Abstract: INTRODUCTION:Bowel Anastomotic leak is one of the most feared complications of gastrointestinal surgery. It causes considerable morbidity and mortality to the patient, several factors influence bowel anastomotic leak. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES :To determine the pre-operative, intraoperative and post-operative risk factors related to anastomotic leak. METHODS: Prospective study.60 patients undergoing bowel resection and anastomosis in department of general surgery GMCH during the period of 1st march 2021 to 30th June 2022 were taken. RESULTS: Among 60 patients......

Abstract: Introduction: Acute pancreatitis due to Gallstones (Biliary Pancreatitis) is most common which constitute 40% of cases. The overall incidence of Acute Pancreatitis in patients with symptomatic gallstone disease is 3% to 8%. It is seen more frequently in women between 50 and 70 years of age.1Most of the patients with Biliary Pancreatitis develop recurrent attacks which increases the mortality and morbidity. Materials and Methods:During the period of study from 1st June 2021 to 31st May 2022, 105 patients with Mild to Moderate Biliary Pancreatitis admitted in Department of....

Title | : | Comparative Study of Plasma Fibrinogen Levels and Lipid Profile in Patients with Ischemic Stroke |

Abstract: Fibrinogen is a protein which is synthesized by liver and secreted in plasma, that plays a key role in blood clotting. Fibrinogen molecules bridge adjacent platelets together to form platelet aggregates and arterial thrombosis leading to ischemic stroke. Fibrinogen association with increased incidence of stroke is in part related to its ability to promote thrombosis or clots by causing platelets to clump inside blood vessels. Fibrinogen interacts with monocytes / macrophages. These cells are thought to play a major role in atherogenesis, and the binding of fibrinogen to monocytes / macrophages is associated with the triggering of procoagulant activities.....

Abstract: Uveal melanoma as well as meningioma have both the neural crest as embryological origin , these tumors are called neurochristopathy , Simple neurocristopathies are unifocal and localized while complex neurochristopathies are multifocal, hence we present a case of a 67-years-old Caucasian woman who consulted in our ophthalmology department for uveal melanoma , during the systemic assessment the brain MRI showed a left temporal occipital meningioma .this case highlight the importance of a good investigation in front of a neurochristopathie in order to find a complex neurochristopathie.......

Abstract: Background: Breast Carcinoma has a high mortality and poor prognosis in Indian subcontinent owing to late presentation at advanced ages as well as hesitancy among the female population. Over the last few decades, more favorable survival of Ca breast cases due to newer diagnostic and treatment modalities. The IHC 4 assays of the breast panel includes immunohistochemical studies of Estrogen Receptor (ER), Progesterone receptor (PR), Human epidermal growth factor receptor (Her2/neu) and Ki67. IHC 4 assay is one of the most basic and cost effective immunohistochemical/ molecular profile that can be available to these patients in the remote facilities where higher modalities such as advanced molecular markers, next generation sequencing and epigenetic studies are unavailable...

Abstract: In this case report, we describe a rare and uncommon Gastrointestinal (GI) Mucormycosis and mixed mycotic infection as a squeale of COVID-19, which should be considered in a post COVID-19 patient with history of diabetes and use of corticosteroids presenting with GI symptoms. A combined team investigated the patient, Colonoscopy guided biopsy and histopathological examination was followed by special staining and culture. A final diagnosis of GI mixed mycotic infection was made, and patient was treated accordingly. Hence, it is prudent to assess the risk factors, type of invasive mycosis, spectrum of coinfections, diagnostic modalities, and their limitations and above all a need for standardized as well as individualized treatment in COVID-19 patients for the upcoming complications.

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Optic neuritis is a pathologic process, whereby inflammation of one or both optic nerve leads to visual dysfunction. In this case report we present a case of a 7 year old female child with isolated left optic neuritis. CLINICAL DESCRIPTION: A 7 year old female child presented with complaints of diminished vision in the left eye, associated with change in color perception for 1 week. On examination, pallor present, vitals were stable and systemic examination was normal. Ophthalmology evaluation showed visual acuity of 3/60 and defective color vision (6/17) and Relative Afferent Pupillary Defect in the left eye....

Abstract: Introduction- Proseal LMA (laryngeal mask airway) is a useful modulation of the classical LMA, which gives superior hemodynamic stability and protection against perioperative complications when used in laparoscopic procedures. Aims and design-aim of this study to compare the efficacy of Proseal laryngeal mask airway (PLMA) and endotracheal tube (ETT) in elective gynecologic laparoscopic surgeries under general anesthesia and to compare the hemodynamic differences and perioperative complications. Methods and Material- In the prospective randomized controlled study, ASA I-II and 60 patients undergoing gynecologic laparoscopic surgery....

Abstract: Background:Being a systemic disease, COPD is associated with several adverse effects in various organs, the heart being one of them. QTc interval may help to assess the severity of COPD and may help in predicting those with poor prognosis. Systematic study of QTc interval in COPD patients at different severity stages may help reveal any association. Thus, the study is taken up to assess the QTc interval in COPD and assess the impact on the severity. Materials and Methods:All patients fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were taken for study with informed consent. Data was collected using a validated questionnaire. Detailed history, clinical examination and necessary investigations: complete hemogram, renal function tests, serum electrolytes, electrocardiogram, 2D echocardiography, pulmonary......

Abstract: Serum electrolytes play important roles in the regulation of pressure, osmotic balance, synaptic transmission of impulses, bone development and cardiac functions. Investigations were carried out on serum potassium, sodium and calcium levels among smokers and non-smokers in Awka, south-eastern Nigeria. The mean levels for potassium, sodium-and calcium among smokers were 5.03mmo/L, 13933mmol/L and 8.90mg/dl respectively. For non-smokers the values were 3.63mmol/L, 139.70mmol/L and 8.83mg/dl, respectively. There was a statistically significant increase in potassium levels among smokers over the non-smokers (P <0.05). However, there was no statistical difference in the sodium and calcium levels among the smokers and non-smokers (P > 0.05). The higher level of potassium among smokers over the non-smokers could be the basis of higher incidence of cardiac arrhythmias observed among smokers.
