Abstract: Pain sensation involves multiple signaling and modulatory pathways, employing a variety of neurotransmitters and other mediators. Inhibitory and facilitatory mechanisms affect the perception of stimuli as painful or non-painful, and in addition may affect the perceived intensity of pain. Endogenous opioids are key mediators in the descending pain suppression pathways. Additionally, monoaminergic neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine positively or negatively modulate pain signaling, depending on receptor type and location. The various mediators involved in pain signaling provide potential targets for pharmacological interventions. Single analgesic therapies may be limited in their ability to comprehensively target these complex pain signaling pathways. Therapeutic approaches acting on multiple pain transmission pathways through different mechanisms of action provide an opportunity to maximize efficacy and tolerability in the treatment of pain.

Abstract: Dental caries is a pathologic process which is multifactorial and causes the destruction of the dental tissues and produces local and general complications.Fluoride involves inhibition of tooth demineralization, promotion of incipient lesion remineralization. Even though fluoride had a profound effect on the level of caries prevalence but non-fluoride agents can enhance fluoride action. There are various steps that have been taken in the prevention of dental caries, out of which fluoride tops the list. Non-fluoride agents like, arginine, plant extracts, probiotics, novamin, dentrifrices, antimicrobials, CPP- ACP etc are commonly used in prevention of dental caries. This paper reviews about these non-fluoride agents in the prevention of dental caries.

Abstract: Background: Eating disorders are characterized by irregular eating habits and distress or concern about bodyweight or shape. Medical students are exposed to high levels of stress and burnout which acts as a risk factor for eating disorders. The aim of the study is to identify the risk of eating disorders and body shape concern among undergraduate medical students. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional study design was used to collect data from the undergraduate medical students. Study instruments include proforma for age, gender, height, weight; Eating Attitude Test (EAT 26) and Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ 16). Analysis of the data was done using SPSS software. Results: A total of 146 students were....

Abstract: Introduction-Vitamin D is avidly involved in the process of innate and adaptive immune activation. A fall in vitamin D levels leads to the activation of tissue-damaging autoimmunity.Serum vitamin D levels are observed to be reduced in RA, however, to date there is still a paucity of literature on its correlation with markers of disease including ESR. Aims and objectives- 50 newly diagnosed cases of RA were included to assess vitamin D3 levels. The levels were correlated with disease duration, markers of disease activity, disease severity, and level of hemoglobin in RA patients.......

Abstract: Sebaceous carcinoma of the eyelid frequently present with metastatic disease involving regional lymph nodes. However, the metastasis to parotid gland is very rare and can be mistaken for primary parotid gland tumor. We present a case of 53-year-old female who presented with right parotid swelling. MRI was suggestive of a pleomorphic adenoma. She was operated for sebaceous carcinoma of the eyelid four years back. Characteristic cytological findings of a mixture of high-grade malignant cells with vacuolated cells along with clinical correlation were helpful in the diagnosis of this tumor following which the patient underwent parotidectomy

Abstract: Background and objectives: post-recoverysequelae have become a major concern in patients who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19). Many reports have shown that COVID‐19 has a variety of long‐term manifestations on almost all systems including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurological, psychiatric, and dermatological systems. Our objective is to investigate the prevalence and characteristics of post‐COVID complications among COVID‐19 survivors. Material and methods: We performed a semi-structured questionnaire to inquire about the presence of persistent symptoms beyond......
