Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to report a case of development of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), in a 55year old Assamese male patient receiving low dose oral haloperidol 2.5mg/day and Trihexyphenidyl 4mg /day in divided doses which he was tolerating well until after the addition of oral Donepezil 5mg /day following which he developed NMS. Antipsychotics and cholinesterase inhibitor have direct propensity to induce neuroleptic malignant syndrome but it is a very rare event, when given in together they undergo complex interaction to induce NMS and therefore should be chosen very carefully............

Abstract: Background: The effect of percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV) on left ventricular function in patients with rheumatic severe mitral stenosis (MS) has been controversial for decades. Our aim is to study the effect of PBMV on left ventricular (LV) performance by strain imaging Methods: In this prospective study, we included 74 patients with rheumatic severe MS requiring PBMV. The echocardiographic parameters studied were left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), mitral annular systolic velocity (MASV), mitral annular early diastolic velocity (E'), mitral annular plane systolic excursion (MAPSE) and myocardial performance index (MPI). Strain parameters were studied by speckle tracking echocardiography. Six minute walk distance (6MWD) was measured. Results: Out of the 74 patients, 48..........

Abstract: Purpose: This clinical study was conducted to periodically evaluate retention forces of two implants retained complete mandibular overdenture with Zircon-PEEK telescopic attachment.
Materials and methods: Six completely edentulous patients of both sexes and average age of 60 years old were selected for this study. Each patient received two implants in the mandibular canine regions. Maxillary conventional complete dentures were constructed against mandibular overdentures for all patients. Zircon-PEEK telescopic attachmentswere fabricated to retain the overdentures where primary crowns were made of zirconia and secondary ones were made.........

Abstract: Introduction: Emergency physicians constantly have to choose the most accurate therapeutic plan for the patients based on the severity and prognosis of the disease andalso deal with the worries and concerns of the patients' relatives. Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) is one of the scoring systems used for assessing the severity of disease in critically ill patients and predicting their outcome. It is based on evaluating the function of six vital organs. Aim: The present study was aimed to assess the ability of SOFA score to predict mortality in the ICU of a tertiary care hospital in central Maharashtra. ResultsIn our study the mean SOFA........

Abstract: In the present study, I have done a randomized, prospective comparative study of ―LAPAROSCOPIC VERSUS OPEN HERNIOTOMY IN PAEDIATRIC AGE GROUP OF 5 TO 12 YEARS‖. In the Department of Surgery, R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, from January 2014 to June 2015. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the advantages and disadvantages between laparoscopic herniotomy and open herniotomy in patients with inguinal hernia. After randomisation, 60 patients that were included in the study group. Among them, 30 patients underwent laparoscopic herniotomy and 30 patients underwent open herniotomy. All the patients allocated to the two groups underwent the assigned procedure.........

Abstract: The urinary tract infection is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in Pediatric age group. The studies have shown that urinary tract infections in pediatric age group are poentialiy dangerous, because they are the forerunners of several renal diseases in the adulthood. The following study has been done amongst children admitted in the department of Pediatrics,RIMS,Ranchi to see the urinary tract infection is not isolated even but associated with systemic diseases. Detailed history and complete clinical examination was done.laboratory investigations were carried out........

Abstract: The conventional Inferior alveolar nerve block is the most commonly used nerve block technique for locally anaesthetizing the inferior alveolar nerve during minor and major mandibular surgical procedures. The inferior alveolar nerve passes through the mandibular foramen along with the mandibular vessels. In close association with the mandibular foramen is an elevated bony process known as the lingula. The foramen and the lingula, because of their relation to the inferior alveolar nerve are of clinical significance for the orodental surgeons. The lingula is used for identifying the approximate area of the mandibular foramen for determining the site of deposition of local anesthetic for inferior alveolar nerve blockage or for excision of nerve for facial neuralgia and other major surgical procedures........

Results: Data of 21 cases of SGTs were recorded, of which 14 (66.6%) cases were classified as benign tumors and 07 (33.34%) cases as malignant tumors. Male to female ratio (M/F) and the mean age of patients were 1:1.3 and 45 years, respectively. Pleomorphic adenoma (71.4%) was the most common benign neoplasms. Mucoepidermoid carcinoma(42.8%) was the most common malignant salivary neoplasm overall.........

Abstract: BACKGROUND:Patients with non ST elevation acute myocardial infarction(NSTEMI) and unstable angina (UA) have a wide variation in their disease severity. Thus, risk stratification is essential for adequate clinical decision-making. The accuracy of the GRACE, TIMI and PURSUIT scores in predicting coronary disease with NSTEMI/UA has not been established. AIM:The aim of the study was to correlate clinical risk scores with angiographic extent of coronary artery disease(CAD) in patients with NSTEMI and UA and their sixmonth outcomes. Abstract: Complex odontoma is an agglomerate of all the dental tissues that are characterized by normal histodifferentiation and abnormal morphodifferentiation producing little or no resemblance to normal tooth form. They are usually characterized by slow growth, nonaggressive behaviour and is asymptomatic but often associated with eruption disturbances. An interesting case of unusually large multiple complex odontoma in the maxillary anterior region and its comprehensive management is discussed in detail in this paper.

Abstract: Background: Ultrasound is useful in lung and pleural evaluation due to its real-time response characteristics. Add to that, its portability, bed-side availability and absence of ionizing radiation; therefore, it is a safe technique for all patients. It can evaluate abnormalities in the peripheral lung parenchyma, pleura and chest wall. It may also be used to guide invasive procedures, such as pleural puncture, biopsy and chest tube insertion.Aim of the Work: to evaluate the role of ultrasound for diagnosis and assessment of different pleural lesions and the possibility to differentiate between benign and malignant pleural diseases. Patients and methods: This study was conducted on 30.........

Abstract: Introduction: We report case series showing functional evaluation of volar locking plate fixation of distal radius fractures. Considering the high frequency of distal end radius fractures and scarcity of data regarding the optimal treatment, the present study was undertaken to assess functional evaluation of fractures of lower end radius treated with volar locking plate fixation followed by early mobilization of wrist joint. Material And Methods: A Prospective study of 30 patients with distal radius fractures treated with open reduction and internal fixation with volar locking plates in all the patients coming at rockland hospital qutub institutional area, new delhi. Results: In the present study 76.7% of the patients were males and 23.3% of the patients were females. The male to female ratio was 3.3........

Abstract: For the last three decades, different colorectal related to minimally invasive surgery techniques were developed. Those techniques reduced postoperative pain; wound complications also enhanced early reinitiating of bowel function and also decreased hospital stay duration. But incision formation for colorectal specimen retraction through abdominal wall 'mini-laparotomy' negatively impacts those advantages of minimally invasive surgery. Natural orifice specimen extraction (NOSE), which is the extraction of the specimen via normal anatomical openings connected to the external environment such as Anus and Vagina. The establishment of this technique is to eliminate the abdominal.........
