Abstract: The persistence of functional teeth on the arch for a long enough period of time represents an accomplished goal due to the existence and constant improvement of the conservative means of treatment. The misapprehension regarding the complexity of endodontic space is one of the various failures of the endodontic treatment. The aim of this article is to emphasize the clinical approach of a retreatment case of endodontic therapeutic failure at upper first molar level. First, it would be preferable to try an orthograde endodontic retreatment because this is the most conservative way of treatment.

Abstract: Torsion of ovary is the total or partial rotation of the adnexa around its vascular axis or pedicle. Complete torsion causes venous and lymphatic blockade leading to stasis and venous congestion, haemorrhage and necrosis. The cyst becomes tense and may rupture. Incidence is 5 per 10,000 pregnancies. Torsion is predominantly seen in the reproductive age group and in women after ART.

Abstract: Ileum diverticulitis is a rare disease that may lead to an acute abdomen mimicking appendicitis. It is not Meckel diverticulitis nor other true diverticulum rather an acquired condition possibly due to the same causes as colonic diverticular disease ie pseudodiverticula. These diverticula are usually multiple and occur at the mesenteric border, sometimes hidden in the mesentery and overlooked during surgery. Most patients are asymptomatic and diagnosis is made on routine imaging studies or at autopsy. The acute complications of ileal diverticula including inflammation are very rare...................

Abstract: Menstruation is still an issue which is not acknowledged in a healthy way in a country like India, more so in urban slums and remote villages. Improper menstrual hygiene resulting out of socio-economic constraints, taboos, misconceptions, faulty family practices will lead to morbidities like reproductive tract infections and its consequences. The study aimed to find out the existing level of knowledge, attitude and practice of menstrual hygiene and its determinants, prevalence of genitourinary tract related morbidities and its
predictors among adolescent girl students of an urban slum. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study had been conducted among 200 girl students of class V-VIII in a Government secondary school situated in a slum area of Kolkata with the help of a predesigned pretested schedule....................

Abstract: Surgical site infections are defined as infections of organs, tissues or organ spaces which are handled by operating surgeons at the time of surgical procedure. Since patient skin is an important source of pathogens that cause SSIs, optimization of skin prior to surgery with skin antisepsis may decrease the postoperative infection in clean and clean contaminated surgeries. There are many varieties of antiseptic materials available for preoperative skin preparation, however Povidone iodine and chlorhexidine alcohol are widely used in clinical practice. We conducted a prospective study to compare the efficacy of chlorhexidine and povidone iodine in preventing surgical site infection after clean and clean contaminated elective surgery in patients admitted to general surgical ward in..................

Abstract: Aim: To study the hepatic vascular anatomy and to find out aberration in its origin, course, branching pattern or in the anatomical relation with accompanying structures. Method: During routine dissection in a 50 year old male cadaver we dissected out all the three branches of celiac trunk all through their course. As the hepatic artery was found to have a different mode of branching we traced the artery till its destination in to liver parenchyma and studied its course and relations with adjacent structures. Results: Hepatic artery was normal in its origin from celiac trunk. There was no replaced or accessory hepatic artery. But in contrast to the normal mode of termination of a proper hepatic artery into right and left hepatic artery near the porta hepatis we found the artery dividing very close to its origin...................

Abstract: The aim is to study various clinicopathological features of TNBC in Northern part of INDIA. Background: • Molecular classification of breast cancer is based on gene expressing profile. • They subgroup [luminal A, luminal B, HER2, and basal like] have distinct gene expression pattern and phenotypical characteristics. • TNBC shares phenotypical features with basal like breast cancer, which is in turn the most aggressive and with worse outcome. • There is a growing evidence of the heterogeneity of such entity on the molecular level that may cause discrete outcomes • They are associated with aggressive histology, poor clinical outcome, associated with BRCA1 mutation and unresponsive to endocrine therapy and short survival..................

Abstract: Proptosis as a clinical manifestation of childhood acute promyelocytic leukemia is very rare. Only 15% of acute myeloid leukemia is seen in children and only 9.3%of it manifestated as orbital deposit causing proptosis in one or both eyes. We are here with reporting a case in a 8years girl who presented with fever and swelling of left eye in a case of acute promyelocytic leukemia. The purpose of reporting this case is to emphasize the need of examining the peripheral smear and bone marrow in children presenting as proptosis for early diagnosis of childhood AML. Here we have reviewed the last 40 years of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia cases and articles regarding extramedullary involveme.

Abstract: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects around 10-13% of general population. The risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality remains high in all stages of chronic kidney disease. It is documented that CKD patients have an extremely high risk of developing CVD compared to general population so much so that early stages of CKD patients are more likely to develop CVD than progress to ESRD. Cardiovascular disease often begins before end stage renal disease (ESRD) and patient with reduced kidney functions are more likely to die of cardiovascular disease (CVD) than to develop ESRD. Hypertension, one of the leading cause of renal failure is the major culprit in this process causing left ventricular hypertrophy, cardiac chamber dilation, increased left ventricular wall stress, redistribution of coronary blood flow, reduced coronary artery vasodilator reserve ,pericardial effusion..................

Abstract: Pigmentd variant of dermatofibosarcoma protuberans(DFSP) are one of the rarest tumor. It was first described by Bednar in 1957. The tumor consists only 1-5% of all dermatofibosarcoma protuberans(DFSP). Here we present , a 55 year old male patient complaining of abdominal lump for more than 5 years . FNAC of the tumor goes in the favor of spindle cell tumor with occasional black pigment containing cell . Histologically , we appreciated storiform pattern of the tumor and honeycomb apparence, in some areas. Finally, immunohistochemistry confirms the diagnosis of Bednar tumor or pigmented variant of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans(DFSP).

Abstract: Cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF) is a benign neoplasm characterized by replacement of normal bone by fibrous tissue and varying amounts of newly formed bone or cementum-like material, or both.1 Peripheral Cemento ossifying fibroma (PCOF) is a reactive lesion which has been described with various synonyms and is believed to arise from the periodontal ligament.2 It predominantly affects adolescents and young adults, with peak prevalence between 10 and 19 yrs. There is a definite female predilection and almost 60% of the lesions occur in the maxilla. Trauma or local irritation such as dental calculus, ill-fitting denture appliances and faulty restorations are known to precipitate the development of this lesion.3 The present report describes a case of Peripheral Cemento ossifying fibroma..................

Abstract: Introduction: Strength is defined as maximum voluntary force exerted in a single muscular effort. Isometric, isotonic, isokinetic all produce significant and substantial gains in muscle strength. Further, no single system or product has been found to be superior to any other when the studies have been well-controlled. Aim of the study is to get a better understanding of 3 types of strength testing and training of quadriceps in normal subjects and to compare the effectiveness of isometric, isokinetic, isotonic strength of quadriceps in normal subjects. Materials And Methods: A total of 30 normal subjects were recruited randomly from physiotherapy department of SVNIRTAR according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Subjects were randomly assigned into 3 groups; 10 subjects were taken into each group; isometric, isotonic and isokinetic training groups which received isometric, isotonic and isokinetic strength training of quadriceps muscle of left side respectively for 4 weeks.................

Abstract: Surgical management of proximal humerus fractures are widely accepted with locking plates. However, technical pitfalls often lead to complications which can always be avoided. We analyse the fractures of proximal humerus treated by locked plates in our institute in this study. The importance of minimal soft tissue dissection to preserve the vascularity of the head, indirect methods of reduction, and early mobilization help to achieve good results in these fractures. Abstract: Stiffness of the locking plates commonly cause healing problems. far cortex locking principle is one easy way to reduce the locking construct stiffness by still maintaining enough strength of fixation. In this study we review our experience of using FCL principle in distal femur extra articular fractures. Four key features of FCL constructs that contribute to fracture healing and durable fixation are flexible fixation, load distribution, progressive stiffening, and parallel interfragmentary motion. FCl is a simple technique requiring not much learning curve with huge benefits with relation to fracture healing.

Abstract: WT is the most common renal tumor of infancy and childhood. Its incidence is one per 10,000 children under the age of 15 years worldwide. Multimodality treatment has resulted in a significant improvement in the four-year survival, from approximately 30% in the 1930s to more than 85% in the modern era. This was also the first solid tumour where the role of adjuvant chemotherapy was established. we report in the present study our experiences of the outcome of multimodality treatment of Wilms' tumor at a tertiary care centre. Our results demonstrated that factors such as late presentation, poverty, poor compliance to treatment, and lack of multidisciplinary collaboration remain major challenges in managing Wilms Tumour patients in a developing country.

Abstract: THodgkin lymphoma (HL) has a dramatic response in terms of survival outcome since it was first described by Thomas hodgkin in 1832 [1]. Survival outcomeof paediatric HL may differ between developed and developing countries due to various reasons particularly the socio economic factors. The recurrence of the disease was also widely reported in backward regions. In developing countries, HL usually presents with a higher-stage of disease and generally has mixed cellularity histologically[2-5]. HL is by and large treated on the basis of the stage of disease and risk profile, which provide the basis for different treatment strategies such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or a combined modality approach. The optimal treatment approach still remains controversial, especially in the advanced disease stage. Initially, high-dose extended-field radiation proved to be effective in adults with early-stage disease, whereas chemotherapy combinations of mechlorethamine, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone as well as doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (ABVD) or combined-modality treatment were reserved for advanced disease [6].................

Abstract: Subcutaneous emphysema is a rare complication related to dental treatment. The most common dental etiology of this complication is the introduction of air via the air-turbine handpiece during bone removal in surgical removal of impacted tooth, and is very rare during nonsurgical endodontic treatment. The use of three way air syringes and forceful irrigation of root canal can lead to surgical emphysema of subcutaneous tissue planes in and around the teeth which are involved. This case report presents a case of subcutaneous emphysema during a non-surgical endodontic treatment.

Abstract: The level of community disaster awareness and preparedness is of Paramount importance. This enables the community to respond better to disasters thus reducing loss of property and lives. This study aims at identifying the level of disaster awareness and preparedness of communities in the vulnerable areas of the Himalayan valley and its risk factors. A cross sectional study was conducted to meet the study objectives among the general population of ten identified villages in the Naggar block of Kullu district. A semi structured questionnaire was used to collect information on basic disaster awareness and preparedness. A total of 192 participants consented to be a part of the study and returned completely filled survey forms. In the univariate analysis factors such as age, gender, education level, occupation and participants who had previously not faced disasters were independently associated with poor disaster........

Abstract: Intermediate filament was detected in human testicular seminoma using immunohistochemical expression of keratin. Commercially available Cytokeratin of varying molecular weight were applied to 32 seminomas along with 22 embryonal carcinomas (pure and mixed form).Detection of intermediate filaments was correlated with age, tumor size, and stage. Seminomas showed Intermediate filaments in number of cases.Cytokeratin of varying molecular weight showed positivity.Of 32 seminomas, 37.5 % show presence of intermediate filaments through positive expression with AEI/AEIII, 37.5 % with 34bE12, 43.7% with Cytokeratin 7. There were no differences in patient age, stage, tumor size, between CK-positive andCK-negative seminomas. Of 22 Embryonalcarcinomas86% shows positivity with AEI/AEIII, whereas34bE12 and Cytokeratin 7 was positive in 86% and 100% of cases. Epithelial membrane antigen was positive in 9% cases of Embryonal carcinomas and 8.6% cases of seminomas.

Abstract: Differentiation of seminoma from embryonal carcinoma is essential because difference in treatment protocol. In most cases seminomas can be easily distinguished from embryonal carcinoma. In some cases, because of confusing histomorphology, such differentiation become difficult in routine Haematoxylene and eosin stained tissue section alone, and necessitates use of immunohistochemical analysis. Researchers used various immunohistochemical markers including Keratin antibodies ,combination of CD30,CD117(c-kit) to this end. D2-40 is a monoclonal antibody that reacts with an oncofetal membrane antigen that is present in fetal germ cell as well as neoplastic germ cell tumour of testis. Various Testicular Germ Cell neoplasm was evaluated with D2-40 and results werecompared with..............
