Abstract: L'oesophagite disséquante chronique (ODC) est une affection rare, d'étiopathogénie jusqu'à présent mal connue.

Abstract: In this prospective study, 22 eyes of 20 optic neuritis patients were examined and followed up for 3 months. Mean age was 47.6 ± 14.05 years. Female preponderance was seen (65% of cases). Papillitis (90% of eyes) was more common than retrobulbar neuritis (10% of eyes). Bilateral presentation was seen in 10% cases. At presentation, most of the eyes presented with visual acuity <6/60 (n=15, 68.18%) which improved to ≥6/60 in most of the patients (n=18, 81.8%) at three months followup. The clinical profile of optic neuritis in Manipur population is different from that in the Western population but similar to Asian population. Unlike reported in the Western literature, papillitis and unilateral presentation was more frequent but poorer outcomes

Abstract: Introduction: Fracture distal radius is the most common fracture treated; more than one sixth of all fractures that we treat are fracture of distal radius, that means 10% to 25% of all fractures seen at an emergency department and constitutes 17% of all the fractures and 75% of all forearm fractures. The distal ends of radius fractures continue to pose a therapeutic challenge.Aims and Objects: to compare the efficacy, functional and anatomical outcome of the volar locking compression plate and percutaneous k wire in the management of distal radius fracture in adults and various complications related to it.Methods: Hospital based study in the department of Orthopaedics, RIMS , Imphal, Manipur, Randomised controlled trial, conducted for a period of 2 years from August 2016 to August 2018.Results:Out of 62 patients, the study showed mean age of incidence to be 44.5 ±11.94 years in.........

Abstract: Intestinal obstruction is a common problem encountered in surgical practice. Adhesions are most frequent cause of small bowel obstruction (SBO) in the developed world and are responsible for 60-70 percent of SBO. Adhesive SBO requires appropriate management with a proper diagnostic and therapeutic pathway. The management of postoperative adhesive small bowel obstruction is controversial because surgery can induce new adhesions prediposes recurrence, whereas conservative treatment neither removes the cause of the obstruction nor prevents the recurrence.........

Abstract: Introduction: Hepatitis B virus infection and HIV infection are both endemic in Sub-Saharan Africa and both have similar routes of transmission. Our aim was to determine the prevalence of HIV/HBV co-infection at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, and also to study the profile of CD4+ lymphocytes and alanine aminotransferase of patients with HIV/HBV co-infection compared to that of patients with HIV infection alone. Method: The medical records of 1043 HIV patients enrolled into care at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital from January 2005 to January 2015 were reviewed. Results: Of the 1043 HIV........

Abstract: Introduction :Osteoarthritis (OA) is chronic progressive, softening and disintegration of articular cartilage and new growth of cartilage and bone at joint margins. Now a days, so many non surgicalmodalities of treatment are being developed to delay the surgery for osteoarthritis. Out of which PRP is being widely used and portrayed as a wonder drug. The purpose of this study was to evaluate Clinical and functional outcome of intraarticular platelet-rich plasma in early primary osteoarthritis knee joints and compare single vs double dose.........

Abstract: Internal resorption is a chronic inflammatory process results in the loss of dentin. It begins centrally within the pulp space and results from clastic cells which trigger a progressive resorption phenomenon. An early diagnosis of internal resorption is required to institute the endodontic treatment as soon as possible, before the process compromises mineralized structures of the tooth. Apexification is the treatment of choice for necrotic teeth with immature apex. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) was introduced as an alternative material, for the apexification of immature permanent teeth, to traditional materials which account certain difficulties like very long treatment time, possibility of tooth fracture and incomplete calcification of the bridge. This case report presents successful........

Abstract: Misoprostol, used for the prevention and management of post partum haemorrhage, can have adverse effects and should be monitored carefully. We discuss a 30 year old primigravida who received misoprostol for post partum haemorrhage. She developed high grade fever leading to altered sensorium and metabolic acidosis. She required intubation and intensive care and was salvaged.

Abstract: Cataract surgery, the most commonly performed surgical procedure worldwide depends on many factors to perform successfully. Some of the factors to mention are advanced surgical instruments, skill of the surgeons and intraocular lens design for satisfactory postoperative refractive results. For achieving this goal, accuracy in biometric measurements is crucial. The ocular biometric characteristics of a population, including axial length (AL), keratometric power (K) are important for selection of most appropriate lenses to be implanted during cataract surgery To our knowledge, publications on studies about the values of ocular biometry parameters from North East India were not much reported.. The present work aims at the first hospital-based population study of ocular biometric characteristics of cataract in older patients of 57yrs to 85yrs fromNorth East India......

Abstract: Objective: To study the association between lipid profile and liver function test in type 2 diabetics. Methods: The study population consisted of 100 type 2 diabetic patients attending Diabetics clinic,at a tertiary care hospital in Chennai. FBS,PPBS,LFT ,FLP and USG abdomen for detecting fatty liver were done for all participants. ALT /AST >30 and TC>200,TGL>150 were taken as elevated and their association with fatty liver was studied. Results: The 100 participants in the study included 49 females and 51 males.Mean age was 52.6 +/- 10.426.).7 out of the 100 were alcoholics. 73 of the total had raised ALT/AST.47 participants had raised TC and TGL.Both LFT and FLP were raised in 46 individuals. Out of the 71 participants with elevated LFT (alcoholics excluded) 62 had fatty liver. 43 of the 44 participants........

Abstract: Although opioids are the main choice for acute postoperative pain control, many side effects have been reported for them. NSAIDs, Tramadol and paracetamol have been used extensively as alternatives, and it seems that they are more effective for minor to moderate pain control postoperatively when have been used alone or in combination with opioids. As laparoscopic Appendicectomy poses moderate pain postoperatively, this study was planned to assess whether paracetamol is able to provide effective analgesia as a sole analgesic at least in the first few hours post operatively. Objectives We evaluated the effect of intravenous Paracetamol on postoperative pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic Appendicectomy. Patients and Methods.......
