Abstract: Background: Hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus co-morbidity significantly impact on the left ventricular function with diastolic dysfunction being the earliest and commonest complication. The prevalence and risk factors for diastolic dysfunction in this subset of patients are understudied. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study carried out in the Department of Internal Medicine of University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital Rivers State, Nigeria. The study population consisted of 160 hypertensive patients.....

Abstract: Fahr syndrome (FS) is a rare entity, characterized by phosphocalcic metabolism disorders and clinical polymorphism of which neuropsychological symptoms are the most common. We report the case of a 42-year-old woman presented for a generalized tonic-clonic seizure and for whom the diagnosis of FS secondary to primary hypoparathyroidism with severe hypocalcemia was retained.

Abstract: Platelet – Rich – Plasma (PRP) therapy has been effective in treating injuries and orthopaedic issues. Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) needs to be studied since the population of diabetics suffering from chronic wounds is high. 85% of lower limb amputation begin with foot ulcers. Over and above this chronic leg ulcers cannot heal thus, becoming a major cause for concern for the patients and doctors too. Leg amputation becomes the only solution to fall back on in such cases. Diabetic Foot Ulcer majorly affects diabetics with devastating implications. With high mortality and disability rates it is a huge health challenge.......

Abstract: This is a 59-year-old patient, with a pathological history of diabete and hypertension under treatment who consulted for a progressive decrease in visual acuity in both eyes, more marked on the left. On clinical examination, the corrected visual acuity was 6/10 in the right eye and 5/10 in the left. The examination of the anterior segment was normal. The fundus examination showed a loaded vitreous, revealing scynchisis scntillans (figure1). Macular OCT showed some hyper-reflective material at the vitreoretinal interface. (figure 2)

Due to its rarity, there is limited data on optimal management strategies, including the role of radiotherapy. Here we present a case report of a 68 year old female presented with a palpable lump initially suspected to be a benign lesion. However subsequent imaging and histopathological analysis revealed features......

Abstract: Introduction: Blistering following lower limb procedures, including arthroplasty, arises from multifactorial causes categorized into patient and surgical factors. Patient factors involve obesity, age, vascular conditions, and diseases impacting wound healing, while surgical factors encompass tourniquet time, dressings, and skin preparation. Skin blistering, characterized by epidermal separation from the dermal layer, is a potential complication of total knee arthroplasty, though significant blistering remains rare despite its reported incidence.........

Abstract: This in vitro study aimed to compare the microleakage of self-adhesive and conventional composite restorations in class V cavities. Forty freshly extracted human mandibular premolars were randomly divided into two groups (n=20): Group A restored with conventional composite (Omnichroma, Tokuyama, Japan) and Group B restored with self-adhesive composite (Constic, DMG, Germany). Class V cavities were prepared, adhesive applied, and composites restored. Teeth were immersed in methylene blue dye, sectioned, and evaluated for microleakage. Kruskal-Wallis and......

Abstract: Peter's Plus syndrome is an infrequent genetic disease , characterised by low height , peculiar facial appearance, eye anomalies and mental retardation. We report here a rare case of bilateral corneal opacity in 5 month old infant with ocular features of Peter's anomaly. Our case is of Peter's plus anomaly as it is associated with acyanotic heart disease and dysmorphic facial features.

Abstract: Acute pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas following self-destruction by its own enzymes responsible for local lesions and systemic response. In rarely cases, several drugs are described as having adverse effects causing acute pancreatitis outside of a context of drug intoxication. Classically, drug-induced acute pancreatitis tends to be edematous and has a relatively limited course over time. Several cases of pancreatitis due to sodium valproate are described in the literature. We describe a first clinical case in Morocco of an epileptic adolescent treated with sodium valproate......

Abstract: Background: For a dental restoration to be successful, one needs to take several factors into account however, prosthetic precision is largely affected by marginal fit of the restoration as it directly influences the longevity and clinical success of the dental restoration. Reason being, increased marginal discrepancy leading to cement dissolution which in turn leads to accumulation of the tooth biofilm, hypersensitivity, marginal discoloration, microleakage, caries, endodontic and periodontal diseases.....
