Abstract: The present study was undertaken to analyze the profile of CAD in adults with severe LV systolic dysfunction with global hypokinesia with EF<35% were enrolled at I.G.M.C. Shimla over a period of one year. A total of 33 patients admitted with severe LV systolic dysfunction at I.G.M.C. Shimla over a period of one year were subjected to coronary angiography to rule out CAD in patients with severe LVD. The analysis of the demographic profile revealed that CAD was more common in males than females across all age groups and prevalence of heart failure increases with the age. The age and sex distribution of patients in our study was similar to the other studies. A large majority of patients were from urban areas 64.2 %. The study observed that all patients had breathlessness of.....

Abstract: Desmoid tumors are rare soft tissue tumors arising from connective tissue that provides strength to muscle, ligaments and bones.Desmoid tumors are rare accounting for about 0.03% of all tumors. The incidence of desmoid tumor is 2-4 per million per year.they are common in 10-40 years of age group and common in females after childbirth with female to male ratio of 2:1.They can be solitary or multiple.Desmoid tumor can be abdominal desmoid tumor(arising from abdominal wall),intra-abdominal desmoid tumor(arising from structures connecting abdominal organs) and extra-abdominal desmoid tumor(occurring in shoulder, upper arms and upper legs).Desmoid tumors are fibrous much like scar tissue. They are not considered malignant but they have tendency to invade the surrounding tissue aggressively hence they are difficult to remove surgically.

Abstract: Tilted disc syndrome is a congenital anomaly of the eye characterized by the inferior or inferonasal tilting of the optic disc, congenital conus, ectasia, situs inversus of the retinal vessels at the level of the optic disc, myopic astigmatism and visual field defects. There is also thinning of the retinal pigment epithelium and choroid in the inferior nasal fundus that may be ophthalmologically visible as fundus depigmentation. This syndrome occurs equally in men and women in 1-2% of the population. It is generally accepted that the syndrome shows no hereditary patterns. We present a case of 45 year female with tilted disc syndrome with bilateral situs inversus and inferonasal staphyloma. Typical fundus picture, optical coherence tomography, visual fields,B scan ultrasonography and MRI of the patient would be instructive to a clinician.

Abstract: Mucocele is the most common lesion of the oral mucosa, which results from the accumulation of mucous secretion due to trauma and lip biting habits or alteration of minor salivary glands. This leads to aggregation of mucus in a single location causing circumscribed swelling. Commonly they are divided in two types based on histological features which as follows: Extravasation and retention.Clinically they consist of a soft, bluish and transparent cystic swelling. Being one of the most common benign soft tissue masses that occur in the oral cavity its diagnosis is mostly based on clinical findings. These lesions can be seen in innumerable areas of the oral mucosa as lips, cheek and the floor of the mouth. However the out of the most the commonest location of the extravasation mucocele is the lower lip and the treatment of choice (out of the many) is surgical removal. This paper draws us into the phenomenon and a case report has been presented regarding the same

Abstract: Blunt abdominal trauma is one of reasons for acute abdomen presentation complicated by liver and spleen injury, most commonly spleen. primary concern being internal haemorrhage. our study aims to study incidence clinical presentations outcome of splenic trauma in blunt injury abdomen. patients with splenic injury were included in study who underwent non- operative and operative management. prospective typestudy . Ultrasound being 88.8% sensitive in identifying trauma and CT scan most useful in non -operative management. most common presentations are with grade 2 and 3. grade 1 and grade 2 injuries showing a good outcome with conservative management grade 3 injuries managed with operative management showing good outcome and overall mortality being 6.66%. the patients with time lapse between injury and treatment with <2 hrs have a better outcome and less morbidity. prophylactic antibiotic and pneumococcal vaccination prevent from overwhelming post splenectomy infections.

Abstract: The main objective of the study was to assess the craniosynostosis using Multi-Detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) among Saudi pediatrics. The study was conducted in King Khalid Medical City at King Saud University in Riyadh (Kingdom Saudi Arabia) from Oct 2017 to Dec 2017. About 25 patients of age (one to 3 years) who attended to computed tomography confirmed results existence of cases, males were the number of cases, a more age group diagnosed. Results: the males were more than women, 60% of the sample were males (15) while 40% of the sample (10) were females. The number of cranial sutures affected, it says that 44% of the sample (11 patients) have only one suture, while 56 of the sample (14 patients) have more than one. This study confirmed that the Computed Tomography most accurate through the study recommended for the assessment craniosynostosis.

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes. The possible mechanism by which obesity increases insulinresistance is large fat stores leading to increased turnover of freefatty acids and triglycerides in the skeletal muscle thereby increasinginsulin resistance. MATERIAL & METHODS: A hospital based observational study was carried out where 125participants were selected by convenient sampling technique in the study duration of 6 months from March to August 2019. Obese individuals with BMI >25 kg/m2 and previously undiagnosed cases of Type 2 diabetes mellitus were included. Fasting Insulin levels were assessed using ELISA method. Homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index was calculated by using the formula: fasting insulin concentration (microunits.......

Abstract: Introduction: Obesity is a disease that adversely affects mortality, morbidity, and quality of life (QOL), as a result of its associated complications, like cardiometabolic, mechanical and lifestyle based. The health risks include diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), hypertension, dyslipidemia, sleep apnea, musculoskeletal disease, infertility, and dementia. Moderate weight loss (5-10%) has been associated with improvements in these obesity-related comorbidities. Objectives: With an aim to estimate the frequency of overweight and obesity in the adult population with sedentary life style, a camp was organized at a private firm to screen the employees. Materials and methods: A total of 218 individuals were selected for analysis. Height, weight, pulse, blood pressure (BP), waist circumference, and body mass index (BMI) were measured. Plasma fasting sugar and fasting serum lipid profile were analyzed.....

Abstract: The aim of the study was to compare accommodative responses under monocular and binocular conditions for symptomatic and asymptomatic subjects. A sample population of 70 college students of Ahmedabad were selected, divided into symptomatic and asymptomatic according to Vision quality scale. Monocular estimation method was used to evaluate accommodative lag under monocular and binocular conditions. Covertest and Maddox rod were used to detect and quantify the amount of heterophoria. The mean age of symptomatic and asymptomatic participants was 20.75±2.28 and 20.00±0.98 respectively. The monocular accommodative lag ranges from -1.00Ds to +1.75Ds with a mean of 0.33±0.63 in symptomatic subjects. While the binocular lag ranges.....

Abstract: The study aimed to assess the occupational health hazards among quarry workers in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The study employed a cross sectional study that deals with observational and clinical examination that involved the measurement of outdoor gaseous pollutants, interview of participants with a well structured questionnaire and ocular examination of participants. The completed and collected questionnaire was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21.0. The results were presented in frequency tables and percentages in line with the research objectives. A total of 212 subjects participated in the study, 92(43.40%) were males while 120 (56.60%) were females. The result showed that sneezing (79.40%) followed by cough (58.45%) were higher.......
