Abstract: Background: The prevalence of obesity is rising at an astonishing rate over the last decade globally making the individual highly susceptible to various diseases. It has transformed into a major public health issues in India. These changes may reduce the compliance of the lungs and the thoracic cavity and increase the load on the respiratory muscles. This may end up with the reduction in forced expiratory volume in first second (FEV1). Aim and Objective: The aim of the study is to see the effect of body mass index (BMI) on the FEV1 in adults. Methodology: This cross sectional.....

Abstract: Summary The term acute myelopathy refers to an impairment of the spinal cord, the origin of which can be infectious, inflammatory, toxic, paraneoplastic, or idiopathic, with onset occurring within a few hours. According to some authors, myelopathy is considered acute when the onset occurs between 4 hours and 3 weeks (1). Vascular myelopathies, characterized by hyper-acute onset (< 4 hours), should be distinguished. Clinically, the presentation depends on the etiology....

Abstract: The sequentially damaging alterations in the oral cavity's hard and soft tissues that occur in individuals who require a single repair of an entirely edentulous arch in opposition to a natural dentition were jointly referred to as combination syndrome by kelly in 1972. Prosthodontists attempt to cure this combination condition with meticulous preparation for treatments. Utilising therapeutic, preventive, and functional treatment modalities that may call for a multidisciplinary approach involving surgical intervention....

Abstract: The science of medications is called pharmacology. The primary active ingredient in a medication used for diagnosis, treatment, or prevention is called a drug. The study concerning the way chemicals (drugs) given exogenously interact with living organisms is known as pharmacology. The two primary areas of concern are how pharmaceuticals affect biological systems and how biological systems affect the effectiveness and metabolism of drugs. As a dental specialty that treats patients of all ages, especially the geriatric population, prosthodontics emphasizes the importance of understanding the local and systemic effects as well as the adverse effects of medications. The purpose of this article is to impart drug-related knowledge which is crucial while prescribing medications in a more knowledgeable way. In prosthodontics, pharmacology is one of the most overlooked areas and is usually ignored by general practitioners; consequently, more research and studies must be performed in this domain.

Abstract: Myiasis, an infestation by dipteran fly larvae, is common in tropical regions, affecting animals and occasionally humans in unhygienic conditions. This article reports a rare case of umbilical cord myiasis in an 8-day-old neonate from a rural area, causing sepsis. The larvae were successfully removed after applying ether to the umbilical stump. This case highlights the importance of hygiene to prevent such rare and avoidable conditions.

Abstract: Dental trauma is such a situation wherein the patient is affected both socially and psychologically. During their first dental visit, these patients with trauma are in pain and need emergency treatment. Such patients are quite apprehensive because of impaired functions, esthetics, and phonetics. The prime objective while handling such cases is successful pain management with immediate restoration of function, esthetics, and phonetics. The advances in adhesive dentistry have allowed dentists to use the patient's own fragment to restore the fractured tooth. Reattachment is such an ultraconservative technique which provides safe, fast, and esthetically pleasing results. This paper discusses fragment reattachment technique and presents a clinical case of complicated crown fracture.

Abstract: Dystonia, a neurological disorder characterized by abnormal and involuntary muscle movements, encompasses a complex interplay of genetic, environmental, and neurochemical factors. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the etiology, pathophysiology, and therapeutic implications of dystonia. Genetic influences, neurotransmitter dysregulation, brain circuitry abnormalities, environmental triggers, neuroinflammation, neuroplasticity, oxidative stress, metabolic factors, and hormonal influences are explored. Understanding these multifaceted dimensions of dystonia is crucial for developing targeted therapeutic interventions.

Abstract: Background: The extraction and characterizations of α-cellulose from rice straw and wheat straw as well as synthesis of cellulose acetate from the extracted α-cellulose by trans-esterification reaction process. Cellulose acetate was synthesized from the extracted α-cellulose following by trans-esterification reaction. The synthesized cellulose acetate was analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and chemical methods. FTIR spectrometry confirmed the synthesis of cellulose acetate i.e. acetylation of cellulose. Abstract: Background: The pain following major surgery results in delay in the postoperative recovery of patients after operation, longer hospitalization period, excess use of analgesics and it is very frustrating for both surgery and anesthesia. One of the methods for controlling postoperative pain is preemptive analgesia. Preemptive analgesia is defined as a treatment that is initiated before surgery in order to prevent the establishment of central sensitization evoked by the incisional and inflammatory injuries occurring during surgery and in the early postoperative......
