactured by Inverness Innovations Australia Pty Ltd ) and for Dengue virus NS1antigens (manufactured by Bio-Rad, France). The results showed a prevalence rate of 37.4% for DENV IgM antibodies and 9.9% for DENV NS1 antigens, with 3.3% of the subjects testingpositive for both IgM and NS1 antigen........

Abstract: Patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) may have frequent episodes of abdominal pain and/or fever
of uncertain cause. While many of these episodes represent the possibility of complications; Computed
tomography (CT) was used to evaluate 67 Saudi Arabian patients with SCD .In 67 of the patients; the liver was affected in 59 patients, lungs in 56 patients, kidneys in 55 and gall bladder in 22 patients and pancreas in 5 cases. Spleen abnormalities were found to be Splenomegaly, cyst, abscess, infarction, Splenomegaly with cyst
and Splenomegaly with abscess where the patient's age and SC type were considered. Hepatic abnormalities including focal necrosis, Hepatomegaly, abscess, cyst; infarction as well; Cholelithiasis, gall stones and dilated common bile duct and acute pancreatitis were also considered as an important manifestation of SCD. Renal abnormalities were found to be papillary necrosis, renal abscess, Stones with hydronephrosis, renal vein thrombosis, renal failure and renal infarction.........
