Abstract: Introduction: Psychogenic motor dysfunction (PMD) is common term used to describe increased, decreased, or abnormal movement that is not attributable to any organic cause. Dissociative Disorder of Movement and Sensation is described under F44.4- 44.7 in ICD-10. Our centre is located in Western Rajasthan, where a large number of female patients are presented with the dissociative disorder of movement and sensation. An emerging treatment modality called repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) noninvasively creates a brief, powerful magnetic field to induce electric current within a targeted brain region.....

Abstract: Treated patients of pulmonary TB have been recognized to be developing chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. Treated pulmonary TB patients are free from Mycobacterium infection but have variable presentation of lung function findings affecting the quality of patient's life. The histopathological abnormalities after treatment for pulmonary TB include fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and bronchial stenosis, all of which can cause pulmonary function abnormalities. So a study was framed with an aim to measure the extent of the impairment of lung function in pulmonary TB-treated patients in India, so that proper planning to ensure the functional restoration in lungs in treated patients can be done. 242 patients with pulmonary function test results were analyzed twice, once just after completion of drug therapy and next after 6month of 1st study. Results were tabulated and it was found that there was......

Abstract: Background: Penetrating head injury (PHI)remains one of the most complex and fatal forms of traumatic brain injury. The management of penetrating head injury presents serious challenges to attending neurosurgeons especially in a low resource setting; where facilities for prompt neurocritical care, neuroimaging and neurosurgical reconstruction are grossly inadequate. The study was designed to describe the pattern and outcome of penetrating head injury in our institution. Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of patients with penetrating head injury (breach of dura by foreign object)managedfrom July 2015 to June 2019. Results....

Abstract: Introduction: Obesity is a major determinant of Prehypertension .The association between Weight and Blood Pressure is linear, therefore Cardiovascular disease prevention efforts should target reduction in excess weight . Material & methods: Study included 184 medical professionals of jammu region. Blood pressure & Anthropometric indices of Obesity were recorded. Results: Weight, Body mass index (BMI), Waist circumference (WC), Hip circumference(HC) & Waist- hip ratio(WHR) were statistically significantly higher in Prehypetensives as compared to normotensives. Conclusion: From the study strong association.......

Abstract: Introduction: To evaluate the effect of different cortical bone thicknesses (0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 mm), miniscrew insertion angles (30o, 60o and 90o) and force directions (horizontal and oblique) on stress distribution on miniscrew and surrounding bone using finite element analysis. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four three-dimensional assemblies of miniscrew models placed in alveolar bone blocks were constructed using Inventor professional version 8 software. The models simulated miniscrews inserted in bone of different cortical bone thicknesses with different insertion angles. A load of 2 N was applied to the miniscrew head in two directions. The resultant deformations and stresses of the applied load were collected from the output of ANSYS program. Results:The results demonstrated that....

Abstract: Background: To investigate the role of tamsulosin in patients with benign prostatic enlargement (BPE) with different grades of intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP).Methods: Patients with BPE with IPP were included in this observational study. Intravesical prostatic protrusion was graded as grade 1 (< 5 ml), 2 (5 < IPP < 10 ml) and 3 (> 10 ml). Patients were treated with tamsulosin for twelve weeks. Evaluation was performed before and at the end of treatment by means of International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and uroflowmetry. Patients were considered responders if a reduction of IPSS > 3 points was seen. Results: 65 patients were enrolled in our study. Among them 25 (38.5%) showed an IPP grade 1 (group A), 26 (40%) an IPP grade 2 (group B) and 14 (21.5%) an IPP grade 3 (group C). Treatment success was defined as post-treatment IPSS score reduction > 3 points, was obtained.........

Abstract: Hand eczema is a descriptive diagnosis for dermatitis, largely confined to hands. Itis one of the most frequently encountered diseases in dermatological practice and often severely distressing condition giving rise to lot of social, emotional and physical disturbances and discomfort. Its1-year prevalence in the general population is 10% with a lifetime prevalence of 15%.1 For one-third of the patients, the disease starts before 20 years of age and is often occupation related.2 Most of the cases of hand eczema are of multifactorial origin, wherein the eczema is caused and perpetuated by exogenous factors(such as contact allergens, irritants&infections), endogenous factors(atopy).Epidemiological studies have identified risk factors that include contact allergens, irritants, genetic factors and wet exposure which can induce the development of the disease process and influence the prognosis of disease.3,4Based.......

Abstract: PENILE HAIR TOURNIQUET SYNDROME is a rare but potentially devastating clinical entity characterized by circumferential strangulation of coronal sulcus of penis resulting in various serious complications. If not diagnosed early, it can lead to urethral fistula, urethral transection , penile gangrene and even amputation of penis. It is mostly seen in circumscribed children. Herein we are reporting a case of Penile hair tourniquet syndrome (PHTS) and successful management of urethrocutaneous fistula (coronal) developed due to PHTS in a 5 year old male child.

Abstract: Background: Despite its minimally invasive nature, arthroscopic shoulder surgery is often associated with severe postoperative pain in patients which limits the initial recovery and rehabilitation. This is difficult to manage without large dose of opioids. The suprascapular nerve block combined with axillary nerve block may provide an efficacious alternative to interscalene block for shoulder arthroscopy. The aim of this study was to compare interscalene block with combined suprascapular and axillary nerve block in shoulder arthroscopy for postoperative analgesia. Patients and methods: The study was conducted in 60 patients aged between 25 -50 years belonging to ASA grade I and II. The patients were divided in two groups of 30 each. The nerve block was guided by ultrasound. Visual analog......

Abstract: The study aimed to assess the occupational health hazards among quarry workers in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The study employed a cross sectional study that deals with observational and clinical examination that involved the measurement of outdoor gaseous pollutants, interview of participants with a well structured questionnaire and ocular examination of participants. The completed and collected questionnaire was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21.0. The results were presented in frequency tables and percentages in line with the research objectives. A total of 212 subjects participated in the study, 92(43.40%) were males while 120 (56.60%) were females. The result showed that sneezing (79.40%) followed by cough (58.45%) were higher among crushed stone quarry-related disease compared to other diseases. It was reported that 34.26% of the subjects have.....
