Abstract: AIM : To measure creatinine clearance to evaluate kidney filtration OBJECTIVE: the main purpose is to assess kidney function. Creatinine clearance is the theoretical volume of blood which is wholly cleared of creatinine following one pas-sage through kidney. It is a measure of glomerular function test- to determine estimated glomerular filtration rate To provide information about how well the kidneys are filtering blood and is important for detecting and moni-toring kidney problems

Abstract: Summary: Introduction Patients with ocular prostheses have an altered quality of life mainly due to the loss of visual function. But aesthetics and the gaze of others is also part of it. The aim of our study was to evaluate the quality of life and aesthetic aspects of ocular prosthesis wearers. Patients and Methods We included patients enucleated or eviscerated during their follow-up in the ophthalmology department B (hospital of rabat specialties), at various times of......

Abstract: Background: Supination-external rotation injury is the most common type of rotational injuries in the ankle. In the absence of ligamentous injury the isolated lateral malleolar fracture is quite stable and can be managed conservatively without resorting to invasive procedures. This study reports the functional outcomes between operatively treated and non-operatively treated isolated lateral malleolar fractures. Materials and Methods: After obtaining the approval of the institutional ethics committee, 22 patients with isolated lateral malleolar fractures between the age group 18 to 60 years were enrolled in the study. Patients were randomly divided into two.......

Abstract: Tobacco smoking and tuberculosis are two major global public health problems. Chronic exposure to tobacco, as well as to a number of environmentalpollutants, damages the normal clearance mechanism of secretion on the trachea-bronchial mucosal surface. This may allow the causative organism Mycobacterium tuberculosis, to escape the first level of host defenses, which prevent bacilli from reaching the alveoli. Smoke also impairs the function of pulmonary alveolar surfactants and impairs the Lung immunity.1,2,3,4 Tuberculosis has been classically associated with poverty, overcrowding and malnutrition. All these factors mentioned are present in India more than any nation........

Abstract: Renal cell carcinoma is infrequent in pediatric age group. Children with RCC are generally older than those with Wilms tumor. Here we report a 4 year old male patient who came to our outpatient department with chief complaints of hematuria of 4 months duration. Patient had no co-morbidities and clinical examination was normal. USG abdomen and pelvis, CECT abdomen was done and patient was found to have left renal mass. Based on clinical and radiological findings, patient was suspected to have Wilms' tumor. Patient underwent left nephroureterectomy. Intra-operatively tumor of size 3*3cm was noted in the lower pole of left kidney with few enlarged pelvic lymph nodes. Left nephroureterectomy along with pelvic lymph node dissection was done. Pathologically the resected tumor was found to be renal cell carcinoma (stage 1). Hence the patient was not offered any adjuvant therapy..

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Lateral epicondylitis, also known as 'tennis elbow' is a degenerative disorder of the common extensor origin of lateral epicondyle of humerus, first described by Runge in 1883. The annual prevalence of lateral epicondylitis is reported between 1 to 3 % among normal non-athlete population. The mainstay of treatment is non-operative and includes rest, activity or equipment modification, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, bracing, and physical therapy like extracorporeal shock wave therapy. However, these traditional therapies do not alter the tendon's inherent poor healing.....

Abstract: Introduction: Traumatic gastrointestinal tract perforation is one of the commonest abdominal emergencies. The number of admitted trauma patients just focuses the tip of the iceberg because a lion's share of these ill-fated people with abdominal trauma pass their last breath on the way to the hospital. Even after the best possible treatment, patients still face post-operative complications due to various factors. The present study was conducted to observe such cases of post-operative complications among patients of abdominal injury. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to observe the post-operative complications among 50 abdominal injury cases. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study was conducted at the Department of Surgery, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka,.....
